  • In this study, the ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorbers mixed Ni-Zn ferrite and $Ni_2Y$ ferroxplana were prepared in order to control matching condion. The variation of the material constants($\dot{\varepsilon}$, $\dot{\mu}$) and microwave absorbing characteristics were investigated with various ferrite mixing ratio. The material constants of ferrite/rubber composite microwave absorber could be controlled by variation ferrite mixing radio. The matching frequency and thickness could be controlled with various ferrite mixing ratio.

A Study on Absorption Properties of the EM Wave Absorber Using TiO2 in W-band

  • In this paper, the electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbers using TiO2 as a dielectric material with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) were investigated in W-band radio frequencies. We compared the relative permittivity with reflectionless curve and the absorption properties of samples containing 40 wt.%, 50 wt.%, 60 wt.%, 70 wt.%, and 80 wt.% TiO2. It is possible to realize a complex relative permittivity satisfying the reflectionless condition by choosing composition ratio of TiO2. The optimized composition ratio of TiO2 for the maximum absorption property is about 70 wt.%. As a result, we have confirmed the realization of an EM wave absorber with a high absorption property in W-band radio frequencies.

  • In this article, the multi-objective optimization of cylindrical aluminum tubes under axial impact load is presented. The specific absorbed energy and the maximum crushing force are considered as objective functions. The geometric dimensions of tubes including diameter, length and thickness are chosen as design variables. D/t and L/D ratios are constricted in the range of which collapsing of tubes occurs in concertina or diamond mode. The Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II is applied to obtain the Pareto optimal solutions. A back-propagation neural network is constructed as the surrogate model to formulate the mapping between the design variables and the objective functions. The finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit is used to generate the training and test sets for the artificial neural networks. To validate the results of finite element model, several impact tests are carried out using drop hammer testing machine.

Improving Light Stability of Natural Rubber Latex Foam

  • In this study, natural rubber latex foam was prepared in order to replace commercialized polyurethane foams as a car seat material. Physical properties of the latex foam were investigated and the light stability was improved. The latex foam was mixed in an aqueous solution state, and the degree of foaming and the accelerator ratios were appropriately controlled. Tensile properties, hysteresis and dynamic mechanical properties of the latex foam were measured to compare with those of polyurethane foams. UV light absorbers and radical scavengers were added for improving light stability of the latex foam. Xenon lamp test was conducted to investigate the effects of the reagents on light stability. Our results revealed that the prepared latex foam including a light absorber with an antioxidant showed excellent light stable performances.

  • Nonlinear optical absorption in solid films of poly(3-octyl thiophene) (P3OT) sensitized with methanofullerene was inverstigated for wacelengths from 620 to 960nm. The nonlinear absorption is ehnanced over that in either of the component materials by more than two orders orders of magitude at 760nm. The large nonlinearity results from effient photoinduced interm olecular charge transfer from P3OT to methanofullerene, followed by absorption in the charge separated excited state. P3OT/fullerene films are promising as reverse saturable absorbers and the optical limiting performance is demonstrated at 760nm.

  • An experimental study of the absorption process of water vapor into Lithium Bromide solution was performed. For the purpose of development of high performance absorption chiller-heater utilizing Lithium Bromide solution as working fluid, the absorber is the most effective to improve the performance of an absorber because it requires the largest heat transfer area in an absorption chiller-heater system. This paper introduces bare tube and floral tube for the absorber of absorption chiller-heaters. floral tube has higher heat and mass transfer performance than bare tube conventionally used in absorbers and the it is expected to perform high heat and mass transfer. This paper will provide important information on the selection of absorber tubes in commercial absorption chiller -heaters.

한국형 표준전동차 전체차량의 충돌안전도 해석 연구 (Analysis on the Crashworthiness of the Full Rake Korean Electric Multiple Unit Train)

  • In this paper, numerically evaluated is the crashworthiness of the new design of the standard Korea Electric Multiple Unit Train(K-EMU)[developed by the Korea Railway Research Institute]. The 4-car consist of K-EMU is analyzed under collision conditions such as normal coupling, heavy shunting, light collision and heavy collision to collide against another stationary one at 5 kph, 10 kph, 25 kph and 32 kph, respectively. Energy absorbing capacity of its draftgear commercially available in the market and to be equipped in K-EMU is evaluated under each collision condition. Analytical results show that draftgear only is not enough to provide necessary energy absorbing capacity. It is therefore concluded that additional energy absorbers like mechanical fuses should be adopted to improve the crashworthiness of K-EMU.

  • 전파무향실에 사용 적합한 평면 페라이트 전파흡수체의 설계 및 , 그리고 전파흡수특성에 관해 연구하였다. 임피던스 정합 방정식의 엄밀해를 이용하여 페라이트 흡수체의 복소투자율 범위에 관해 분석하였다. 페라이트 소결제의 복소투자율 및 복소유전율로부터 정합주파수 및 정합두께를 결정하고 실측한 반사감쇠특성과 비교하였다. 전파흡수특성과 재료정수와의 상관관계에 대한 분석결과에 의거하여 정합주파수 및 정합두께의 조절을 위한 재료정수의 제어방안에 관해 검토하였다. 검토하였다.

  • As a method of measure the absorbing characteristics of microwave absorber, the various microwave measuring method can be used fundamentally. There is, however, a big problem in measuring errors, since the wavelength of microwave such as used for radar is very short. Therefore, this research aimed to design and fabricate a converting adaptor of $20mm^{\phi}$ coaxial tube from a Type-N connector to $20mm^{\phi}$ coaxial tube and to use it for evaluating absorption characteristics of microwave absorber. Furthermore, the measurements of absorbing characteristics and material constants have been performed and review, which were carried out by using the coaxial tube and by using rectangular waveguide, respective. As a result, the validity of the proposed measuring method has been confirmed.

  • In this study, three kinds of Mn-Zn ferrite/Ni-Zn ferrite/$Ni_2Y$ ferroxplana prepared by the coprecipitation method was compounded with silicon rubber, and thereafter made ring-type specimens with various compositional ratio. The material constant of ferrite/rubber composite absorbers was obtaibed by the 2-port method. The material constants of the ferrite/rubber composite absorber with various compositional ratio of three kinds of ferrite were used to design the matching frequency and thickness with the impedance matching map. We were able to predict the matching condition from the design method.
