An abnormal female Holstein calf with ectrodactyly of right hindlimb was observed macroscopically and radiographically, and the results were summarized as follows. 1. The central and fourth tarsal bones in the left hindlimb were separated. 2. The tarsus in the right hindlimb consisted of five pieces; the talus, calcaneus, central and first tarsal bones were separated, and the second, third and fourth tarsal bones were fused. 3. The large metatarsal bone in the right hindlimb was fused rudimentary fourth metatarsal bone and well developed third metatarsal bone. 4. The phalanges of the lateral(fourth) digit were absent in the right hindlimb.

SEM observation revealed that the gastric mill of Nyctiphanes australis consists of paired cluster spines and paired lateral teeth, while the filter-press is absent. The morphology of the gastric mill was extremely constant; the numbers of both setiform processes of cluster spines and serrated spines of lateral teeth increased with increasing body length. The cluster spines of N. australis consisted of a single row of stout setiform processes but the lateral teeth comprised a large projection with small serrated spines. The cluster spines are symmetrical in setiform process distribution, however, the lateral teeth are asymmetrical in number of serrated spines.

With the progress of science and technology, animation is no longer about simply describing the nature. People's imagination is elevated to new stage, which not only improve the image in the reality, but also create the absent image in the reality. To analyze according to the existence, these characters have two basic elements. The one is the character existing in the reality, we process and design it according to the artistic technique, so as to make it service for the plot and film (hereafter called documentary character). The other is the character not existing in the reality (hereafter called conceptual character), which is called simulation image by Baudrillard.

A spionid polychaete, Scolelepis (Scolelepis) kudenovi Hartmann-Schroder, 1981, is newly reported from Korean waters with description and illustration. Scolelepis (Scolelepis) kudenovi is characterized by a combination of the following morphological features: the notopodial setae are present on the setiger 1; the occipital tentacle is absent; the branchiae are partially fused to the notopodial postsetal lamellae; the notopodial and neuropodial hooded hooks are bidentate only; the notopodial hooded hooks are present on the posterior setigers. A key to Scolelepis species from Korean waters is provided in this paper.

Normal state EPR signals have been studied for the n-type$ high-T_c$ superconductors $Nd_{1.85}Ce_{0.15}CuO_{4-x} and Nd_2CuO_{3.6-x}F_{0.4-y}.$ Since EPR signals were observed only in quenched non-superconducting samples and were absent in furnace-cooled samples, our results suggest that no normal state EPR signals come from pure phase n-type hihg-Tc superconductors. Our observation is consistent with previously reported absence of nomal state EPR signals in the p-type high-Tc superconductors.

Occurence of different forms of Carabelli's cusp on the maxillary first permanent molar was studied in 282 Korean children. The results were as follows; 1. The Carabelli's cusp was absent in 36.2% of the teeth studied. 2. The percentages of various form appeared Carabelli's tubercle were as follows; a. Pronounced tubercle............9.9% b. Slight tubercle............24.5% c. Groove............25.5% d. Pit............3.9%

Two new species of Amanita were collected in central areas of Korea from 1997 to 2000. They were identified, described and illustrated. One of them, Amanita longstipeta has turtle-shaped warts of crust and its base is longer under the soil than is above the soil. The other A. aureofarinosa is covered with golden yellow farina and annulus is absent. Both are solitary in soil with sand.

The latest Pleistocene-Holocene deposits on the Korea Strait shelf form a high-frequency sequence which consists of three systems tracts: the lowstand, transgressive and highstand systems tract. The lowstand systems tract is distributed on the shelf margin and trough region, whereas the highstand systems tract is confined only to the inner shelf. Although the transgressive systems tract between the lowstand systems tract and the highstand systems tract was identified over a wide area of the shelf, it is either very thin (a few meters thick) or absent.

Electrodes were fabricated on a single ZnO nanowire by photolithography process, metal evaporation, and lift-off. The slow photoresponses of the ZnO nanowire under the continuous illumination of 325nm-wavelength light (corresponding to above-bandgap excitation) indicate that the traps related to oxygen vacancy disturb the flow of electron in ZnO nanowire. The photoresponse and PL spectra were measured, and observed that the excitonic band in the PL spectrum was absent in the photoresponse.
