Value Chain Analysis: A Brief Review

  • Value chain analysis has been applied in various fields, from the time the concept of “value chain” was introduced by Porter in 1985. Several frameworks have emerged and have been used to study individual firms, entire industries, industry clusters, as well as global production networks. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief review of these frameworks, identify factors that influence the performance of value chains, and suggest areas for future research. Since there is a wide range of value chain literature, this paper focuses on a selective set of earlier works within the value chain model as conceptualized by Porter. The study takes note of the many dimensions and applications of value chain analysis, and shows that value chain analysis is an effective way to examine the interaction among different players in a given industry. The study further points out the shortcomings of the traditional or Porter view of value chain analysis.

  • Data mining is widely used for turning huge amounts of data into useful information and knowledge in the information industry in recent years. When analyzing data set with continuous values in order to gain knowledge utilizing data mining, we often undergo a process called discretization, which divides the attribute's value into intervals. Such intervals from new values for the attribute allow to reduce the size of the data set. In addition, discretization based on rough set theory has the advantage of being easily applied. In this paper, we suggest a discretization algorithm based on Rough Set theory and SOM(Self-Organizing Map) as a means of extracting valuable information from large data set, which can be employed even in the case where there lacks of professional knowledge for the field.

Hausdorff dimension of some sub-similar sets

  • We often use the Hausdorff dimension as a tool of measuring how complicate the fractal is. But it is usually very difficult to calculate that value. So there have been many tries to find the dimension of the given set and most of these are related to the density theorem of invariant measure. The aims of this paper are to introduce the k-irreducible subsimilar sets as a generalization of the set defined by V.Drobot and J.Turner in ([1]) and calculate their Hausdorff dimensions by using algebraic methods.

퍼지란삭을 이용한 미소 거리 측정 알고리즘 개발 (Development of a Microscopic Gap Measuring Algorithm with a Fuzzy-RANSAC)

  • In this study, an image processing method with FRANSAC(Fuzzy RANSAC) is presented and discussed for the development of a microscopic gap measuring algorithm. Many problems in edge detection processing are mainly occurred by the illumination system. A serious problem is that the edge set of gap could include the error elements that have relatively larger error than normal. This problem leads to a incorrect measurement of gap. We present a gap measuring algorithm using FRANSAC[1] that is a representative robust estimation algorithm. FRANSAC is peformed by first categorizing all data into good sample set, bad sample set and vague sample set using a fuzzy classification and then sampling in only good sample set. Experimental results show that the presented gap measuring algorithm gives a higher accurate value of gap especially for the more noisy image data.

주말부부의 가족스트레스, 대처전략 및 가족건강성 연구 (A Study on the Family Stress and Coping Strategy, Family Strengths among Commuting Couples)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the family stresses and its managing strategy to cope with the stresses, and family strengths among commuting couples. The participants of this study consisted of a national samples of 134 couples (268 individuals), whose has been commuting for at least six months The major findings obtained from the study are summarized in the following: 1) The degree of family stresses among commuting couples was 2.98, when the maximal stress value was set to 5.0. The most stressful aspect for the commuting couples came from the role of parents who care for their children. 2) The degree of coping strategy among commuting couples was 3.37, when the maximal coping strategy value was set to 5.0. Among the strategies, the 'cognitive restructuring' shows the first. 3) The degree of family strengths among commuting couples was 3.76, when the maximal strengths value was set to 5.0. Also factors affecting the family strengths among commuting couples are dependent on their educational degree, religion, kind of jobs, commuting and conjugal periods, moving person, meeting frequencies, self-esteem and marital satisfaction. 4) The most effective variable of family strengths among commuting couples was marital satisfaction.

수급식탈곡기(穗給式脱穀機)의 공급율(供給率) 제어(制御)(II) -제어시스템 설계 및 시뮬레이션- (Feed Rate Control for the Head-Feed Thresher)

  • This study was undertaken to develop the feed rate control system for the head feed thresher by making use of the microprocessor and to evaluate the response of the system to a various threshing conditions. The control unit was composed of one-board microcomputer. The speed of the wet-paddy feeding chain was controlled by dc moter with PI controller. It was used the adaptive control method to maintain the constant feed rate regardless of the fed rice varieties. The sliding type potentiometer was used as the feed rate sensor, which was attached on the sheaf-holding apparatus. The mathematical models of the system components were derived and computer simulation was developed for investigating the parameters affecting on control performance and for estimating the response of the system. A one-board microcomputer-based feed rate control system developed in this study was properly functioned and assessed as adequate for the feed rate control system of the head feed thresher. Based on the simulation for the bundle feed, it was anticipated that the lower setting value of the cylinder speed(RL) is to be set higher than the limiting operational speed. In addition, the higher setting value of the cylinder speed(RH) is to be set lower than the limiting cylinder speed for threshing. The computer simulation for the continuous spread feed showed that the lower the setting value of straw layer thickness(LL) was set, the shorter the correction time. However, if too low LL may be established, the feed rate could not reach to its desired rate.

The Effect of Short-form Content Consumption Values on ConsumerParticipation Behavior and Consideration Set in SNS Channels

  • Purpose: This study examines short-platform content that is becoming more popular on social media. This study investigates the relationship between short-form content experience, consumer participation behavior, and consideration set. Furthermore, the mediating effect on empathy factors was confirmed during consumers' experience with short-form content. Data and methodology: Prior studies were reviewed, and hypotheses were developed. Consumers who had watched and shared short-form content within the previous three months were targeted to achieve the study's goal. A structured questionnaire was used to conduct the survey. Results: First, users of short-platform content with practical, playful, and emotional value did not confirm a positive effect on consumer participation behavior. However,short-form content with social value positively impacted consumer participation behavior. Second, consumer participation in short-form content was confirmed to positively affect the consideration set. Third, in terms of the mediating effect of empathy factors, short-platform content with practical, social, and emotional values partially mediates consumer participation behavior, whereas short-platform content with playfulness value completely mediates consumer participation behavior. Conclusions: The results of this study have academic and practical implications for the recent marketing field. In particular, research has been conducted in the field of digital marketing, which has recently changed rapidly.

DECISION MAKING USING CUBIC HYPERSOFT TOPSIS METHOD

  • In real-life scenarios, we may have to deal with real numbers or numbers in intervals or a combination of both to solve multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems. Also, we may come across a situation where we must combine this interval and actual number membership values into a single real number. The most significant factor in combining these membership values into a single value is by using aggregation operators or scoring algorithms. To overcome such a situation, we suggest the cubic hypersoft set (CHSS) concept as a workaround. Ultimately, this makes it simple for the decision-maker to obtain information without misconceptions. The primary aim of this study is to establish some operational laws for the cubic hypersoft set, present the fundamental properties of aggregation operators and propose an algorithm by using the technique of order of preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) technique based on correlation coefficients to analyze the stress-coping skills of workers.

  • To achieve high performance by exploiting instruction level parallelism(ILP) aggressively in superscalar processors, value prediction is used. Value prediction is a technique that breaks data dependences by predicting the outcome of an instruction and executes speculatively it's data dependent instruction based on the predicted outcome. In this paper, the performance of a hybrid value prediction scheme with dynamic classification mechanism is measured and analyzed by using execution-driven simulator for SPECint95 benchmark set.

효율적인 의미 검색을 위한 동영상 데이터 모델링 (Modeling of Video Data for Sffective Content-based Retrival)

  • 본 논문에서는 많은 양의 정보를 복합적으로 포함하는 비디오 데이터의 의미적인 접근 효율을 높이고 저장 장소를 절약하기 위한 관리 방안을 제안한다. 비디오 데이터를 단순히 화일 단위의 비드열로 간주하여 처리하는 것이 아니라 원하는 부분을 속성을 통해 의미를 기술함으로써 접근할 수 있도록 한다. 비디오 데이터는 복잡한 의미를 내포하며 의미기술에 필요한 속성이 변할 수 있으므로 데이타베스 시스템의 고정된 스키마 를 통한 의미기술 방법과 유동적인 속성 집할을 통한 의미기술 방법을 병합하여 의미 기술하도록 지원하며 사용자마다 의미 표현 방법에 차이가 있을 수 있으므로 일관된 속성값을 선택 할 수 있도록 속성과 속성값을 체계적으로 관리하는 방안을 제안한다. 또한 비디오 데이타베이스에 저장된 비디오 데이터간에 의미상속을 통해 접근 효율을 높이는 한편 비디오 데이터를 물리적으로 분리하거나 공유하여 새로운 프린젠테이션을 구 성할 수 있도록 함으로써 저장공간을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 지원한다.
