Modified atmosphere (MA) of reduced $O_2$ and elevated $CO_2$ concentrations has been used for keeping the quality of fresh produce and extending the shelf life. As a way to attain the beneficial MA package around the produce, a gas diffusion tube or perforation can be attached onto the container and controlled on real time in its opening/closing responding to $O_2$ and $CO_2$ concentrations measured by gas sensors. The timely-controlled opening of the gas diffusion tube can work in harmony with the produce respiration and help to create the desired MA. By use of the mathematical modeling, the effect of tube dimension on the controlled container atmosphere was figured out in this study. Spinach and king oyster mushroom were used as typical commodities for designing the model container system (0.35 and 0.9 kg in 13 L, respectively) because of their respiration characteristics and the optimal MA condition ($O_2$ 7~10%/$CO_2$ 5~10% for spinach; $O_2$ 2~5%/$CO_2$ 10~15% for mushroom). With a control logic for the gas composition to stay as close as possible to optimum MA window without invading injurious low $O_2$ and/or high $CO_2$ concentrations, the atmosphere of the sensor-controlled container could stay at its lower $O_2$ boundary or upper $CO_2$ limit under certain tube dimensional conditions. There were found to be the ranges of the tube diameter and length allowing the beneficial MA. The desired range of the tube dimension for spinach consisted of combinations of larger diameter and shorter length in the window of 0.3~2 cm diameter and 0.2~10 cm length. Similarly, that for king oyster mushroom was combinations of larger diameter and shorter length in the window of 0.9~2 cm diameter and 0.2~3 cm in length. Clear picture on generally affordable tube dimension range may be formulated by further study on a wide variety of commodity and pack conditions.
In this paper, an analytical model of a cantilever beam having a midpoint load is considered for structural optimization and design. This involves creation of the geometry through a parametric study of all design variables. For this purpose, the optimization of the cantilever beam was elaborated in order to find the optimum geometry which minimizes its volume eventually for minimum weight by FEM (finite element method) analysis. Such geometry can be obtained by different combinations of width and height, so that the beam may have the same cross-sectional area, yet different dynamic behavior. So for optimum safe design, besides minimum volume it should have minimum vibration as well. In order to predict vibration, different dynamic analyses were performed simultaneously to identify the resonant frequencies and mode shapes belonging to the lowest three modes of vibration. Next, by introducing damping effects, the tip displacement and bending stress at the fixed end was evaluated under dynamic loads of varying frequency. Investigation of the results clearly shows that only structural analysis is not enough to predict the optimum values of dimension for safe design it must be aided by dynamic analysis as well.
In this Paper, we propose a content-based music information retrieval (MIR) system base on the query-by-example (QBE) method. The proposed system is implemented to retrieve queried music from a dataset where 60 music samples were collected for each of the four genres in Classical, Hiphop. Jazz. and Reck. resulting in 240 music files in database. From each query music signal, the system extracts 60 dimensional feature vectors including spectral centroid. rolloff. flux base on STFT and also the LPC. MFCC and Beat information. and retrieves queried music from a trained database set using Euclidean distance measure. In order to choose optimum features from the 60 dimension feature vectors, SFS method is applied to draw 10 dimension optimum features and these are used for the Proposed system. From the experimental result. we can verify the superior performance of the proposed system that provides success rate of 84% in Hit Rate and 0.63 in MRR which means near 10% improvements over the previous methods. Additional experiments regarding system Performance to random query Patterns (or portions) and query lengths have been investigated and a serious instability problem of system Performance is Pointed out.
The study was designed to investigate overall acceptability of rice extrudate with added ginseng flour extruded by single screw extruder. Graphic three dimension analysis on response surface regression was conducted for overall acceptability evaluated by balanced incomplete block design. Overall acceptability, which formed a saddle point, increased as moisture content increased at lower die temperature, and as moisture content decreased at higher die temperature. Critical values of each variable which indicated optimum response are 5.0% ginseng content, 17.8% moisture content and 104.6$^{\circ}C$ die temperature, and optimum inferred score of overall acceptability is 59.6 and 90. Key words: extrdate, overall acceptability, response surface regression analysis, balanced incomplete block method.
A study on swirl chamber for diesel engine is to realize lower fuel consumption and exhaust emission than the current marketing engines. Author formerly reported the performance characteristics of small IDI diesel engine with swirl chamber by changing the jet passage area and its angle, and the depth and shape of the piston top cavity. Following after the first report, in this paper, the characteristics of fuel consumption, soot emission, and exhaust gas temperature were examined and analyzed after dimension of jet passage area expanded to $70.1mm^2$ The results were that the optimum values of the jet passage area depending on the depth of the piston top cavity were different at each engine speeds and loads, and in accordance with application of engine running conditions they were able to be selected as optimum dimensions of each design parameters.
In this paper, we analyzed the laminated composite sandwich plate structure of truss core with changing values of the designing parameters. As a result, in designing parameters of that, the more height and thickness of the laminated composite plate's core, the more increase of natural frequency. In this type of structure, in the case of applying core of the laminated composite plate and antisymmetric stacking, natural frequency has high value and we calculated the optimum angle-ply making natural frequency maximum. Natural frequency of CFRP is higher than that of GFRP. Both are materials of the laminated composite plate. The mode shapes are various along with the angle-ply of the laminated composite plate.

The purpose of this study is to present the optimum performance of hybrid waterproofing technology, which is including material and construction method. Recently, Hybrid waterproofing technology is developed little by little in KOREA. But there is not any other criterion of performance and evaluation of this technology. So, It is needed that appropriate performance items is are settled urgently. This paper were obtained by the SPSS analysis. In this study the safety factor are more important performance of building waterproofing materials than durability comfortability and productivity. And results of this analysis showed that (1) safety performance consists of Fatigue resistance, Crack Control performance deterioration Processing of tensile performance, Compressive Strength test (2) comfortability performance consists of watertightness, bond performance (3) persistency performance consists of abrasion resistance, tensile performance, flexural strength (4) productivity performance consists of dimension, unit space weight.
The spatial distribution characteristics and patterns of geographic features in space can be understood through a variety of analysis techniques. The scale is one of most important factors in spatial analysis techniques. This study is aimed at identifying the characteristics of spatial data with a coarser spatial resolution and finding procedures for spatial resolution in operational scale. To achieve these objectives, this study selected LANSAT TM imagery for Sunchon Bay, a coastal wetland for a study site, applied the indices for representing scale characteristics with resolution, and compared those indices. Local variance and fractal dimension developed by previous studies were applied to measure the textual characteristics. In this study, Moran s I was applied to measure spatial pattern change of variance data which were generated from the process of coarser resolution. Drawing upon the Moran s I of variancedata was optimum technique for analysing spatial structure than those of previous studies (local variance and fractal dimension). When the variance data represents maximum Moran´s I at certainly resolution, spatial data reveals maximum change at that resolution. The optimum resolution for spatial data can be explored by applying these results.
Waste fills resulting from coal mining should consist of large, free-draining sedimentary rocks fragments. The successful performance of these fills is related to the strength and durability of the individual rock fragments. When fills are made of shale fragments, some fragments will be durable and some will degrade into soil particles resulting from slaking and inter-particle point loads. The degraded material fills the voids between the intact fragments, and results in settlement. A laboratory program with point load and slake durability tests as well as thin section examination of sixty-eight shale samples from the Appalachian region of the United States revealed that pore micro-geometry has a major influence on degradation. Under saturated and unsaturated conditions, the shales absorb water, and the air in their pores is compressed, breaking the shales. This breakage was more pronounced in shales with smooth pore boundaries and having a diameter equal to or smaller than 0.060 mm. If the pore walls were rough, the air-pressure breaking mechanism was not effective. However, pore roughness (measured by the fractal dimension) had a detrimental effect on point load resistance. This study indicated that the optimum shales to resist both slaking as well as point loads are those that have pores with a fractal dimension equal to 1.425 and a diameter equal to or smaller than 0.06 mm.

In this paper, we propose a content-based audio genre classification algorithm that automatically classifies the query audio into five genres such as Classic, Hiphop, Jazz, Rock, Speech using digital sign processing approach. From the 20 seconds query audio file, the audio signal is segmented into 23ms frame with non-overlapped hamming window and 54 dimensional feature vectors, including Spectral Centroid, Rolloff, Flux, LPC, MFCC, is extracted from each query audio. For the classification algorithm, k-NN, Gaussian, GMM classifier is used. In order to choose optimum features from the 54 dimension feature vectors, SFS(Sequential Forward Selection) method is applied to draw 10 dimension optimum features and these are used for the genre classification algorithm. From the experimental result, we can verify the superior performance of the proposed method that provides near 90% success rate for the genre classification which means 10%∼20% improvements over the previous methods. For the case of actual user system environment, feature vector is extracted from the random interval of the query audio and it shows overall 80% success rate except extreme cases of beginning and ending portion of the query audio file.
