The most important factor in enhancing the performance of an optical device is to minimize reflection and increasing transmittance of light for a broad wavelength range. The choice of appropriate coating material is crucial in decreasing reflection losses at the substrate. The purpose of this review is to highlight anti-reflection coating (ARC) materials that can be applied to silicon solar cell and glass substrate for minimizing reflection losses. The optical and electrical behavior of ARC on a substrate is highly dependent on thickness and refractive index (RI) of ARC films that are being deposited on it. The coating techniques and performance of single and multi-layered ARC films after coated on a substrate in a wide range of wavelength spectrum will be studied in the paper.

This study attempts to understand the relationship between accounting information systems AIS and firms' performance; in the first part of the study, a brief introduction that focuses on the technological advancements and the impact of such advancements on the business world, and in the second part, a review of literature that considered different perspectives on the relationship between AIS and firms' performance. The key differences between manual and automated systems were shown in a table later in the literature review, followed by explanations for each comparison aspect. In the third part, four questions are asked regarding the AIS implementation; the questions covered the top management commitment, the users' competencies, the quality of the adopted system, and the impact of the degree of technological investment on the implementation process. Data for the study was acquired from a Saudi SME. The study's purpose is to investigate the impact of AIS on organizational performance in Saudi SMEs. The presented ideas of this study, where the main finding of the study is that AIS implementation has a positive impact on firms' performance.

This brief review contains surveys of both four-component and two-component relativistic molecular theories. First the four-component relativistic approach is reviewed. Emphasis is placed on efficient computational schemes for the four-component Dirac-Hartree-Fock and Dirac-Kohn-Sham methods. Next, in the twocomponent relativistic framework, two relativistic Hamiltonians, RESC and higher-order Douglas-Kroll (DK), are introduced. An illustrative application is shown for the relativistic study on valence photoelectron spectrum of OsO₄. The developing four-component relativistic and approximate quasi-relativistic methods have been packed in a program suite named REL4D.

We present a brief review for theoretical/computational studies of proton transfer processes of some simple biomolecules promoted by microsolvating water molecules. Focus is given on the relative stability of the canonical vs. zwitterionic forms of amino acids, tautomeric forms of the DNA base adenine, and the biologically active vs. inactive forms of nicotine. The biochemical implications of these findings are also discussed.

Modern ocean-going vessels are highly dynamically loaded all-welded structures. Traditionally, this fact has been taken into account in the design of ship structures by keeping the overall stress level within permissible limits and by limiting notch effects in the design of local structures. With an improving knowledge of loads and the rapid development of calculation means more detailed calculation-based methods are increasingly introduced. A brief review on fatigue assessment methods used in the design of ship structures has been given during the 1993 IIW International Conference in Glasgow. The rapid development during recent years underlines the importace of the subject and justifies its extended discussion in this paper.

In this paper, the author gave a brief review on the meaning and background involving the growth of chemical ecology. Semichemicals which might be developed as insect control techniques incorporating in IPM program were described. The relevant semichemicals were grouped under separate topics including intraspecific semiochemicals, or pheromones (sex pheromones, alarm pheromones, and epidiectic pheromones), and interspecific semiochemicals, or allelochemics (allomones of Plant origin, and kairomones favoring natural enemies). Here, the author dealt with those of practical aspects only. The prospects of chemical ecology in insect pest management were also proposed.

소음 공해의 문제는 수세기에 걸쳐 지속되어왔고, 현대 사회는 인간과 기계에 의한 소음으로 조용하고 평온한 삶을 영위하기가 점점 더 힘들어지고 있다. 소음은 일반적으로 원하지 않는 소리라고 정의된다. '원하지 않는'이란 말이 소음(noise)을 물리학적인 소리(sound)와 구멸하는 것이다. 아름다운 음악도 어떤이에겐 청각적 혼돈 상태로 느껴질 수 있듯이 어떠한 주어진 소 리를 '소음'이라 서술하는 것에는 심리 음향학(psychoacoustics)적인 요소가 강하므로 소음에 대한 연구는 그저 단순한 과학이 아니지만 그럼에도 불구하고 이는 음향학에 단단히 기초하고 있고 그전문어들을 이용한다. 따라서 음향학의 기초적인 이론과 심리음향학에 대하여 간단히 살펴보고 소음의 영항과 소음 환경을 이해한 뒤, 소음의 제어에 대한 예를 보는 것으로 소음 과학에 대한 개략적인 이해를 돕고자 하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다.

As the first assembly of the human genome was announced on June 26, 2000, we have entered post genome era. The genome sequence represents a new starting point for science and medicine with possible impact on research across the life sciences. In this review I tried to offer brief summaries of history and progress of the Human Genome Project and two major challenges ahead, functional genomics and DNA sequence variation research.

A brief review is presented on the ion beam application in science and technology. ion beams are used very effectively in various fields of science and technology, on the basis of advance in accelerator technology and experimental techniques for ion beam utilization. Recent progress in this field is reviewed in terms of the direct ion beam utilization like ion beam analysis, and the utilization of neutrons as secondary particles.

Carcinosarcoma of the esophagus have an interesting pathologic feature of admixture of carcinomatous and sarcomatous lesion and accounts for 0.5∼1.5% of all esophageal neoplasm. Generally, it has been reported that these have better prognosis than the squamous cell carcinoma. We have experienced two cases of carcinosarcoma occurring at the mid-esophagus. In both two cases, Ivor Lewis operation was performed and lymph node metastasis was absent. The pathologic diagnosis was confirmed as carcinosarcoma. Postoperative course was uneventful and the patients have been followed up for 3 months and 3 years, respectively, without any problems. We report these cases with a brief review of the literatures.
