Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-X계 합금의 첨가원소에 따른 비정질 형성능 (Effect of Alloying Elements on the Glass Forming Ability of Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-X Alloys)

  • The glass formation behavior was investigated in the melt spun Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni-X (X=B, P and Si) ribbons. The magnitude of supercooled liquid region of Zr-Ti-Cu-Ni alloy increased with an addition of alloying element. The glass transition temperature and the crystallization temperature increased and the magnitude of supercooled liquid region decreased with increasing the content of alloying elements. The largest supercooled liquid region was observed in the Si containing alloy. This is believed to be due to the dense atom packing with the optimum atomic size ratio of constituent elements.

Nanocrystallization of Cu-Based Bulk Glassy Alloys upon Annealing

  • The Cu-based bulk glassy alloys in Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni systems were prepared by means of copper mold casting. The Cu-based bulk glassy alloys samples were tested by X-ray diffractomer (XRD), differential scanning calorimeter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Instron testing machine and Vickers hardness instruments. The result indicated that the prepared Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni alloys were bulk glassy alloys. The temperature interval of supercooled liquid region (${\Delta}T_x$) was about 45.48 to 70.98 K for the Cu-Zr-Ti-Ni alloy. The Vickers hardness was up to 565 HV for the $Cu_{50}Zr_{25}Ti_{15}Ni_{10}$ bulk glassy alloy. The $Cu_{50}Zr_{25}Ti_{15}Ni_{10}$ bulk glassy alloys were annealed in order to obtain nanocrystals. The results showed that the Vickers hardness was raise up to 630 HV from 565 HV. As shown in XRD results, the amorphous alloys changed to nanocrystals, which were $Cu_8Zr_3$, $Cu_3Ti_2$ and CuZr, improved the hardness. The SEM analysis showed that the compression fractured morphology of amorphous alloys was brittle fracture, and the fracture morphology after annealing was ductile fracture. This proved that annealing of amorphous to nanocrystals can improve the plasticity and toughness of amorphous alloys.

급냉응고법으로 제조한 Zr-Ni-Cu-Al-Ti 합금의 열적, 기계적 성질 (Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Rapidly Solidified Zr-Ni-Cu-Al-Ti Alloy)

  • 급냉응고방식으로 제조한 비정질 Z $r_{62-x}$N $i_{10}$C $u_{20}$A $l_{8}$ $Ti_{x}$ (x=3, 6, 9at%) 합금을 사용하여 열적, 기계적 성질을 조사하였다. 시효온도에 따른 결정화 거동은 Ti 3at%에서는 비정질$\longrightarrow$비정질+Z $r_2$A $l_3$+Zr+(Ni,Ti)$\longrightarrow$Z $r_2$Cu+Al+(Ni,Ti)의 결정화 거동을 나타내었으며, Ti 6at%에서는 비정질$\longrightarrow$비정질+Al$\longrightarrow$A $l_2$Ti+NiZr+CuTi, Ti 9at%에서는 비정질$\longrightarrow$비정질+Zr+Al$\longrightarrow$Zr+A $l_2$Zr+Al $Ti_3$+CuTi의 결정화 거동을 보였다. 시효온도가 증가할수록 비정질 모상에 석출상의 체적율( $V_{f}$ )이 증가하고 그에 따라 비커스 경도 ( $H_{v}$ )간이 증가하였다. 파괴인장강도($\sigma_{f}$ )는 $V_{f}$ 의 증가에 따라 증가하다가 Z $r_{59}$A $l_{10}$N $i_{20}$C $u_{8}$ $Ti_3$$V_{f}$ =38%에서 1219MPa의 최대값을 보이고, Z $r_{56}$A $l_{10}$N $i_{20}$C $u_{8}$ $Ti_{6}$$V_{f}$ =2%에서 1203MPa의 최대값을 보이고, Z $r_{53}$A $l_{10}$N $i_{20}$C $u_{8}$ $Ti_{9}$ $V_{f}$ =5%에서 1350MPa의 최대값을 나타낸 후 그 이상의 $V_{f}$ 에서는 급격히 감소하였다. $\sigma_{f}$ 가 급격히 감소하는 $V_{f}$ 와 연성 파면에서 취성파면으로 천이되는 $V_{f}$ 가 일치하였다.f/가 일치하였다.

  • Multicomponent $Zr_{41.2}Ti_{13.8}Cu_{12.5}Ni_{10}Be_{22.5}$ bulk matallic glass alloy shows good bulk glass forming ability due to its high resistance to crystallization in the undercooled liquid state.1) In this study, DSC and X-ray diffractometry have been performed to confirm the amorphous structure of the master $Zr_{41.2}Ti_{13.8}Cu_{12.5}Ni_{10}Be_{22.5}$ alloy. To investigate the mechanical properties and deformation behaviors of the bulk metallic $Zr_{41.2}Ti_{13.8}Cu_{12.5}Ni_{10}Be_{22.5}$ alloy, a series of compression tests has been carried out at the temperatures ranging from $351^{\circ}C$ to $461^{\circ}C$ and at the various initial strain rates from $2{\times}10^{-4}s^{-1}\;to\;2{\times}10^{-2}s^{-1}$. There are two types of nominal stress-strain curves. The one shows linear stress-strain relationship meaning fracture at maximum stress, the other shows plastic deformation including steady-state flow. Also DSC analysis for the compressed specimens has been performed to investigate the change of thermal stability and crystallization behavior for the various test conditions.

Zr0.8Ti0.2Mn0.4V0.6Ni1-xFex 합금 전극의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Properties of Zr0.8Ti0.2Mn0.4V0.6Ni1-xFex Alloy Electrodes)

  • A series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22, and 0.30) alloys are prepared and their oystal structure and P-C-T curves are examined. The electrochemical properties of these allqys such as activation conditions, discharge capacity, cycling performance are also investigated. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{1-x}Fe_{x}$ (x=0.00, 0.08, 0.15, 0.22 and 0.30) have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The electrode was activated by the hot-charging treatment. The best activation conditions were the current density 120 mA/g and the hot-charging time 12h at $80^{\circ}C$ in the case of the alloy with x=0.00. The discharge capacity increased rapidly until the fourth cycle and then decreased. The discharge capacity increased again from the 13th cycle, arriving at 234 mAh/g at the 50th cycle. The discharge capacily just after activation decreases with the increase in the amount of the substituted Fe but the cycling performance is improved. The discharge capacity after activation of the alloy with x=0.00 is 157 mAh/g at the current density 120 mA/g. $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Fe_{0.15}$ is a good composition with a medium quantity of discharge capacities and a good cycling performance. The ICP analysis of the electrolyte for these electrodes after 50 charge-discharge cycles shows that the concentrations of V and Zr are relatively high. Another series of multicomponent $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}M_{0.15}$ (M = Fe, Co, Cu, Mo and Al) alloys are prepared. They also have the C14 Laves phase hexagonal structure. The alloys with M = Co and Fe have relatively larger hydrogen storage capacities. The discharge capacities just after activation are relatively large in the case of the alloys with M = Al and Cu. They are 212 and 170 mAh/g, respectivety, at the current density 120mA/g. The $Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2}Mn_{0.4}V_{0.6}Ni_{0.85}Co_{0.15}$ alloy is the best one with a relatively large discharge capacity and a good cycling performance.

Cu계 및 Ni계 비정질 합금 분말을 이용한 비정질기지 복합재의 제조 및 특성 (Synthesis and Properties of Amorphous Matrix Composites using Cu-based/Ni-based Amorphous Powders)

  • This work is to present a new synthesis of metallic glass (MG)/metallic glass (MG) composites using gas atomization and spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes. The MG powders of $Cu_{54}Ni_6Zr_{22}Ti_{18}$ (CuA) and $Ni_{59}Zr_{15}Ti_{13}Nb_7Si_3Sn_2Al_1$(NiA) as atomized consist of fully amorphous phases and present a different thermal behavior; $T_g$ (glass transition temperature) and $T_x$ (crystallization temperature) are 716K and 765K for the Cu base powder, but 836K and 890K for the Ni base ones, respectively. SPS process was used to consolidate the mixture of each amorphous powder, being $CuA/10\%NiA\;and\;NiA/10\%CuA$ in weight. The resultant phases were Cu crystalline dispersed NiA matrix composites as well as NiA phase dispersed CuA matrix composites, depending on the SPS temperatures. Effect of the second phases embedded in the MG matrix was discussed on the micro-structure and mechanical properties.

Research of Diffusion Bonding of Tungsten/Copper and Their Properties under High Heat Flux

  • W (tungsten)-alloys will be the most promising plasma facing armor materials in highly loaded plasma interactive components of the next step fusion reactors due to its high melting point, high sputtering resistance and low deuterium/tritium retention. The bonding technology of tungsten to Cu alloy was one of the key issues. In this paper, W/CuCrZr diffusion bonding has been performed successfully by inserting pure metal interlay. The joint microstructure, interfacial elements migration and phase composition were analyzed by SEM, EDS, XRD, and the joint shear strength and micro-hardness were investigated. The mock-ups were fabricated successfully with diffusion bonding and the cladding technology respectively, and the high heat flux test and thermal fatigue test were carried out under actively cooling condition. When Ni foil was used for the bonding of tungsten to CuCrZr, two reaction layers, Ni4W and Ni(W) layer, appeared between the tungsten and Ni interlayer with the optimized condition. Even though Ni4W is hard and brittle, and the strength of the joint was oppositely increased (217 MPa) due primarily to extremely small thicknesses (2~3 ${\mu}m$). When Ti foil was selected as the interlayer, the Ti foil diffused quickly with Cu and was transformed into liquid phase at $1,000^{\circ}C$. Almost all of the liquid was extruded out of the interface zone under bonding pressure, and an extremely thin residual layer (1~2 ${\mu}m$) of the liquid phase was retained between the tungsten and CuCrZr, which shear strength exceeded 160 MPa. When Ni/Ti/Ni multiple interlayers were used for bonding of tungsten to CuCrZr, a large number of intermetallic compound ($Ni_4W/NiTi_2/NiTi/Ni_3T$) were formed for the interdiffusion among W, Ni and Ti. Therefore, the shear strength of the joint was low and just about 85 MPa. The residual stresses in the clad samples with flat, arc, rectangle and trapezoid interface were estimated by Finite Element Analysis. The simulation results show that the flat clad sample was subjected maximum residual stress at the edge of the interface, which could be cracked at the edge and propagated along the interface. As for the rectangle and trapezoid interface, the residual stresses of the interface were lower than that of the flat interface, and the interface of the arc clad sample have lowest residual stress and all of the residual stress with arc interface were divided into different grooved zones, so the probabilities of cracking and propagation were lower than other interfaces. The residual stresses of the mock-ups under high heat flux of 10 $MW/m^2$ were estimated by Finite Element Analysis. The tungsten of the flat interfaces was subjected to tensile stresses (positive $S_x$), and the CuCrZr was subjected to compressive stresses (negative $S_x$). If the interface have a little microcrack, the tungsten of joint was more liable to propagate than the CuCrZr due to the brittle of the tungsten. However, when the flat interface was substituted by arc interfaces, the periodical residual stresses in the joining region were either released or formed a stress field prohibiting the growth or nucleation of the interfacial cracks. Thermal fatigue tests were performed on the mock-ups of flat and arc interface under the heat flux of 10 $MW/m^2$ with the cooling water velocity of 10 m/s. After thermal cycle experiments, a large number of microcracks appeared at the tungsten substrate due to large radial tensile stress on the flat mock-up. The defects would largely affect the heat transfer capability and the structure reliability of the mock-up. As for the arc mock-up, even though some microcracks were found at the interface of the regions, all microcracks with arc interface were divided into different arc-grooved zones, so the propagation of microcracks is difficult.

$Al_2O_3$, CuO와 $MnO_2$가 첨가된 $Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3-Pb(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ 유전체의 저온 소결 및 압전 특성 (Low Temperature Sintering and Piezoelectric Properties of $Al_2O_3$, CuO and $MnO_2$ Added $Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3-Pb(Zn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ Ceramics)

  • [ $MnO_2$ ]가 첨가된 $0.9Pb(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})O_3-0.2Pb[(Zn_{0.8}Ni_{0.2})_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}]O_3$(0.8PZT-0.2PZNN) 세라믹스는 그 압전특성과 유전특성이 뛰어나지만 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이하의 낮은 소결 온도에서는 소결되지 않는다. $1000^{\circ}C$이하의 낮은 소결온도에서 소결하기 위해 CuO를 첨가한 결과, 소결온도 $920^{\circ}C$에서 소결성은 우수하였으나 그 압전 특성의 저하가 두드러졌다. 이는 XRD에서 확인한 결과에 따르면 CuO의 첨가가 우수한 MPB 조성으로 판명된 $MnO_2$ 가 첨가된 0.8PZT-0.2PZNN 세라믹스의 결정구조를 Rhombohedral 구조로 바꾸기 때문인 것으로 보였으며 이러한 문제는 PZNN의 비율을 조절하여 0.875PZT-0.125PZNN 세라믹스를 선택함으로 인해 해결할 수 있었다. 그러나 여전히 낮은 $Q_m$값을 높이기 위해서 $Al_2O_3$를 첨가하였고 그 결과 시편의 tetragonality 감소와 $Q_m$값의 증가를 확인할 수 있었으나 그 첨가량이 0.2wt% 이상일 경우에는 밀도의 감소로 인한 압전특성의 저하가 나타났다. 밀도의 향상을 위해 Zn and Ni excess 조성을 선택하였고 그 결과 0.5wt% $MnO_2$와 0.2wt% CuO 그리고 0.3wt% $Al_2O_3$를 첨가한 0.875PZT-0.125PZNN 세라믹스(Zn and Ni excess 조성)를 $920^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 경우 $k_p=0.581,\;Q_m=809,\;d_{33}=345\;pC/N\;and\;{\varepsilon}_{33}/{\varepsilon}_0=1345$의 빼어난 압전 및 유전특성과 $330^{\circ}C$의 높은 $T_c$를 보였고 그 조성의 vibration velocity는 약4.5 m/s로 나타났다.

방전플라즈마소결을 이용한 Ni계 비정질 복합재의 제조 (Synthesis of Ni-based Metallic Glass Composite Fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering)

  • A bulk metallic glass-forming alloy, $Ni_{59}Zr_{20}Ti_{16}Si_2Sn_3$ metallic glass powders was used for good commercial availability and good formability in supercooled liquid region. In this study, the Ni-based metallic glass was synthesized using by high pressure gas atomized metallic glass powders. In order to create a bulk metallic glass sample, the $Ni_{59}Zr_{20}Ti_{16}Si_2Sn_3$ metallic glass powders with ball-milled Ni-based amorphous powder with 40%vol brass powder and Cu powder for 20 hours. The composite specimens were prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering for the precursor. The SPS was performed at supercooled liquid region of Ni-based metallic glass. The amorphous structure of the final sample was characterized by SEM, X-ray diffraction and DSC analysis.

PNN 변화에 따른 저온소결 PMN-PNN-PZT 세라믹스의 유전 및 압전특성 (Piezoelectric and Dielectric Characteristics of Low Temperature Sintering PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics with the amount of PNN substitution)

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, 0.07Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-xPb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-(0.93-x)Pb(Zr,Ti)O_{3}$ ceramics system were fabricated using $Li_{2}CO_{3}-Bi_{2}O_{3}$-CuO sintering aids and the specimens were sintered at $930^{\circ}C$. Thereafter their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated with the amount of PNN substitution. At 9[mol%] PNN substitution, electromechanical coupling factor (kp), mechanical quality factor (Qm) and piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) showed the optimum value of 0.60, 1323 and 387pC/N, respectively.
