Hot dip metallic coated steels like as galvanized (GI), zinc-aluminium (GL) and aluminium coated steels are mostly used where corrosion resistance is needed. There are two kinds (type 1 and type 2) of aluminium coated steel being commercially used among them. Type 1 aluminium coated steel is coated with an Al-5~11 wt%Si alloy and Type 2 aluminium coated steel consists of commercially pure aluminium. Type 1 Al coated steel is generally used in automotive components and electrical appliances while type 2 aluminium coated steel is mainly used in construction applications such as building cladding panels, air conditioning and ventilation system. In this study, Type 1 aluminium coated steels have tested by accelerated conditions (salt spray or corrosive gas) and outdoor exposure condition in order to understand their corrosion behaviour. Due to the distinct corrosion mechanism of Al which exposes to the severe chloric condition, Salt Spray Test cannot predict the ordinary atmospheric corrosion of Al based coated materials. In addition, the test results and their corrosion feature of Al coated steel sheets will be discussed comparing with other metallic coated steel sheets of GI and GL.
Throughout CGL(Continuous Galvanizing Line) in steel works, zinc-coated steel sheets are produced which are used where long-running corrosion resistivity is required. During the galvanizing process, top dross is created and floated on the zinc pot. Because the dross leaves ill patterns on the coated sheets, it is removed manually with shovel-like tools in about twenty minutes. Because, however, the working environment is very noisy, hot and harmful to human workers, a robot system is developed and implemented on a real plant to automatically remove the top dross. It consists of a robot and its carriage system, a pot level sensor, a system controller, and special tools to collect, pick up, and put the top dross into a dross waste basket. A system software is developed to monitor the system status. A series of tests were performed to verify the robot motion and adaptation to working conditions, and proved successful work.

Continuous wave C $O_{2}$ laser beam welding and formability of zinc coated steel plates were investigated. First, the optimal welding condition could be obtained in lap configuration by using the data for heat input, gap size and fracture behaviour. The gap size for fully-penetrated bead could be predicted by the gap model by Akhter et al. AIso, it was found that the joining efficiency was constant. Secondly, the butt welding of dissimilar materials (zinc coated steel plate and cold rolled steel plate) with different thicknesses was investigated. In the thickness range of 0.8-2.0 mm, the maximum welding speed of 10m/min was obtained. In the butt welding of two plates with thickness 2.0 mm and l.6mm, the maximum, welding speed of 6m/min was obtained, Finally. the forming results of butt-welded plates showed that the joining design was important to apply the laser welded blank in the automotive production.

This article aims to apply a friction stir spot welding for producing a lap joint of AA1100 aluminum alloy and SGACD zinc coated steel. The experiment was designed by MINITAB and then investigated the relation among the friction spot joint parameters. The experimental results are as follows. The friction spot joining could successively produce the lap joint of AA1100 aluminum alloy and SGACD zinc coated steel. Interaction between the rotate speed, the hold time and the tool insert speed affected to vary the tensile shear strength of the lap joint. The prediction of the optimized welding parameters that indicated the tensile shear strength of 1966 N was the rotated speed of 4000 rpm, the pin hold time of 6 sec, the pin insert rate of 6 mm/min with the S/N ratio of 66.56 that was higher than that of the total mean S/N ratio. The practical experiment of the predicted welding parameters indicated the tensile shear strength of 2165 N and had the S/N ratio of 66.70 that was higher than the predicted tensile shear strength.
Forming limit diagrams for three different galvanized deep drawing quality steel sheets have been measured by hemispherical punch stretching. The experimental forming limit diagrams have been compared with results calculated using the shear instability criterion and the M-K model which takes into account a strain gradient effect resulting from bending (curvature) of a flat sheet by punch stretching. The measured data were in good agreement with the results calculated using exponent M value of 8 in Hosford's yield criterion for the M-K model and M= 6 for the shear instability model.
Tensile test results using three kinds of steel structure specimens are measured and compared. Slip coefficient between shot blasted steel plates was greater than 0.6. For the case of the plates coated with Super zinc, it revealed that the coefficients were greater than 0.5. On the other hand, Super epoxy coating decreased its slip coefficient less than 0.25. Steel plates coated with Super zinc are proved to be practically applicable to the steel structures with anti-corrosion characteristics and clean surfaces.
In general, multi-lap spot weld joints are frequently present in automobile. Most research, however, has been focused on the single-lap spot weld joints until now. In this paper, tensile-shear strength tests are performed to examine the weldability of 3-lap spot joint welded by using the high strength steel sheet and the zinc coated steel sheet. The indentation depth and nugget diameter are used to propose the optimum welding conditions. The weldability is affected by the welding current and welding time for 3-lap spot joint. Meanwhile the expulsions is round to decrease with the increase of electrode force. The optimum welding conditions are presented for 3-lap spot joints of high strength steel sheet and zinc coated steel sheet.
Laser welding is high power density welding method which is higher speed and productivity, lower thermal deformation, without material restrictions for car body welding. But, in case of zinc coated sheet metal welding, the gap is needed $0.1{\sim}0.2mm$ to avoid weld bead blowup. This paper describe that it used dimple and pressure roller tool to improve laser welding quality for 3-layer zinc coated sheet metal.
The thermal contact conductance at different temperatures and with different electrode forces and zinc coating morphology was measured by monitoring the infrared emissions from the one dimensionally simulated contact heat transfer experiments. The contact heat transfer coefficients were presented as a function of the harmonic mean temperature of the two contacting surfaces. Using these contact heat transfer coefficients and experimentally measured temperature profiles, the electrical contact resistivities both for the faying interface and electrode-workpiece interface were deduced from the numerical analyses of the one dimension simulation welding. It was found that the average value of the contact heat transfer coefficients for the material with zinc coating (coating weight from 0 g/$mm^2$to 100 g/$mm^2$) ranges from 0.05 W/$mm^2$$^{\circ}C$ to 2.0 W/$mm^2$$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range above 5$0^{\circ}C$ harmonic mean temperature of the two contacting surfaces. The electrical contact resistivity deduced from the one dimension simulation welding and numerical analyses showed that the ratio of electrical contact resistivity at the laying interface to the electrical contact resistivity at the electrode interface is smaller than one far both bare steel and zinc coated steel.
