Exploration on factors to affect continuance intention of collegian subscribing YouTube: Focused on Post-adoption Model (대학생 유튜브 구독 이용자의 지속이용 영향요인에 관한 탐색 : 기술 수용 후 모형(Post-adoption model)을 중심으로)

  • The present study analyzed the effector that has an influence on continuance intention to use YouTube that is a prime platform to distribute visual contents. Whether the dispersion of information communication technology succeeds or not is determined by a more extent which user uses active and continued than adopts fast. From this point of view, we employed partial least square(PLS) path modeling to analyze structural causality among constructs in the post-adoption model(PAM). As a result, all paths given in PAM except for the path 'confirmation-satisfaction' were validated. Especially, confirmation mediated with satisfaction than perceived usefulness has a more effect on continuance intention. Finally, we described the limitation of the present study and the suggestion for future research.

Uses and Gratifications on Subscribed YouTube Channels : Centered on Motives for Ritualized use and Instrumental Use, Flow, and Satisfaction (유튜브 구독자의 이용과 충족에 관한 연구 : 의례적 이용동기, 도구적 이용동기, 몰입 및 만족을 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to explore YouTube subscribers' uses and gratification through PLS path modeling. Especially, we identified the types of use motives grounded on ritualized (MR) and instrumental (MI) use motives; and then showed two motives have an effect on satisfaction directly and indirectly through mediating of flow. We employed PLS path modeling to analyze structural causalities among the constructs. We found all of the presented hypotheses are supported respectively. Two motives (MR and MI) had an effect on flow and satisfaction. Flow also had an effect on satisfactions. Namely, satisfaction was explained directly and indirectly, through mediated with flow, by MR and MI. Finally, we presented implications of findings and suggestion for future study.

A Machine Learning-based Popularity Prediction Model for YouTube Mukbang Content (머신러닝 기반의 유튜브 먹방 콘텐츠 인기 예측 모델)

  • In this study, models for predicting the popularity of mukbang content on YouTube were proposed, and factors influencing the popularity of mukbang content were identified through post-analysis. To accomplish this, information on 22,223 pieces of content was collected from top mukbang channels in terms of subscribers using APIs and Pretty Scale. Machine learning algorithms such as Random Forest, XGBoost, and LGBM were used to build models for predicting views and likes. The results of SHAP analysis showed that subscriber count had the most significant impact on view prediction models, while the attractiveness of a creator emerged as the most important variable in the likes prediction model. This confirmed that the precursor factors for content views and likes reactions differ. This study holds academic significance in analyzing a large amount of online content and conducting empirical analysis. It also has practical significance as it informs mukbang creators about viewer content consumption trends and provides guidance for producing high-quality, marketable content.

Factors Influencing Consumer's Purchase Intention on Beauty Products in Youtube

  • Purpose: This research aims to explain the influence of social media influencer (SMI), electronic word of mouth (EWOM), and perceived quality (PQ) on purchase intention (PI) of beauty products on YouTube. Youtube as the number 1 social media in Indonesia, has an important role as a promotional strategy media for beauty products. Research design, data and methodology: This study used the online survey to 210 female respondents aged 17-30 years who became a subscriber of an Indonesian beauty influencer. Simple regression and multiple regressions were performed to analyze the independent variables towards the dependent variable. Results: The results show that social media influencer, electronic word of mouth, and perceived quality simultaneously have a significant influence on purchase intention. Nevertheless, only two variables individually have a significant influence on purchase intention, which is social media influencer and perceived quality. Conclusions: Perceived quality and social media influencer could be the best strategies to increase consumers when promoting through the influencer's Youtube channel by utilizing a subscriber. While e-WOM can be influential on other social media platforms rather than on the Youtube platform. Therefore, suggested that digital marketer must use multiple social media platforms to increase consumers' purchase intention.
