Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the consumers' response of famous fashion YouTubers in Korea, and to identify differences in consumer response based on the gender and generation of YouTubers. During the period from the opening of fashion creators' YouTube channels, we collected postings on blogs and Internet cafes using textom. As a result of preliminary investigation, six fashion YouTubers were selected. First, all the selected fashion YouTubers were well recognized by consumers as fashion informants. However, Milanonna has been shown to act as a life advisor and as an informant for luxury brands at the same time. Second, female fashion YouTubers were perceived with themes related to daily life, beauty, emotions, and mood rather than fashion itself; whereas, male fashion YouTubers appeared to be more interested in fashion accessories, especially with respect to the basic style. Third, Generation Z fashion YouTubers used the most non-fashion keywords, and their Millennial counterparts used keywords related to fashion items and product purchase properties. However, consumer response to OPAL fashion YouTubers have emerged with items such as life experiences, wisdom, and advice. Moreover, OPAL fashion YouTubers showed a variety of consumer assessments and the YouTuber's personal background. This study's analysis of the differences in the consumer response to fashion YouTubers based on gender and age enables the establishment of an appropriate strategy to attract target consumers and identify their appeal points.

  • As the business ecosystem has become more uncertain, the sources of supply chain risk have also been becoming more diverse. In particular, due to the development of informational technology in recent years, firms need to consider the emerging supply chain risk sources as well as traditional supply chain risk sources. A typical example is negative word-of-mouth by social media. Therefore, we investigated the virality of negative word-of-mouth on manufacturing firms by using YouTube as a representative social media. More specifically, we investigated how the social capital of the video creator influences the virality of negative word-of-mouth and how the emotional tone of the video affects the virality of negative word-of-mouth. In conclusion, the social capital of the video creator influenced the scale and speed of negative word-of-mouth. Furthermore, negative emotion words moderated the relation between the social capital of the video creator and the scale of negative word-of-mouth.

  • This study aims to examine the role of IT features as heuristic cues in choosing a content on YouTube. According to the heuristic-systematic model, people tend to rely on heuristic cues when they have to choose and process useful information quickly so that they could save time and reduce demands for thinking. Based on this line of reasoning, this study posits that YouTube users rely on certain IT features as heuristic cues in choosing contents before they actually watch them. Based on the prior literature and interviews with YouTube users, we develop a research model in which social endorsement, self-presentation, and interactivity are identified as potential determinants of users' attitude toward contents, which in turn influence their intention to watch them. To empirically test the research model, we conduct a laboratory experiment and a follow-up survey. The results of data analysis show that social endorsement for the content, YouTube creator's self-presentation, and interactivity have significant and positive effects on their attitude toward the content, leading to their intention to watch it. This study suggests that IT features on YouTube could be wisely utilized to increase the chance that users choose a particular content out of many competing contents when they search certain information on YouTube.

  • In this study, models for predicting the popularity of mukbang content on YouTube were proposed, and factors influencing the popularity of mukbang content were identified through post-analysis. To accomplish this, information on 22,223 pieces of content was collected from top mukbang channels in terms of subscribers using APIs and Pretty Scale. Machine learning algorithms such as Random Forest, XGBoost, and LGBM were used to build models for predicting views and likes. The results of SHAP analysis showed that subscriber count had the most significant impact on view prediction models, while the attractiveness of a creator emerged as the most important variable in the likes prediction model. This confirmed that the precursor factors for content views and likes reactions differ. This study holds academic significance in analyzing a large amount of online content and conducting empirical analysis. It also has practical significance as it informs mukbang creators about viewer content consumption trends and provides guidance for producing high-quality, marketable content.
