  • The purpose of this study in the patient suffering from scoliosis analyse the degree of scoliosis, Cobb's angle, by Yoga exercise therapy and then find the effects of Yoga program on idiopathic scoliosis. In this study, yoga program restores flexibility and elasticity by relaxing and contracting muscles around vertebrea. It could help scoliosis from balancing agonistic muscle, antagonistic muscle and synergistic muscle during exercise. so did pelvis movement and vertebral twisting movement. The subject for this experiment was a meddle school girl diagnosed with scoliosis in C hospital in Gwang-ju city. In order to find the effects of yoga program on idiopathic scoliosis, conducted yoga program 60minutes a day, 5days a week for 12weeks. Before and after experiment, measured Cobb's angle by radiation and verified effects. First, master of yoga and chiropractor studied and made movement together. Second, Yoga program-developed about scoliosis was prescribed for the meddle school girl suffering from scoliosis during 12weeks. Third, Feasibility and effect was verified on idiopathic scoliosis by yoga program. As a result, the amount of curvature was reduced about 5degrees than before and improved the idiopathic scoliosis. Lots of Yoga movements help patients of idiopathic scoliosis to be improved. It shows that Yoga program could give adolescent scoliosis a hand.

  • Background: Integrative medical research is needed to explore the development direction of new yoga therapy. Purposes: A systematic literature review is conducted to analyze the current status of clinical research on yoga therapy into scientific categories, and to explore the content and development direction of yoga therapy. Methods: Through electronic databases such as RISS, NDSL, DBpia, e-article, and KISS, 530 domestic academic papers were selected from 2010 to 2018 and the final 28 were extracted based on PRISMA guidelines. Results: As a result of the study, in terms of quality, it remained at 3b of the CEBM level of evidence, and in terms of quantity, the number of experimental groups in the entire clinical study was 288, so domestic clinical studies of yoga therapy are insufficient. It was found that 80% of yoga therapy was exercise therapy focusing on asana movements. This seems to be due to a lot of researchers in the field of physical education. Conclusions: These results indicate that understanding and practice of the Ashtanga-yoga's training system and Pancha-kosha theory from the perspective of integrative medicine are necessary. In other words, yoga therapy is required to develop into an integrated mind-body therapy program that integrates holistic healing yoga based on individual mental and physical constitution, meditation therapy based on Ayurveda, and exercise therapy.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a body alignment correction program on asymmetrically developed squash players. Method : 30 experienced squash players who showed asymmetric body development, after evaluation of moire topography contour line shape, were involved in the experiment. All of them were right-handed and had more than five years of experience playing squash. Variables of body composition, moire topography and EMG were statistically compared between pre- and post- application of the 12-week body alignment correction program. The program consisted of 10-minute, left-handed forehand and backhand drive movements and 36 minutes performing 12 different yoga postures. Results : First, the body alignment correction program showed significant effects on the total weight, body fat percentage, and body mass index of the participants. Second, a decrease of right side inclined angles and an increase of left side inclined angles might result in a higher left-right symmetry rate and a better left-right balance; however the data was not statistically significant. Third, the EMG left-right deviation of erector spinae and latissimus decreased and the erector spinae muscle was thought to be more essential for vertebral movement and left-right asymmetry correction. Conclusion : A body alignment correction program, including yoga and opposite side exercises, could reduce left-right asymmetry.
