A detailed experimental program was conducted to investigate the flexural behavior of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) beams reinforced with high strength steel (HSS) rebars with a specified yield strength of 600 MPa via direct tensile test and monotonic four-point bending test. First, two sets of direct tensile test specimens, with the same reinforcement ratio but different yield strength of reinforcement, were fabricated and tested. Subsequently, six simply supported beams, including two plain UHPC beams and four reinforced UHPC beams, were prepared and tested under four-point bending load. The results showed that the balanced-reinforced UHPC beams reinforced with HSS rebars could improve the ultimate load-bearing capacity, deformation capacity, ductility properties, etc. more effectively owing to interaction between high strength of HSS rebar and strain-hardening characteristic of UHPC. In addition, the UHPC with steel rebars kept strain compatibility prior to the yielding of the steel rebar, further satisfied the plane-section assumption. Most importantly, the crack pattern of the UHPC beam reinforced with HSS rebars was prone to transform from single main crack failure corresponding to the normal-strength steel, to multiple main cracks failure under the condition of balanced-reinforced failure, which validated by the conclusion of direct tensile tests cooperated with acoustic emission (AE) source locating technique as well.
To investigate the load bearing capacity of axially preloaded circular hollow section (CHS) stub columns strengthened by carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), theoretical analysis is carried out. The yield strength and the ultimate strength of a CFRP strengthened preloaded CHS stub column are determined at the yielding of the CHS tube and at the CFRP fracture, respectively. Theoretical models are proposed and corresponding equations for calculating the static strengths, including the yield strength and the ultimate strength, are presented. Through comparison with reported experimental results, the theoretical predictions on the static strengths are proved to be accurate. Through finite element (FE) analyses, parametric studies for 258 models of CFRP strengthened preloaded CHS stub columns are conducted by considering different values of tube diameter, tube thickness, CFRP layer and preloading level. The static strengths of the 258 models predicted from presented equations are proved to be in good agreement with FE simulations when the diameter-to-thickness ratio is less than 90ε2. The parametric study indicates that the diameter and the thickness of the steel tube have great effects on CFRP strengthening efficiency, and the recommended ranges of the diameter and the thickness are proposed.
Yielding dampers exhibit varying cyclic behavior based on their geometry. These dampers not only increase the energy dissipation of the structure but also increase the strength and stiffness of the structure. In this study, parametric investigations were carried out to explore the impact of angled U-shape damper (AUSD) dimensions on its cyclic behavior. Initially, the numerical model was calibrated using the experimental specimen. Subsequently, analytical equations were presented to calculate the yield strength and elastic stiffness, which agreed with the experimental results. The outcomes of the parametric studies encompassed ultimate strength, effective stiffness, energy dissipation, and equivalent viscous damper ratio (EVDR). These output parameters were compared with similar dampers. Also, the magnitude of the effect of damper dimensions on the results was investigated. The results of parametric studies showed that the yield strength is independent of the damper width. The length and thickness of the damper have the greatest effect on the elastic stiffness. Reducing length and width resulted in increased energy dissipation, effective stiffness, and ultimate strength. Damper width had a more significant effect on EVDR than its length. On average, every 5 mm increase in damper thickness resulted in a 3.6 times increase in energy dissipation, 3 times the effective stiffness, and 3 times the ultimate strength of the model. Every 15 mm reduction in damper width and length increased energy dissipation by 14% and 24%, respectively.
This study developed internal dose coefficients for radioiodine, tailored to the Korean population, by incorporating the Korean biokinetic model along with the Korean S values. The observed differences in dose coefficients for Koreans compared to the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) reference values noticeably varied depending on physical half-lives of iodine isotopes. For longer-lived isotopes such as I-125 and I-129, significant differences in thyroid dose coefficients were observed, with ratios (Korean/ICRP) from 0.30 to 0.55, indicating that actual doses for Koreans can be considerably lower than those evaluated based on the ICRP data. However, for short-lived iodine isotopes, such as I-131, the thyroid dose coefficients were comparable to the ICRP reference values (ratio = 0.95-0.98). These comparable dose coefficients resulted from the lower thyroidal iodine uptake in the Korean model being almost entirely offset by the higher thyroid self-absorption S values in the Korean phantoms. Additionally, this study delves into the substantial differences in absorbed dose coefficients for non-thyroidal regions and effective dose coefficients, which arose not only from physiological/anatomical variability but also technical differences in phantom design. The use of Korean-specific dose coefficients is advisable particularly in scenarios predicting elevated doses, yielding a more precise and clinically relevant dose assessment.

The objective of present paper is to investigate elasto-plastic behaviour and estimate the resistance capacity of a beam-shear wall structural system against earthquake ground accleration exciations. Pushover analysis is adopted to estimate inttiate and post stiffnesses and yielding point for inelastic response analysis in LPM (Lumped Parameter Mass) model, and modified Clough model is used as the hysteresis rule of each story. Three earthquake waves are used in the analysis but their peak ground accelerations are changed to be 0.12g, 0.24g. It is assumed that the earthquakes act in the longigtudianl direction of a 25 Story apartment building which consists of two some unit plan. The distribution of story ratio and ductility ratio are estimated and discussed within Korean, Japanese code and UBC.

In this paper, the structural properties of the existing reinforced concrete(RC) piers are surveyed and the major factors influencing the member strength and deformation capacity are identified. Also a seismic evaluation procedure of RC piers is presented. The factors controlling the member strength are the applied axial load, the reinforcement ratio and yield strength of longitudinal rebar for flexural strength, and the transverse reinforcement for shear strength. Member deformation capacity largely depends on transverse reinforcement ratio and anchor detail, and splice location of longitudinal reinforcement. The above structural detail should be investigated for the detail seismic evaluation of RC piers. The most of existing RC piers have inadequate transverse reinforcement anchor details and the splices of longitudinal reinforcement in the pier bottom where plastic hinges are formed after yielding. Therefore the deformation capacity is not enough for the ductile flexural behavior of the RC piers. The presented evaluation procedure can be used for the rational decisions as to seismic retrofitting of the existing RC piers.

A study is a experiment which is figure out to optimum discharge cutting condition of the surface roughness, electronic discharging speed and electrode wear ration with Ton , Toff and V(voltage) as an input condition according to the current(Ip) in an electric spark machine : 1) Electrode is utilized Cu and Graphite. 2) Work piece is used the material of carbon steel. The condition of experiment is : 1) Current is varied 0.7(A) to 50(A) and the time of electric discharging to work piece in each time is 30(min) to 60(min). 2) After the upper side of work piece was measured in radius(5$\mu$m) of stylus analyzed the surface roughness to ade the table and graph of Rmax by yielding data. 3) Electro wear ratio is : \circled1Cooper was measured ex-machining and post-machining by the electronic balance. \circled2The ex-machining of graphite measured by it, the post-machining was found the data from volume $\times$specific gravity and analyzed to made its table and graph on ground the data. 4) In order to keep the accuracy of voltage affected to the work piece was equipped with the A.V. R and the memory scope was sticked to the electric spark machine. 5) In order to preserve the precision of current, to get rid of the noise occured by internal resistance of electric spark machine and to force injecting for the discharge fluid , it made the fixed table for a work piece to minimize the work error by means of one's failure during the electric discharging.
Effects of $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ and boron compounds ($Na_2B_4O_7:H_3BO_3=5:1\;ratio$) on the flame retarding characteristics of the surface modified wood powder-filled polypropylene composites were studied experimentally. The mechanical properties of m-phenylene dimaleimide(PDMI)-modified polypropylene composite were also compared with those of unmodified one. The flame retardance of $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$-modified wood powder composites was more improved than that of boron compounds-modified one. The impact strength of composites increased and the tensile strength of those decreased progressively with an increase of wood powder loading. The mechanical properties of modified polypropylene composites are more improved than those of unmodified one. The tensile strength also increased marginally with increasing the concentration of flame retardants, yielding a maximum when the concentration of flame retardant is 25.0 wt %. And the tensile strength of the composite was increased up to 16 wt % with increasing concentration of PDMI.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the $P-{\Delta}$ effect in the case of weak beam unbraced frames by experimental approach. To evaluate $P-{\Delta}$ effect, four specimens were tested under monotonic loading condition. The parameters of tests are the stiffness of column and the axial load ratio. The results show that the value of axial load affects frame stability because $P-{\Delta}$ effects promote the yielding of beam. The maximum lateral load increases in proportion to the increment of column stiffness and rotational stiffness of supports, The collapse mechanism of weak beam unbraced frames is stably formed in the condition of low axial load ratio. The $B_2$ factor of limit state design code does not properly consider the $P-{\Delta}$ effect in inelastic region.
