New distribution record of northern lineage plant of Stellaria filicaulis(Caryophyllaceae) from South Korea

  • A northern lineage plant, Stellaria filicaulis (Caryophyllaceae), was newly found in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do of South Korea. This species is distributed in China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and Russia. On the Korean Peninsula, St. filicaulis, however, has been known to grow in North Korea. Species identification was confirmed using morphological characteristics and DNA sequence data, while comparing with materials obtained from herbarium specimens. Stellaria filicaulis is distinguished from St. longifolia by having smooth surface of stem, petals about twice longer than sepals. On the neighbor-joining tree, St. filicaulis formed a clade, and the species is closely related to St. longifolia of the Parviflorae clade. Details of the morphological characters, the type specimens, voucher specimens data, and photographs of St. filicaulis in South Korea are presented. In addition, it is likely that a new habitat will be found by plant biodiversity field surveys through the middle part of the Korean Peninsula. Further research is needed to determine its population size, distribution, and threats, as well as identify appropriate locations for conservation collection of germplasm.

고대산 북서사면(경기도 연천군) 지역의 식물상 및 산림군락 분류에 관한 연구 (A Study of Flora and Community Classification of Forest Vegetation in Northwest Slope of Mt. Godae(Gyeonggi-do, Yeoncheon-gun))

  • 2003년 3월부터 10월까지 고대산을 대상으로 식물상과 산림군락을 조사하였다. 관속식물은 94과 299속 481종 1아종 66변종 4품종 1교잡종으로 총 553종류인 것으로 나타났으며, 한국특산식물은 8과 11속 13종 총 13종류, 희귀 및 멸종위기식물은 12과 15속 15종 총 15종류, 귀화식물은 9과 15속 17종 총 17종류로 나타났다. 산림군락은 신갈나무-철쭉군목, 신갈나무-생강나무군단, 갈참나무-신갈나무군락, 굴참나무신갈나무군락, 당단풍-신갈나무군락으로 전체 1군목, 1 군단 3군락이 분포하는 것으로 나타났다.

경기도 내 분포·서식 생물종에 대한 주요 조사의 통합적 분석 및 함의 (Integrated Analysis of Major Surveys on Biota in Gyeonggi Province and its Implications)

  • The inventory list of wildlife species inhabiting or distributing in Gyeonggi Province was made by compiling species data from precedent surveys, 10 national level nature surveys, 1 survey that Gyeonggi-do conducted, and 46 local surveys presented in scientific journals. Total 2,913 wildlife species including 2,041 vascular plants, 39 mammals, 304 birds, 34 herptiles, 145 fish, and 350 benthic macro-invertebrates were listed in the inventory. It explains 47% of nationwide total species in vascular plants, 31.5% in mammals, 58.2% in birds, 65.4% in herptiles, 12.2% in fish. The total number of important species including endangered species, national monuments, national red lists, etc. was 628 species, accounting for 21.6% of all listed species in Gyeonggi Province. More than 90% of endangered bird species, almost half of endangered fish and herptile species were found in Gyeonggi Province. In particular, abundant bird diversity and inhabitation of many endangered bird species were identified in Gyeonggi Province. Species diversity was greater in the northern area adjacent to the Demilitarized Zone and the eastern forest area. The distribution of the important species such as national endangered species was more distinct in these areas, especially in Gapyeong and Yeoncheon Counties. The inventory list compiled in this study implicates the level of management for biological resources and can provide information for policy decisions regarding new survey sites, protection management of specific species and areas, management practices by spatial characteristics. It should be more compiled and updated with survey data to be utilized as basic indices for local biodiversity strategies and management of biological resources.

중국과 한국에 서식하는 흰넓적다리 붉은쥐, Apodemus peninsulae Thomas (포유강, 설치목), 3아종의 형태적 형질의 변이 (Morphometric Variation in Three Subspecies of Korea Field Mice, Apodemus peninsulae Thomas(Mammalia, Rodentia), in China and Korea)

  • 중국과 한국에 서식하는 흰넓적다리붉은쥐(Apodemus Peninsulae) 3아종의 표본들의 4개 외부형질과 27개 두골형질들을 다변량통계 방법으로 분석하였다. 4개형(form)으로 나뉘 어졌는데, 한국의 월악산과 연천의 아종 peninsulae와 중국의 길림과 흑룡성의 아종 praetor 는 가장 큰 형이며, 중국 내몽고의 아종 praetor와 중국 산서와 산동성의 아종 sowerbyi는 큰형이고, 중국 북경의 아종 sowerbyi는 중간 형이며, 중국 신강성의 아종 sowerbyi는 작은 형이었다. Corbet(1978)는 아시아 대륙내의 흰넓적다리붉은쥐의 분포범위에서는 2아종 (peninsulae and sowerbyi)으로 분류된다고 하였지만, 형태적 형질을 이용한 본 연구에서 아 종 praetor와 peninsulae가 큰 형이었고, 아종 sowerbyi는 3개의 형태로 나뉠 정도로 다양했 으므로, 단지 2아종으로만 분류할 수가 없음이 밝혀졌다. 중국과 러시아의 다른 표본들을 포 함한 계속되는 연구가 본 종의 확실한 분류의 완성을 위해서 필요하다.

시흥군(始興郡) 서면일대(西面一帶)의 광화구제구조(鑛化規制構造)와 항공사진해석결과(航空寫眞解析結果)와의 비교연구(比較硏究) (The Study of Structural Control and Relative Photogeological Interpretation on Shiheung Mine Region)

  • One of the biggest sulfide metallic (Cu, Pb, Zn) ore deposits of South Korea is located in the area of Seo-myeon, Shiheung-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Geology of the region is mostly composed of metasediments of biotite schist, graphite schist, injection gneiss, sericite schist, limesilicate and quartzite from bottom, those are applicable to so-called Yeoncheon System of Pre-Cambrian, and granodiorite, quartz porphyry, basic dykes are outcroped in a small scope as intrusives. The origin of the ore deposit is pyrometasomatic contact deposits due to hydrothermal replacement and the ore bodies are imbedded in lower bed of limesilicate formation as impregnation and ore minerals are galena, sphalerite, marmatite, chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, covellite, and the later two minerals are both hypogene and supergene. Gangue minerals are mostly skarn minerals those hornblende, diopside, epidote, hedenbergite, chlorite, garnet and quartz except primary calcite and quartz. Boundary plane (NS strike) between schists and limesilicate seemed to be primary opening of ore solution and fractures bearing $N50^{\circ}{\sim}80^{\circ}W$ are secondary structural control for localization of ore minerals and the third structural controls are both irregular gashes and schistosity in small scale. Photogeological study was carried with vertical aerial photo scaled 1: 38,000 and enlarged 1 : 10,000 under stereoscope. The study on the area convinced the fact that the geologic boundaries between rocks, limesilicates and quartzites, are traced easily by their typical topographic feature and drainage, and the main fracture patterns which derived from the result of fracture traces, that photogeologic lineament observed under stereoscope, are those bearing (1) $N20^{\circ}W$, (2) $N58^{\circ}W$, (3) $N76^{\circ}W$, (4) EW, (5) $N20^{\circ}W$, (6) $N62^{\circ}W$, (7) $N77^{\circ}W$. Among the written fractures, (5) (not schistosity, in case of fault) (6) (7) are post-mineral faults and others are pre-mineral faults and others are pre-mineral structures, and (2) (3) (6) (7) are coincided with statistical figure of 208 fractures surveyed in underground. By the result of the study, mineralized zone, are presumed to extend north and southward, total length about 4km.

The Relationship Between the Social Network of Community-living Elders and Their Health-related Quality of Life in Korean Province

  • Objectives: This study aimed to collect information that will help enhance the social networks and improve the quality of life among elderly people by observing the relationship between their social network and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and by analyzing social network factors affecting HRQoL. Methods: This study was based on the 2008 Community Health Survey in Yeoncheon County. Three hundred elders were included in the study population. We compared the revised Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS-R) score and Euro quality of life-5 dimensions health status index by demographic characteristics and chronic disease prevalence. We analyzed the data using multiple regression and tobit regression by setting the HRQoL as the dependent variable and social network and other characteristics as the independent variables. We analyzed social network factors by using factor analysis. Results: The LSNS-R score differed significantly according to age and existence of a spouse. According to the results from the hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the LSNS-R explained 0.10 of the variance and LSNS-R friends factor explained 0.10 of the variance. The tobit regression indicated that the contribution of the LSNS-R family size factor to the regression coefficient of the independent variable that affected the HRQoL was $B_T$=2.96, that of the LSNS-R family frequency factor was $B_T$=3.60, and that of LSNS-R friends factor was $B_T$=5.41. Conclusions: Social networks among elderly people had a significant effect on HRQoL and their networks of friends had a relatively higher effect than those of family members.

경기도일부지방의 콩밭에서 채집한 식물선충의 종류와 분포조사 (Distribution of Nematode Genera in Soybean Fields of Kyong-gi Province)

  • 경기도의 6개지역 120개 콩밭에서 채집한 식물선충의 분포를 조사하였다. 검출율이 각지역 공히 높게 나타난 선충은 콩씨스트선충인 Heterodera glycines로서 $71.7\%$의 콩밭에서 발견되었다. $50\%$이상의 콩밭에서 발견된 선충들을 보면 Aphelenchus $70.8\%$, Aphelenchoides $68.3\%$, Tylenchus $66.7\%$, Dityenchus $52,5\%$ 등이었다. 선충을 검출포장에서의 밀도로 살펴보면 Aphelenchoides, Aphelenchus, Ditylenchus 및 Tylenchorhynchus 등의 선충으로 토양 500g당 1,000마리 이상 검출된 콩밭도 있었다. 밀도는 높지 않지만 문헌상으로 중요한 선충들로서는 콩씨스트선충이 속한 Heterodera, 식물 virus 매개체로 알려진 Trichodorus와 Xiphinema가 발견되었으며 세계적으로 넓게 분포되어 많은 작물에 피해를 주는 것으로 알려져 있는 Pratylenchus 속의 선충도 분포되어 있었다. 지역별로는 연천에서 14속의 선충이 검출되어 가장 많았으며 양주에서 13속, 파주와 김포 및 남양주에서 각각 10속씩 그리고 고양에서 9속의 선충이 발견되었다.

Detection of vivax malaria sporozoites naturally infected in Anopheline mosquitoes from endemic areas of northern parts of Gyeonggi-do (Province) in Korea

  • We investigated population densities of mosquitoes infected with sporozoites in three highly epidemic areas of Josan-ri and Jangpa-ri (Paju City) and Dongjung-ri (Yeoncheon County) in Korea. Anopheline mosquitoes were collected front both indoors and outdoors by human baiting collection method during the period of the first week of June to the second week of September 1999. Total 13,296 female mosquitoes were collected and 8,650 (65.1%) were Anophelines. Thirty seven percent (3,199) of the Anopheline mosquitoes were captured outdoors and 63.9% (5,531) indoors. Employing a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), we analyzed a total of 7,820 Anopheline mosquitoes and found that 7 Anopheline mosquitoes were infected with sporozoites. The positive rate in Josan-ri was 0.14% (5/3,500) and 0.15% (2/1,370) in Jangpa-ri. The total positive rate in all three surveyed areas was 0.09% (7/7,820). The mosquitoes infected with the sporozoites were detected on June $28^{th}$ (n=2), July $5^{th}$ (n=1), July $19^{th}$ (n=1), August $9^{th}$ (n=1), September $6^{th}$ (n=1), and the last one on September $13^{th}$ (n=1). They were all classified as Anopheles sinensis, which showed positive reaction in ELISA test. Therefore it might be concluded that Anopheles sinensis plays an important role in re-emerging malaria transmission in Korea.

논 재배 콩의 재배조건에 따른 생장 분석 (Growth Analysis of Soybean depending on Cultivating Method in Paddy Field)

  • 콩의 논 재배시 생육반응은 밭에서와는 다른 결과가 예상되므로, 논재배 콩의 휴립조건에 따른 생장분석을 분석 하고자 화엄 풋콩 등 5품종을 고휴와 평휴로 재배하여 생육반응을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 휴립조건에 따른 콩의 지상부 생육은 경장의 경우 전 생육기에서 평휴재배시 높은 경향을 보이지만, 분지수와 경직경은 생육 후기로 갈수록 고휴조건에서 큰 경향을 보였다. 그러나 지상부 생육은 재배조건에 따른 차이보다, 품종간 차이가 보다 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 논에서 휴립 조건에 따른 생육단계별 콩의 지상부생육은, 생육초기인 V5 stage에서는 평휴재배시 건물 생산능력이 고휴재배시 보다 높았으나, 생육이 진전될수록 고휴로 재배할 때 건물중 생산이 높았으며, 전 생육기간 동안 품종별 차이가 뚜렷하였다. 재배조건에 따른 콩의 논에서의 지하부의 생육은, V5, R2 및 R5 stage 등 전 생육기간동안 고휴 재배시 지하부의 생육이 평휴재배조건 보다 왕성하였으며, 재배방법에 따른 고휴재배 효과는 나타나지 않았으나, 품종간 차이는 컸다. T/R율은 평휴로 재배할 경우 높았고, 재배방법에 따른 고휴재배 효과는 나타나지 않았으나, 품종간 차이는 인정되었다.

우도근역의 지질 및 토양에 관한 연구 (A Study of Gelology and Soil in Dagdo Quadrangle.)

  • 1. 실사결과(實査結果), 독도도폭(纛島圖幅)의 지질(地質)은 변성퇴적암(變成堆積巖)과 화강암(花崗巖)으로 이루어져 있다. 2. 현휘경하(顯徽鏡下)의 관찰(觀察)에 의(依)하여 그 변성퇴적암(變成堆積巖)들은 장석(長石), 석영편암(石英片岩), 흑운모편마암(黑雲母片麻岩) 및 견운무편암(絹雲毋片岩)으로 분류(分類)할 수 있었다. 3. 장석석영편암(長石石英片岩)에 관입(貫入)한 서울화강암(花崗岩)은 독도도폭(纛島圖幅)의 서반부(西半部)에 분포(分布)되어 있다. 4. 서울화강암(花崗岩)은 쥬라기(紀)에 관입(貫入)한 것으로 믿어지며 따라서 상기변성암(上記變成岩)들의 생성년대(生成年代)가 쥬라기이전(紀以前)인 것은 분명(分明)하다. 5. 각암석(各岩石)의 풍화토양(風化土壤)을 시험분석(試驗分析)한 결과(結果) 변성암(變成岩)의 풍화토(風化土)는 일반적(一般的)으로 화강암토양(花崗岩土壤)보다 더 풍화(風化)되어 있었다. 그러나 그중(中) 어떤 것은 불균등(不均等)한 풍화(風化)의 진행(進行)을 보여준다.
