  • Redefining the difference among the Yamaguchi's 'so-called Yeoncheon system,' north Korean's 'Rimjin System' and Yeoncheon Group of national geological map, authors tried to avoid a possible misunderstanding of concept between Yeoncheon Group and Imjingang fold Belt. As a tool of preliminary geological mapping and or N-S reconnaissance of the whole Yeoncheon Group, an interpretation technique of satellite image from various angles has been applied to understand the geometrical attitude of strike and dip of random spot, and a further concept like as cross section.

Dam Failure and Unsteady Flow Analysis through Yeoncheon Dam Case(I) -Analysis of Dam Failure Time and Duration by Failure Scenarios and Unsteady Flow - (연천댐 사례를 통한 댐 파괴 부정류해석 및 하류 영향 검토(I) -댐 파괴 시나리오와 부정류 해석을 통한 지속시간 및 파괴시간 해석-)

  • This study aims at the estimation of dam failure time and dam failure scenario analysis of and applied to Yeoncheon Dam which was collapsed August 1st 1999, using HEC-HMS, DAMBRK-FLDWAV simulation model. As the result of the rainfall-runoff simulation, the lancet flood amount of the Yeoncheon Dam site was $10,324\;m^3/sec$ and the total outflow was $1,263.90\;million\;m^3$. For the dam failure time estimation, 13 scenarios were assumed including dam failure duration time and starting time, which reviewed to the runoff results. The simulation time was established with 30 minutes intervals between one o'clock to 4 o'clock in the morning on August 1, 1999 for the setup standard for each case of the dam failure time estimation, considering the arrival time of the flood, when the actually measured water level was sharply raising at Jeongok station area of the Yeoncheon Dam downstream, As results, dam failure arrival time could be estimated at 02:45 a.m., August 1st 1999 and duration time could be also 30 minutes. Those results and procedure could suggest how and when dam failure occurs and analyzes.

Formative Age and Process on Basalt of Lava Plateau in the Cheolwon and Yeoncheon Areas, Central Korea (철원 및 연천 지역 용암대지 현무암의 형성 시기 및 형성 과정)

  • The Cheolwon-Pyeonggang Lava Plateau on the Chugaryeong tectonic valley is one of the most extensive volcanic areas in central Korea. However, formative age and process of the plateau still remains a controversial issue. This study presented OSL ages on the upper and lower sedimentary layers of basalt from four sites in the Cheolwon and Yeoncheon areas and estimated age and process of plateau formation based on sedimentary- and chrono-stratigraphy and topographic analysis. The results suggested that most of the initial topography of the plateau on the Cheolwon and Yeoncheon areas had been almost completed before approximately 90 ka. However, the last lava flow around Jangheung-ri, Cheolwon, seemed to occur until 20-30 ka and had led to complete the present plateau, while the last lava flow in the Jeongok area, Yeoncheon, was estimated to occur at approximately 40 ka.

Drought Assessment Using Standardized Precipitation Index and Streamflow Drought Index in Yeoncheon Region (연천지역의 표준 강수 지수와 하천 유량 가뭄지수를 이용한 가뭄 평가)

  • Long-term droughts and frequent spring droughts are causing damage to crops, which are the means of livelihood of residents of the Yeoncheon region. To analyze the degree of drought in Yeoncheon, the ratio of monthly precipitation and discharge was reviewed through observed data, and the standardized precipitation index and streamflow drought index were calculated. As a result of drought analysis using precipitation and discharge observation stations near the Yeoncheon basin, it was analyzed that the drought that occurred in 2014 was common to all drought indices and that drought occurred continuously until 2019, either large or small. In the case of drought indices with a duration of 12 months, it is expected that the damage caused by the drought would be severe as the drought period lasted 24 months. In order to manage drought damage, it is important to understand and predict the current state of drought. In order to cope with drought in advance, it is urgent to implement an integrated operation management strategy for rivers and waterworks structures according to the degree and duration of drought.

  • Push-ups are one of the body exercises that can be easily measured anytime, anywhere. As one of the most widely used techniques as a test tool for evaluating physical strength, they are broadly used in various fields, especially in fields that require physical ability to estimate, such as military, police, and firefighters. However, social distancing is currently being implemented, and the issue of fairness has been steadily raised due to subtle differences between measurement. Accordingly, in this paper, the correct posture for each individual was photographed and learned by a high-performance computer, and the result was derived by comparing it with the case of performing the incorrect posture of the individual. If method is introduced into the physical fitness evaluation through the proposed method, the individual takes the correct posture and learns the photographed photo, and measures the posture with several images taken during a given time. Through this, it is possible to measure more objectively because it measures with the merit that can be measured even in the present situation and with one's correct posture.

  • Yeoncheon Hong Seok-joo(淵泉 洪奭周: 1774-1842) faithfully followed a policy of restoration of literary style of king Jeongjo. He was an young vassal after 1794 and influenced by Jeongjo because Yeoncheon was around the king. Furthermore, he had comparatively favorable working period as a vassal(仕宦期, 1795-1836) after death of Jeongjo(1800) while establishing his own academic viewpoint. Therefore, a study about art theory of Yeoncheon Hong Seok-joo is one about logical system to accept various desires for change of then while not getting rid of scope of Neo-Confucianism after Jeongjo. It is catched that exchange of Hong Seok-joo and Jeong Yak-yong was made relating to study of Sangseo. Hong Seok-joo and Jeong Yak-yong absorbed in study of Sangseo, which is come from putting importance on 6 scriptures (經) among studies of scriptures by both of them. Through this, they aimed to re-discover ideology of original Confucian studies as one for cultivating oneself and governing people (修己治人之學). Dasan and Yeoncheon have something in common that they were young vassals who were cultivated as a guarding power for Jeongjo centered on Gyujanggak. They were largely fit to view of literature(文體觀) of Jeongjo. Hong Seok-joo distinguished function of prose(文) and poetry(詩) into teaching moral(明敎) and moving people(感人) in the category of Mun-yi-jae-do(文以載道) based on thoughts of 'literature is linguistic device for Taoism '(道本文末)' which is a core concept of literature theory based on Neo-Confucianism. He gave a careful attention on instructional and social function in prose while on emotional understanding that puts importance on temper and the secrets of nature in poetry. Hong Seok-joo regarded moral impression and edification through this as a core of artistic creation based on Segyoseol(世敎說). Furthermore, expressions such as 'Heunggwangunwon(興觀群怨)' or 'Yeohangguyo(閭巷謳謠) which are mentioned as important elements in his artistic works put importance on actual existence of objective things in artistic activity and this is connected to an attitude to require description fit to fact. So, it is assumed that such expression style aimed for features of genre painting in painting arts. Understanding of the study of ancient documents by Yeoncheon developed from critical perspective. He criticized the study of ancient documents, saying it as first, Pasoijisul(破碎之術), second, Dotaekjisul(塗澤之術), third, Hoimojisul(毁侮之術). Jeong Yak-yong criticized ' theory on the Odes' from viewpoint of theory of Mun-yi-jae-do(文以載道) based on Neo-Confucianism. He stressed political and social function of Sipeon and general poetry in "the Odes" and reinterprets discourses about poetry of Zhu Xi based on his own opinion. He says that poems of national fashion do political and social criticism. The theory of national fashion by Jeong Yak-yong clearly discloses his thoughts that stress practical role of noblemen in the social and political context.

Degree of Self-Understanding Through "Self-Guided Interpretation" in Yeoncheon, Hantan River UNESCO Geopark: Focusing on Readability and Curriculum Relevance (한탄강 세계지질공원 연천 지역의 자기-안내식 해설 매체를 통한 스스로 이해 가능 정도: 이독성과 교육과정 관련성을 중심으로)

  • This study examined whether the "self-guided interpretation" media in the Yeoncheon area of the Hantangang River UNESCO Geopark are intelligible for visitors. Accordingly, two on-site investigations were conducted in the Hantangang River Global Geopark in September and November 2022. The Yeoncheon area, known for its diverse geological features and the era of geological attraction formation, was selected for analysis. We analyzed the readability levels, graphic characteristics, and alignment with science curriculum of the interpretive media specific to geological sites among a total of 36 self-guided interpretive media in the Yeoncheon area. Results indicated that information boards, primarily offering guidance on geological attractions, were the most prevalent type of interpretive media in the Yeoncheon area. The quantity of text in explanatory media surpassed that of a 12th-grade science textbook. The average vocabulary grade was similar to that of 11th- and 12th-grade science textbooks, with somewhat reduced readability due to a high occurrence of complex sentences. Predominant graphic types included illustrative photographs, aiding comprehension of the geological formation process through multi-structure graphics. Regarding scientific terms used in the interpretive media, 86.3% of the terms were within the "Solid Earth" section of the 2015 revised curriculum, with the majority being at the 4th-grade level. The 11th-grade optional curriculum terms comprised the second largest portion, and 13.7% of all science terms were from outside the curriculum. Notably, variations in the scientific terminology's complexity was based on geological attractions. Specifically, the terminology level on the homepage tended to be generally higher than that on information boards. Through these findings, specific factors impeding visitor comprehension of geological attractions in the Yeoncheon area, based on the interpretation medium, were identified. We suggest further research to effect improvements in self-guided interpretation media, fostering geological resource education for general visitors and anticipating advancements in geology education.

Factors Influencing the Sense of Community for Build Rural Community (농촌 마을만들기 참여주민의 공동체 의식 영향요인)

  • This study aims to examine the sense of community for build rural community. Data were collected from 205 local residents residing in Yeoncheon-gun where the community building project and education were undertaken to analyze the data. Data was analyzed by using analysis of hierarchical regression analysis. Results summarized as follows. First, the most influencing factor on sense of community of the resident' participation in rural community building was continuous participation. Second, the influencing factors of sociodemographic were occupation, income level, and age on entire and sub factors of sense of community partially. Third, participation expansion, the sub factor of community participation influenced on sense of belonging, the feeling of solidarity, and conscious of mutual influence. As a result of taking a look at the effect of resident participation in overall sense of community, continuous participation was shown to influence in entire sense of community.

A Preliminary Study on the Chemical Compositions of Precipitation in the Rural Area of Kyunggi Province near Demilitarized Zone (비무장지대에 인접한 경기도 농촌지역 강수의 화학적 성분에 관한 기초 연구)

  • preliminary study on the chemical compositions of forty seven precipitations from March 1994 to May 1995 In Yeoncheon-gun, which Is adjacent to the southern boundary of demilitarized zone (DMZ) in the northernmost tip of Kyunggi Province has been Performed. The metal cation and anion concentrations were measured by atomic absorption spectrometer and ion chromatography, respectively. pH/lon meter and direct nesslerization method were used for the concentration measurements of $H^+$ ion and $NH_46+$ ions, respectively Based on the data, the quantitative orders of the cation and anion average concentrations were $Ca^{2+}>NH_4^+>Na^+>K^+>Mg^{2+}>H^+ and SO_4^{2+}>Cl^-> NO_3^-$, respectively..The ratio of average total anion concentration to average total cation concentration was 0.97. The average pH value of the precipitations was 5.60. These results, correlation coefficients between the ion concentrations, and monthly variations of pH value and precipitation amount are used for chemical analysis on the environmental Pollution and Pollutant sources In Yeoncheon-gun of Kyunggi province near DMZ.

Gravity and Magnetic Surverys for Volcanic Rocks in Yeoncheon Area, kyonggi-do (경기도 인천지역 분포하는 화산암류에 대한 중력 및 자력 탐사 연구)

  • The gravity and magnetic measurements have been obtained from 34 stations with 50m intervals along the survey line positioned between Jangtanri and sindapri for studying subsurface geology and structures of the volcanic rocks in Yeoncheon area. The Bouguer gravity and magnetic anomaly values were evaluated from the reduction of the field observation, and then interpreted by Nettleton's method and maximum-pepth rules, are approximately 160m based on magnetic data and 135m based on gravity data. High Bouguer gravity anomaly zone between 0m in Jangtanri and 900m along the survery line, is caused by thick and high density, older dasalt which is positioned beneath jijangbong tuff breccia, and this result corresponds to the interpretation result based on magnetic anomly. Lower gravity and magnetic anomaly zones ariund 900m are caused by between 1300m and 1550m are caused by high density of Quarternary basalt exposed in the surface, and lower gravity and magnetic anomalies at 200m and 1250m are caused by faults.
