In order to investigate the effect of the Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang, Indongduengjigolpitang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang that are the model prescriptions for diabetic soyangin. The contents of serum glucose, insulin, total triglyceride and urine glucose, ketone-body and urine volumn and body-weights were mesured on the Alloxan-Induced diabetic Rats. The following results have been measured. 1. Yangkyuksanwhatang, Indonduengjigolpitang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang showed significant decreases on the serum glucose and particulruy Sookjiwhanggosamtang decreased significantly. 2. The contents of serum insulin on the Alloxan-Induced diabetic Rats comparing with normal group were increased in Yangkyuksanwhatang and Indongduengjigolpitang with no significance but Sookjiwhanggosamtang showed a significant increase on the serum insulin. 3. The contents of serum triglyceride were decreased in three groups, but Indongduengjigolpitang showed the significant decrease and others did not. 4. The contents of serum total cholesterol were signicantly decreased In indongduengjigolpitang but Yangkyuksanwhatang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang did not. 5. The contents of urine glucose simillary decreased in three groups. 6. The contents of urine ketone-body were not changed comparing with control group in Yangkyuksanwhatang and Indongduengjigolpitang groups, but Sookjiwhanggosamtang group showed some increase. 7. The urine volume were significantly decreased in Yangkyuksanwhatang, but Indongduengjigolpitang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang showed the decrease of urine volume with no significance. 8. Body weights were regained comparing with control group, but only Indongduengjigolpitang showed significant increase. According to the above results, Yangkyuksanwhatang, Indongduengjigolpitang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang had the effect for hyperglycemia, particulary Indongduengjigolpitang was assumed as having the effect for hyperlipemia and weight-loss induced by D. M.. Therefore, by this experiments it can be concluded that Yangkyuksanwhatang, indongduengjigolpitang and Sookjiwhanggosamtang recorded in "DongYi Soose Bowon" have the effect for soyangin diabetics.

The possibility of Chungpesagantang, Sunghyangjunggisan and Yangkyuksanwhatang, which have been recommended for stroke patients with constipation in traditional Korean clinics, was evaluated as a novel antithrombotic agent. Chungpesagantang potently inhibited ADP- and collagen-induced rat platelet aggregation in vitro, but Sunghyangjunggisan and Yangkyuksanwhatang did not inhibit it. However, all tested herbal formulae inhibited in vivo ADP- and collagen-induced rat platelet aggregation and extended the bleeding time of mice tails. All these herbal formulae did not affect certain plasma clotting times such as APTT, PT and TT. Among these herbal formulae, Chungpesagantang showed significant protection against death due to pulmonary thrombosis in mice. Based on these findings, these herbal formulae should prevent thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infraction stroke, and arteriosclerosis.

1. 연구배경 및 목적 소양인(少陽人) 신정방(新定方)의 하나인 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)의 효능(效能)과 활용(活用)에 대한 임상적(臨床的) 연구(硏究)를 통해 사상체질병증(四象體質病證)의 이해(理解)와 방제(方劑)의 운용(運用)에 도움을 주고자 한다. 2. 방법 1997년 3월부터 1998년 2월까지 1년간 동국대학교 분당한방병원 체질의학클리닉에 내원(來院)한 환자들 중 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)이 20첩 이상 투여되고 경과관찰(經過觀察)이 가능했던 65명(남자 40명, 여자 25명)을 대상으로 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)이 투여된 환자의 특성, 치료효과, 부작용 등에 관하여 조사하고 분석하였다. 3. 결과 소양인(少陽人)의 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)은 남녀 구별 없이 모든 연령층에서 사용되었으며, 대상환자들의 주소증은 흉민(胸悶), 수족병(手足病), 운동장애(運動障碍), 구건(口乾), 상열감(上熱感) 등 37종류였다. 치료효과의 분포는 호전이 58.5%, 우수가 12.3%, 별무변화가 29.3%였으며 악화는 없었다. 전신상태(全身狀態)의 특징으로는 설태(舌苔)가 백태(白苔) 또는 황태(黃苔)를 띄거나 간출이상(刊出異常)이 있는 경우가 많았다. 처방(處方)을 활용할 때는 처방의 변경없이 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)만을 사용한 경우가 많았으며 병증(病症)에 따라 약물을 증량(增量)하거나 가미(加味)하여 사용하였다. 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)의 치료효과(治療效果)에는 약물의 가감유무(加減有無)가 영향을 미쳤으며, 효과발현시간(效果發顯時間)은 연령이 젊을수록 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 부작용으로는 심계(心悸), 복통(腹痛) 및 소화불량(消化不良) 등이 있었다.

Analgesic, anticonvulsive, sedative and antipyretic actions of Yangkyuksanwhatang which is composed of nine crude drugs including Rehmanniae Radix, and its effects on isolated ileum and blood vessel were investigated. The results of the studies were summerized as follows; 1. Analgesic and antipyretic effects were observed. 2. Suppressive actions were not shown on the convulsion induced by strychnine, but significant effects were noted on the convulsion induced by picrotoxin. 3. A prolongation of anesthetic time induced by pentobarbital sodium was significantly observed. 4. Relaxing actions were noted on the ileum of mice, and also, same effects were recognized on the contraction of the ileum due to acetylcholine chloride and barium chloride. 5. The expansion of blood vessels by relaxation of smooth muscle and hypotensive effects were noted.
