Effects of Wearing Bio-active Material Coated Fabric against γ-irradiation-induced Cellular Damage in Sprague-Dawley Rats

  • Background: Ionizing radiation causes cellular damage and death through the direct damage and/or indirectly the production of ROS, which induces oxidative stress. This study was designed to evaluate the in vivo radioprotective effects of a bio-active material coated fabric (BMCF) against ${\gamma}$-irradiation-induced cellular damage in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Materials and Methods: Healthy male SD rats wore bio-active material coated (concentrations in 10% and 30%) fabric for 7 days after 3 Gy of ${\gamma}$-irradiation. Radioprotective effects were evaluated by performing various biochemical assays including spleen and thymus index, WBC count, hepatic damage marker enzymes [aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT)] in plasma, liver antioxidant enzymes, and mitochondrial activity in muscle. Results and Discussions: Exposure to ${\gamma}$-irradiation resulted in hepatocellular and immune systemic damage. Gamma-irradiation induced decreases in antioxidant enzymes. However, wearing the BMCF-30% decreased significantly AST and ALT activities in plasma. Furthermore, wearing the BMCF-30% increased SOD (superoxide dismutase) and mitochondrial activity. Conclusion: These results suggest that wearing BMCF offers effective radioprotection against ${\gamma}$-irradiation-induced cellular damage in SD rats.

  • Purpose: This study aims to report on the effect of providing customized visiting exercise, a musculoskeletal intervention method, to the elderly in the community. Methods: In this study, subjective pain was measured to evaluate pain and physical ability of the elderly, and timed up & go (TUG) test and psychological level test were performed for myofascial pain perception symptoms and gait function. Measurements were performed twice before and 4 weeks after treatment. Participants in the exercise group (n=108) performed the spine exercise, whereas those in the spine exercise group (n=108) performed the spine exercise using complex exercise program (3 times/week for 4 weeks). Results: The significant test of visual analogu scale (VAS), pain pressure threshold (PPT), TUG, psychosocial factor according to applying the exercise within groups used T-test. In the result following analysis, there was significance on VAS (p=.000), PPT (p=.000), TUG (p=.000), Psychosocial factor (Depresion; p=.000, Anxiety; p=.000) within group. Conclusion: Then, exercise has benefit on the VAS, PPT, TUG, psychosocial factor in patients with myofacial pain syndrome. So, it may suggest that exercise will be helpful of the pain, gait and psychosocial factor improvement the patients with spine pain.

산업용배지 사용에 의한 영지버섯 균주 WK-003균사체 액체 배양으로부터 생산된 세포외 다당체의 간 보호 효과 (Hepatoprotective Effect of Exo-polysaccharide Produced from Submerged Mycelial Culture of Ganoderma lucidum WK-003 by Using Industrial Grade Medium)

  • 영지버섯(Ganoderma lucidum WK-003) 균사체의 액체 배양에 의하여 세포외 생물고분자 물질의 산업적 생산을 위한 최적 조건을 검토하였다. 세포외 고분자물질 생산을 위한 산업용배지의 최적 농도는 molasses 5%와 CSL 2.5%에서 균사체 생장(12.4 g/l)과 균체외 다당체 생산(3.6g/l)이 최대를 나타났으며, 5 l 발효조 배양시에는 균사체 생장이 합성배지(8.1g/l)일때가 산업용배지(7.3 g/l)보다 높게 나타났으나, 균체외 다당체 생산은 합성배지(7.2 g/l)보다 산업용 배지(11.2 g/l)일 때가 더 높게 나타났다. 간 보호 효과는 합성배지와 최적화된 산업용 배지에서 생산된 균체외 다당체를 $CCl_4$ 독성이 유발된 rat에 경구 투여하였을 때 주요 지표를 나타내는 GPT활성은 산업용배지에서 생산된 균체외 다당체 인 경우 704IU/L에서 356IU/L로 낮추었으며, 합성배지에서 생산된 균체외 다당체는 704IU/L에서 349IU/L로 낮춘 결과를 보였다. 따라서 합성배지와 산업용 배지에서 생산된 균체외 다당체의 간 보호 작용은 거의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

근위축성 측삭 경화증 환자 치험 1례 (Clinical Observation on a Case of Patient with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)

  • 2007년 2월 20일부터 3월 12일까지 대전대학교 둔산 한방병원에 입원한 근위축성 측삭 경화증 환자 1례에 대한 임상 고찰을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 본 증례의 환자는 한의학적으로 위증으로 진단 하였으며 폐열엽초(肺熱葉焦), 기혈양허(氣血兩虛)로 변증하였다. 2. 독취양명(獨取陽明)치법을 기준으로 비위경(脾胃經)의 경혈 위주로 자침하였고 입원초기의 한약은 기혈대보(氣血大補)하는 십전대보탕(十全大補湯), 자신양혈건보탕(滋腎養血健步湯)을 사용하였으나 입원 중기부터는 객담, 인후부 불편감을 사지무력감보다 심하게 호소하여 우담리습(祐痰利濕)의 효능이 있는 보음전(補陰煎), 절제화담환(節齊化痰丸)을 처방하였다. 3. 환자는 입원 초기 객담이 줄어들면서 연하작용도 완화되었으나 입원후기에는 객담이 다시 증가하여 연하 및 호흡곤란을 호소하였다. 4. 근육의 위축 속도 및 정도를 파악하기 위하여 1주일에 1회 하지둘레를 확인하였으며 입원 첫 주보다 퇴원 주에 1cm 가량 감소하였다. 5. 우상지부 악력은 입원 초기 6kg이었으나 입원 후기에는 11kg까지 증가하였다. 6. ALS는 아직 뚜렷한 치료법이 없는 상태로 향후 적극적인 한방치료에 대한 연구가 필요할 것이라고 사료된다.

국민 손씻기 홍보사업 효과 및 관련요인 (The effects and related factors of public service announcement on hand-washing)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate derived factors associated with a public service announcement on handwashing to evaluate the effect of this announcement. Methods: In early september, 1,000 persons over 19 years old was investigated by Computer Aided Telephone Interview, at last 993 persons for analysis. Outcomes were the exposure to the public service announcements on handwashing, the comprehension of this announcements, the intention of behavioral change and the practice of handwashing. Results: In particular, the proportion of exposure is more women and highly educated. The comprehension of the announcement was no statistically significant difference. The intention of behavior change showed higher in workers and understanding of the announcements. The practice of handwashing is higher in women and lower in student/unemployed. There was no difference in practice in accordance with the exposure, the comprehension and the intention of behavioral change. Conclusions: About the comprehension of the announcements and the intention of behavioral change, the effects of the public service announcements on handwashing can be very positive. But it does not affect the actual practice of hand washing. The handwashing promotion programs will have to devise a strategy and structure, operation method considering realistic and scalable platform.

법랑기질유도체를 도포한 타이태늄 표면에서 조골세포의 증식 및 분화 (Effects of enamel matrix derivative and titanium on the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts)

  • Among objectives of periodontal therapy. the principal one is the morphological and functional reconstruction of lost periodontal supporting tissues. This includes de novo formation of connective tissue attachment and the regrowth of alveolar bone. The use of enamel matrix derivative(EMD) may be a suitable means of regeneration new periodontal attachment in the infrabony defects. Implant used to replace lost tooth but, implantitis occurred after installation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of EMD on differentiation and growth of osteoblast in titanium disc. Twentyfive millimeter diameter and 1mm thick Ti disc which was coated 25, 50, 100, 200${\mu}g$/ml of EMD(Emdogain(R)) used as experimental group, 25, 50, 100, 200ng/d of rhBMP-2 as positive control group, and no coat as negative control group. A human osteosarcoma cell line Saos-2 was cultured in Ti disc and cell proliferation and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity were measured at 1 and 6 days. PCR was performed at 2 and 8 hours. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR for mRNA expressions of various osteoblastic differentiation markers -type I collagen, ALP, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein - were performed at appropriate concentrations based upon the results of MTT and ALP assay. Cultured cell-disc complexes were prepared for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 2 hour. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney and repeated- measures 1-way analysis of variance(SPSS software version 10,SPSS. Chicago. IL). After culture, there was more osteoblast in EMD100${\mu}g$/ml than in EMD50, 200${\mu}g$/ml on day 6. There was significant difference in experimental and positive control group compared control group, as times go by(1 and 6 days). Alkaline phosphatase activity was different significantly in EMD100, 200${\mu}g$/ml and BMP100, 200${\mu}g$/ml on day 6. The results of reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) showed that expression of mRNA for ALPase, collagen type I, osteopontin. hone sialoprotein and BMP-2 was detected at 2 hour and 8 hour in EMI 200${\mu}g$/ml subgroup and BMP100ng/ml subgroup. The results of this study suggest that application of enamel matrix derivative on osteoblast attached to titanium surface facilitate the expression of bone specific protein and the differentiation and growth of osteoblast.

저온 노출된 혈관 세포 내 RhoA 단백질 활성화에 대한 십전대보탕의 억제 효과 (Mitigative Effect of Sipjeondaebo-tang on RhoA Activation in Cold-Exposed Vascular Cells)

  • Objective: To investigate the vasodilatory effect of Sipjeondaebo-tang by inhibiting RhoA activity in vascular cells during cold exposure. Methods: Human vascular endothelial cells and pericytes were pretreated with Sipjeondaebo-tang for 30 min, followed by incubation at 37 ℃ (control) or 25 ℃ (cold exposure) for 30 min. Activation of endothelin-1-mediated RhoA in pericytes was assessed by pretreating the cells with Sipjeondaebo-tang for 30 min, followed by incubation with endothelin-1 at 37 ℃ for 30 min. Western blotting was performed to measure the expression of active RhoA. Endothelin-1 and nitric oxide release from endothelial cells was examined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. The formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes was analyzed by immunocytochemistry. Results: Cold treatment activated RhoA in both pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, whereas Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment inhibited this activation. Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment also reversed the cold-mediated production of endothelin-1 and nitric oxide. Cold exposure promoted the formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes by increasing the expression of phospho-focal adhesion complex kinase, whereas Sipjeondaebo-tang treatment suppressed this response. Conclusions: These findings suggested that Sipjeondaebo-tang inhibits cold-induced RhoA activation and its related pathway components, including endothelin-1 and nitric oxide, in vascular cells. Therefore, Sipjeondaebo-tang could be beneficial for the treatment of Raynaud's phenomenon.

부유 및 서촌조생 감나무 가지의 항산화 활성 (Antioxidant Activity of Branches of Fuyu and Nishimurawase Persimmon Trees)

  • 경남 진영에서 재배되고 있는 부유와 서촌조생 품종의 감나무 가지를 각각 메탄올, 아세톤, 70% 아세톤으로 추출한 후 항산화 활성을 조사하였다. 총 페놀 함량의 경우, 부유 감나무 가지의 아세톤 추출물이 620.74 mM GAE로써 가장 높았고, 서촌 조생 감나무 가지의 아세톤 추출물은 525.91 mM GAE이었다. 항산화 활성은 DPPH 라디칼 소거능, ABTS 라디칼 소거능, 환원력으로 측정하였다. DPPH 라디칼 소거능, ABTS 라디칼 소거능, 환원력 모두 부유 감나무 가지의 아세톤 추출물에서 가장 높은 활성을 보였으며, 메탄올과 70% 아세톤 추출물 순으로 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과로 부유 감나무 가지가 서촌조생 감나무 가지에 비해 높은 항산화 활성을 가지며, 용매별로는 아세톤 추출물이 높은 항산화 활성을 가지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통해 단감 나뭇가지가 천연 항산화제로서 가능성을 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

한의학 교의사업 시범시행 후 교사들의 교의만족도에 관한 연구 - 성남시 중고등학교를 대상으로 (A Study of Teacher's Satisfaction Regarding Oriental Medical Doctor's Student Health and Wellness Program)

  • Objectives This study aims to build the baseline data for school health care program by analyzing the questionnaires about satisfaction regarding Oriental Medical Doctor's (Korean Medicine) student health and wellness program. Methods The association of Korean medicine doctor in Sung-nam city conducted Oriental Medical Doctor's student health and wellness program for 12 middle schools and 8 high schools in Sung-nam from August to December, 2015. The participating Oriental Medical Doctor visited each school for 8 times during 5 months period, and conducted health consultations, health education classes and Korean medicine treatment for the school students and school employees. Teachers and administrators from the participating schools answered the self-reported satisfaction questionnaires and the satisfaction questionnaires results were analyzed. Results 85 people responded the program satisfaction questionnaires; 69% responders were very satisfied and 28% were satisfied about the program specifically about the student's health check-ups, informatory brochures for the parents, good participation enrollment process. Responders were pleased about doctor's consultations regarding 'Advising students about their general health', 'Ways to cure sick students fast', 'Providing students with useful information about health', and 'Teaching students how to manage their health in a good shape'. 92.94% of participants agreed to the needs of the school health and wellness program. Conclusions One of the fundamental national health policies is to provide students opportunities to maintain their good health. We have developed a successful pilot program called, "Oriental Medical Doctor's student health and wellness program". We got positive feedback from the participating school teachers regarding our program. Further studies based on this study are needed to show the benefit of the program to broaden its use.

운용해양시스템을 위한 한국정선해양관측시스템 발전방향 (Improvement Plan of NFRDI Serial Oceanographic Observation (NSO) System for Operational Oceanographic System)

  • 1961년부터 2010년 현재까지 현행 국가정선해양관측이 고전적 방법에 의해 수행됨으로써 자동화된 시스템의 형태로 실시간 혹은 준실시간으로 자료를 제공하지 못하게 되는 부분에 대한 개선방향을 살펴보고, 우리나라 운용해양시스템의 실용화를 위하여 국가정선해양관측이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하였다. 선상에서 관측이 끝난 이후부터 데이터베이스에 자료가 저장되는 시점까지 행해지는 수동화된 작업을 대체하기 위해서는, 수온, 염분뿐만 아니라 다양한 자동측정센서가 부착된 CTD(Conductivity-Temperature-Depth)에 연동된 컴퓨터에서 해양관측자료를 처리하고 실시간으로 품질관리를 수행하며 통신수단에 맞게 자료를 전송할 수 있도록 하는 자동화 소프트웨어의 개발이 필요하다. 관측자료를 실시간의 형태로 전송하기 위해서는 Inmarsat 위성통신장비를 활용한 전송시스템이 타당하고, 준실시간 형태의 전송으로는 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 무선통신방식을 사용하여 연안역에 도달했을 때 수집된 자료들을 묶어서 보내는 방식이 적합하다. 실시간 품질관리 과정을 포함시켜 관측시 발생할 수 있는 여러 가지 원인의 오류를 미연에 방지할 수 있을 것이다.
