  • Textured Ce$O_{2}$ buffers for YBCO coated conductors were deposited on biaxially textured Ni substrate by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition The texture of deposited Ce$O_{2}$ films was varied with deposition temperature(T) and oxygen partial pressure($Po_{2}$). ($\ell$ 00) textured Ce$O_{2}$ films were deposited at T= 500~$520^{\circ}C$, $Po_{2}$= 0.90~3.33 Torr. The growth rate of the Ce$O_{2}$ films was 150~200 nm/min at T= $520^{\circ}C$ and $Po_{2}$= 2.30 Torr, which was much faster than that prepated by other physical deposition method.

  • This paper reports a newly developed sol-gel process to synthesize dense YBCO thick films with BaTiO$_3$additives using electrophoretic deposition and metal alkoxide sol/particle suspension, which we successfully produce dense $YBCO+BaTiO_3$ ceramics at a rather low temperature, compared with the sintering temperature used in conventional methods. The thick films of HTS were prepared by electrophoretic deposition, using pre-sintered powder with barium titanate addition in the form of $BaTi(OR)_6$ solution in suspension for electrophoresis. The conditions for applied voltage and deposition times for electrophoretic deposition of HTS thick films were studied in detail.

  • High-temperature superconductor films of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$$O_{7-x}$ were fabricated by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) from alcohol-based suspension. Maximum stability is observed for the suspension containing iso-alcohol as the dispersion medium. However, for the formation of a dense and adherent coating of YBCO on a silver substrate by EPD, the best results were obtained in mix PrOH and BuOH suspension. The superconducting critical current density (J$_{c}$) was 1200 A/cm$^2$ for a films deposited in 30% iso-PrOH and 70 % iso-BuOH suspension.ion.

  • In electrophoresis, it is studied to get best condition of suspension media with alcoholic system for superconducting film. High-temperature superconductor films of $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ were fabricated by electrophoretic deposition(EPD) from alcohol-based suspension. Maximum stability is observed for the suspension containing iso-alcohol as dispersion medium.   • NiO buffer layers for YBCO coated conductors were deposited on hi-axially textured Ni substrates by MOCVD(metal organic chemical vapor deposition) method, using single solution source. To establish the processing condition, oxygen partial pressure and deposition temperature were changed. The surface orientation and degree of texture were estimated by X-ray diffraction, X-ray pole figure and atomic force microscopy. The FWHMs of in-plane and out-of-plane of the NiO films were about 10$^{\circ}$. The surface roughness was a function of deposition temperature. The AFM surface roughness of NiO films is in the range of 3∼10 nm, when NiO films was grown at 450∼530$^{\circ}C$.

  • The fabrication of high quality superconducting thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) has been reported to find optimized processing conditions and to make the millimeter-wave devices. High temperature superconducting (HTS) YBCO films were prepared on MgO (10${\times}$10${\times}$0.5mm) substrates by the PLD. The 3 pole bandpass filter with the center frequency of 22 GHz for satellite communication was designed consisting of hairpin coupled-lines to reduce the configuration in size. YBCO films are c-axis oriented and show superconductive transition temperatures of 88∼89 K with the transition widths < 0.5 K. The insertion loss of passband at 70 K was about 5 dB. The measured frequency response of superconducting filter will be compared with the simulation result.

  • YBa2Cu3Ox-Ag(YBCO-Ag) thick films were fabricated on the zirconia substrate by a screen printing method. The starting powder was a mixture of YBCO, prepared by a coprecipitation in oxalic acid, and Ag2O. The influence of heat treatment conditions on properties of thick films was investigated. It was observed that Jc of thick films was directly proportional to the orientation factor of thick films and the optimimum preparation condition was the heat treatment of thick films at 100$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 min in O2. The improvement of Jc by the addition of Ag was considered as a result of the suppression of microcracks in the films.

  • [ $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_y$ ] superconducting films were prepared on $LaAlO_3$(100) single crystal substrate by spray pyrolysis method. The precursor solution was prepared by dissolving nitrate powders in de-ionized water. Both of ultrasonic and concentric nebulizers were used in order to generate fine droplets of precursor solution. C-axis oriented films were obtained at deposition temperature of $750\~850^{\circ}C$ and working pressure of 100 Torr and 500 Torr. In case of ultrasonic nebulizer, films showed rough and porous surface morphology due to formation of enormous droplets, while smooth and dense films were obtained for concentric nebulizer. A transport $J_c$ value of $0.43\;MA/cm^2$ at 77 K and self field was achieved on $LaAlO_3$(100) single crystal substrate.
