표면처리방법이 지르코니아와 레진시멘트 간의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Surface Treatment on the Shear Bond Strength of Zirconia Ceramics to Resin Cemen)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 각각 다른 표면처리를 한 지르코니아를 레진시멘트로 접착한 후 전단결합강도를 평가, 비교하는 것이다. 디스크 모양의 산화 지르코늄(3-TZP, Kyoritsu, Tokyo, Japan) 시편 120 개를 다음과 같이 표면처리 하였다. (1)110 ${\mu}m$ 산화 알루미나 분사 처리 (2)Silica coating(RocatecTM, 3M ESPE) (3)처리하지 않음 시편을 한 군당 10 개씩 총 6 개군으로 나누어 두 개의 지르코니아 시편을 자가 접착형 레진 시멘트(RelyX U-200, 3M ESPE)로 합착하였다. (1)처리하지 않음/처리하지 않음 (2)처리하지 않음/110 ${\mu}m$ 산화 알루미나 분사처리 (3)처리하지 않음/Silica coating (4)110 ${\mu}m$ 산화 알루미나 분사 처리/110 ${\mu}m$ 산화 알루미나 분사 처리 (5)110 ${\mu}m$ 산화 알루미나 분사 처리/Silica coating (6)Silica coating/Silica coating. 각 군의 전단결합강도를 만능시험기로 측정하였다. 표면처리에 따른 결합강도의 차이를 살펴보기 위해 일원변량분석(One-way ANOVA)을 이용하고 사후 분석으로 Tukey HSD test를 실시하였다. Silica coating을 한 두 개의 시편을 접착한 군이 가장 높은 결합 강도를 보였다(P<0.05). 표면 처리하지 않은 시편을 접착한 군과 두 개의 시편 모두 알루미나 분사 처리한 시편을 접착한 군은 서로 간에 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으며, 그 외의 군에 비해서는 유의하게 낮았다(P<0.05). 본 연구의 결과에 따르면 Silica coating은 자가중합형 레진시멘트를 이용하여 접착한 두 지르코니아 간의 결합을 증진시키는데 효과적이었다.

  • Ceramic femoral heads in the total hip replacement have been developed to reduce the polyethylene liner wear, Alumina and zirconia (3Y-TZP) having the excellent tribological properties are coupled against acetabular cups of polyethylene and are used in clinical application worldwide. However, alumina has a risk of catastrophic failure, and zirconia has the low temperature degradation in spite of enhanced fracture toughness. Recently, novel zirconia/alumina composite is very attractive due to the low temperature degradation (LTD)-free character and high fracture toughness. In the present study, we focus on the wear of ceramic on ceramic, which are able to be used as femoral heads and acetabular cups. Therefore, LTD-free zirconia/alumina composites with three compositions are made in a form of disk and cylinder, and the wear of the composites is performed on pin-on-disk type wear tester. The wear is conducted with or without lubricant. All the composites fabricated with the different composition show the good wear resistance.

지르코니아 세라믹의 열수 상 안정성 (Hydrothermal Stability of Zirconia Ceramics)

  • 3Y-TZP에 희토류 산화물($CeO_2,\;Tb_2O_3$)을 0.5% 이하로 첨가시킨 지르코니아 단결정을 skull melting법으로 제조하여 오토클레이브 하에서 열수 상 안정성을 조사하였다. 극점도 측정결과, skull melting 법으로 제조한 $CeO_2$$Tb_2O_3$가 첨가된 시편들은 단결정이었으며 150∼250$^{\circ}C$에서 5시간 수증기 분위기 하에서 열처리한 후에도 정방정 상이 유지되는 우수한 열수 상 안정성이 관찰되었다.

  • The sliding wear behaviors of three different compositions of novel low temperature degradation-free zirconia/alumina (LTD-free Z/A) composites were examined in a ceramic-ceramic contact pair. The wear tests were performed by using a pin-on-disk type wear tester in a linear reciprocal sliding motion with a line contact in both dry and bovine serum lubricated conditions at room temperature. From the results of dry sliding wear tests, Z/A#1((5.3Y, 4.6Nb)-TZP/80 $vol\%Al_2O_3$) showed the best wear resistance among three kinds of LTD-free Z/A composites. For the bovine serum lubricated sliding wear tests, wear was too little to be measured for all kinds of Z/A composites. These novel LTD-free Z/A composites having excellent wear resistance demonstrated a potential as the alternative materials for the ceramic-ceramic contact pairs of femoral head and acetabular liner in total hip replacement.

Comparison of the translucency of shaded zirconia all-ceramic systems

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the translucency of shaded zirconia allceramic systems. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Translucency of 3 different zirconia all-ceramic systems colored by different techniques was compared with a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic (IPS e.max Press). Square-shaped specimens with 0.5 mm thickness were fabricated from In-Ceram YZ, ICE Zirkon and Katana systems in A1, A2 and A3.5 shades according to Vitapan Classical shade tab (n=11). Specimens were then veneered and glazed with corresponding veneer ceramic recommended by each zirconia system manufacturer and the total thickness was set to 1.5 mm. Translucency measurements were performed with VITA Easyshade Compact spectrophotometer after each stage and translucency parameter was calculated. Data were statistically analyzed with repeated measures ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison test. RESULTS. The control group was significantly more translucent than the zirconia systems (P<.05). ICE Zirkon cores showed the least translucency; neither In-Ceram YZ nor Katana systems were superior to each other in terms of translucency. Translucency of all specimens was decreased after veneering, and the translucency rankings were changed. CONCLUSION. Coloring technique did not have a significant effect on translucency of zirconia cores. Although zirconia systems were less translucent than lithium disilicate glass ceramic, they had partial translucency and there were translucency differences among the zirconia systems. Chroma affected the translucency of precolored zirconia cores.

However, alumina has a risk of catastrophic failure, and zirconia has the low temperature degradation in spite of enhanced fracture toughness. Recently, novel zirconia/alumina composite having low temperature degradation-free character and high fracture tough . was developed and it leads the lower wear 3f polyethylene than alumina and zirconia. In the present study, in order to optimise the microstructure of low temperature degradation (LTD)-free zirconia/alumina composite for the best wear resistance of polyethylene, various compositions of (LTD)-free zirconia/alumina composites were fabricated, and the sliding wear of UHMWPE against these novel composites were examined and compared with that against alumina and zirconia ceramics used for total hip joint heads.

치과용 CAD/CAM 전용 세라믹기반 하이브리드 레진 수복물의 변연 적합 연구 (A study on marginal fit of the ceramic-based hybrid resin restoration for dental CAD/CAM systems)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to assess and compare the marginal fit of ceramic-based hybrid resin restoration (HYB) and zirconia restoration (ZIR) for dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing systems. Methods: A stainless steel master model was produced. The impression was first made with silicone, and then stone working models were produced. A total of twenty restorations were fabricated with two different materials: ZIR and HYB. The silicone film thickness of the marginal gap was measured using a digital microscope; digital photos were taken at a magnification of ×160, and then analyzed using a measurement software. The values of the result were evaluated with the independent-sample t-test (α=0.05). All statistical analyses were performed with a statistical software. Results: The mean values for the marginal gap was 37.14±2.96 ㎛ for HYB, compared with 40.37±5.26 ㎛ for ZIR. No significant difference was found between ZIR and HYB (p=0.107). Conclusion: As a result, the marginal fit of the restoration fabricated using the hybrid resin was better than that of the restoration fabricated using zirconia. Also, the marginal fit of all groups was below the clinical acceptable range of 120 ㎛. Thus, HYB for dental CAD/CAM system in this study is expected to be suitable for clinical use in dentistry.

Dimethyldioxirane의 분자구조와 Vibrational Frequencies에 대한 양자역학적 고찰 (Quantum Mechanical Investigation for the Structure and Vibrational Frequencies of Dimethyldioxirane)

  • Dimethyldioxirane$[(CH_3)_2CO_2]$의 분자구조, vibrational frequencies 그리고 infrared(IR) 스펙트럼의 세기(intensity)등에 대한 이론적 연구를 high level ab initio 양자역학적 방법(CISD,CCSD, CCDS(T))을 사용하여 수행하였다. 분자구조의 경우 C-O와 O-O에 대한 결합길이는 parent dixoirane$(CH_2O_2)$과 유사한 결과를 보여주었으며, electron correlation effect의 영향이 C-C나 C-H결합길이 보다 더 크게 작용하였다. 사용된 basis sets(DZ,DZP, TZP, 그리고 TZ2P)에 대해서는 polarization function의 역할이 매우 중요한 것으로 나타났으며 triple zeta(TZ)에 의한 효과는 상대적으로 나타났다. 한편 계산된 harmonic vibrational frequency들을 실험결과 및 다른 이론 계산결과와 비교, 분석하였으며 IR intencity에 근거하여 각 vibrational mode를 assign하였다.

치과 임플란트용 지르코니아-알루미나 복합체의 생 가공 및 경 가공 특성 (Green and Hard Machining Characteristics of Zirconia-alumina Composites for Dental Implant)

  • The green and hard machining characteristics of dental ceramics are of great interest to dental industry. The green bodies of TZP/$Al_2O_3$ composites were prepared by the cold isostatic pressing, and machined on the CNC lathe using PCD (polycrystalline diamond) insert under various machining conditions. With increasing nose radius of PCD insert, surface roughness initially increased due to increased cutting resistance, but decreased by the onset of sliding fracture. The lowest surface roughness was obtained at spindle speed of 1,300 rpm and lowest feed rate. Hard bodies were prepared by pressureless sintering the machined green bodies at several temperatures. The grinding test for sintered hard body was conducted using electroplated diamond bur with different grit sizes. During grinding, grain pull out in the composite was occurred due to thermal expansion mismatch between the alumina and zirconia. The strength of the composite decreased with alumina contents, due to increased surface roughness and high monoclinic phase transformed during grinding process. The final polished samples represented high strength by the elimination of a phase transformation layer.

Geometrical Characteristics and Atomic Charge Variations of Pd(II) Complexes [Pd(L)Cl2] with an Axial (Pd·O) Interaction

  • Geometrical structures of [Pd(L)$Cl_2$] with oxathia macrocycles have been calculated using ab initio secondorder Moller-Plesset (MP2) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods with triple zeta plus polarization (TZP) basis set level. In optimized Pd(L)$Cl_2$ complexes, Pd(II) locates at the center surrounded by a square planar array of two sulfurs on an oxathia macrocycle and two chlorides. The endo-Pd(II) complexes with an axial (Pd${\cdots}$O) interaction are more stable than the exo-Pd(II) complexes without the interaction. In the endo-Pd(II) complexes, the atomic charge of the oxygen atom moves to Pd(II) via the axial ($Pd{\cdots}$O) interaction and then, the charge transfer from Pd(II) to the S-atoms occurs stepwise via ${\pi}$-acceptors of the empty d-orbitals.
