  • Actaea semblatae (Guinot, 1976) has been roared in the laboratory, from hatching to the first young crab stage at $25^{\circ}C$. The two zoeal stages are described and illustrated in detail. The first zoea of A. semblatae in the present study slightly differs from that described by Terada (1987) on the respect of the setal presence on the carapace, the antennule, the coxa of the first maxilliped and the first abdominal somite. Within the family Xanthidae, the zoea of A. semblatae can be clearly distingushed from the other known zoeas by having a seta as an antennal exopod or a vestigial exopod with a sets. A provisional key is provided to aid the identification of the xanthid zoeas in Korea.

  • Many members of xanthid crabs have the black coloured fingers and are found easily in the intertidal or subtidal zone. Three xanthids, $Danielea$ $noelensis$ (Ward, 1934), $Etisus$ $anaglyptus$ H. Milne Edwards, 1834, and $Gaillardiellus$ $rueppelli$ (Krauss, 1843), are newly reported from Korean waters as a result of continuous taxonomic studies on crabs. Of these, the present specimen of $D.$ $noelensis$ has rather projecting angle on the antero-external border of the merus of the third maxilliped differed from that of the original description. The genus $Danielea$ Ng and Clark, 2003 and the genus $Etisus$ H. Milne Edwards, 1834 are also reported first time from Korean fauna. Their descriptions are provided with illustrations. Korean Xanthoidea now consists of 28 species belonging to 24 genera.

  • The first zoeal stage of Macromedaeus orientalis (Takeda et Miyake, 1969) is described and illustrated. Its morphological characteristics are compared with those of other known species of the subfamily Xanthinae. The first zoeas of M. orientalis and M. distinguendus are similar, but they can be distinguished from each other by the characteristic of antenna. The former has a smooth antenna with a rounded tip, while the latter has a serrated antenna with a spinous tip.

  • Xanthid crabs, decapod crustacean, with the black coloured fingers, are easily found under rocks or stones in the intertidal or subtidal zones. Two xanthids, Etisus laevimanus Randall, 1840 and Paraxanthias elegans (Stimpson, 1858), were newly reported in Korean waters as part of continuous taxonomic studies on crabs. The genus Paraxanthias Odhner, 1925 was also reported for the first time in Korea. Of these, the examined specimen of P. elegans showed eight feathery hairs on the subdistal tip of the first gonopod, which differs from the description of Dai and Yang at 1991. Here, the descriptions and illustrations of these species are provided. Korean Xanthoidea currently consists of 30 species belonging to 25 genera.
