Web Service Proxy Architecture using WS-Eventing for Reducing SOAP Traffic

  • Web Services offer many benefits over other types of middleware in distributed computing. However, usage of Web Services results in large network bandwidth since Web Services use XML-based protocol which is heavier than binary protocols. Even though there have been many researches to minimize the network traffic and bandwidth usages of Web Services messages, none of them are solving problem clearly yet. In this paper, we propose a transparent proxy with cache to avoid transfer of repeated SOAP data, sent by Web Service to an application. To maintain the cache consistency, we introduce publish/subscribe paradigm using WS-Eventing between the proxy and Web Service. The implemented system based on our proposed architecture will not compromise the standards of Web Service. The evaluation of our system shows that caching SOAP messages not only reduces the network traffic but also decreases the request delays.

  • Information producing and sharing methods are modified into digital forms. All kinds of documents are also converted into electronic forms so they become very useful and besides, they are increasing in quantity. Thus effective contents management system is requisite. Until now CMS(Contents Management System) has problems including composite contents management, processing delay and deterioration of contents because of deficiency of consistent contents storing methods and policies. In this paper an ECM(Efficient Contents Management) system is proposed for efficient processing of multimedia data and ubiquitous KM(Knowledge Management).

  • 최근 컴퓨터 성능과 네트워크 속도의 발전은 다양한 형태의 데이터를 유선 혹은 무선 환경상에서 주고 받고 처리할 수 있게 해주고 있다. 또한 일차원적인 텍스트, 이미지, 음성, 동영상뿐만 아니라 다차원 형태의 공간 데이터도 다양한 형태의 서비스로 제공되고 있다. 하지만 공간 데이터에 대한 연구는 공간 데이터 표준, 서비스, 성능적인 측면에 대한 연구만 진행이 되었을 뿐 보안적인 측면에 대한 연구는 미비한 상태이다. 이에 XML 의 보안 기법을 공간 데이터에 적용하여 공간 데이터 자체에 대한 보안 레벨과 암호화를 적용하여 공간 데이터 전송을 위한 보안구조를 제시하고자 한다.

  • 최근 모바일 기술의 발달로 GIS분야에서도 모바일 기술을 이용한 다양한 서비스가 이루어지고 있다. 수치데이터나 이미지데이터를 기반으로 하는 모바일GIS는 최근에 XML기반의 표준화 된 GML데이터의 사용을 연구 하고 있다. 하지만 모바일 환경에서의 데이터 처리는 유선환경에서 보다 좀더 많은 데이터 처리비용을 요구 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 GIS에서 표준화 된 GML을 사용 할 때 무선영역에서의 변환을 통해 좀더 경제적인 무선데이터 처리를 제안하고자 한다. 아울러 제안하는 데이터의 효율성의 평가하기 위해 데이터의 양을 측정하였다.

From Tombstones to Corpora: TSML for Research on Language, Culture, Identity and Gender Differences

  • Tombstone inscriptions represent a linguistic genre which yields insights in culture and language. Creating corpora from tombstones is thus a complementary approach for the study of languages and cultures. For the annotation of tombstone corpora, we propose TSML, the Tombstone-Markup-Language, developed during the massive annotation of Taiwanese tombstones and a number of tombstones from China, Indonesia and Europe. We discuss our conceptual framework in the annotation of tombstones and derive successively and present preliminary research data to show how the usefulness of the annotations. Finally, we will encourage researchers to participate in the specification of TSML to obtain soon an annotation language for annotations across cultures and languages.

  • 센서 네트워크들은 지역적 혹은 종류별로 다양한 센서를 사용하여 네트워크를 형성한다. 기존의 센서 네트워크의 개발은 센싱 데이터에 대한 단일화된 형식으로 표현하지 않기 때문에 그 단위나 표현 방식에 따라서 응용 프로그램이 처리하는데 어려움이 있다. 또한, 다른 센서 네트워크와 데이터 공유도 용이하지 못하다. 이에 센서 노드로부터 수집된 다양한 원 데이터를 원활하게 데이터 교환을 할 수 있는 미들웨어 개발이 필요하다. 이에 우리는 센서 노드로부터 측정한 데이터 및 모든 처리를 기술할 수 있는 표현을 XML로 작성하고, 웹을 통해 센서 데이터를 활용할 수 있는 센서 네트워크 미들웨어를 제안한다.

Text Mining and Sentiment Analysis for Predicting Box Office Success

  • After emerging online communications, text mining and sentiment analysis has been frequently applied into analyzing electronic word-of-mouth. This study aims to develop a domain-specific lexicon of sentiment analysis to predict box office success in Korea film market and validate the feasibility of the lexicon. Natural language processing, a machine learning algorithm, and a lexicon-based sentiment classification method are employed. To create a movie domain sentiment lexicon, 233,631 reviews of 147 movies with popularity ratings is collected by a XML crawling package in R program. We accomplished 81.69% accuracy in sentiment classification by the Korean sentiment dictionary including 706 negative words and 617 positive words. The result showed a stronger positive relationship with box office success and consumers' sentiment as well as a significant positive effect in the linear regression for the predicting model. In addition, it reveals emotion in the user-generated content can be a more accurate clue to predict business success.

  • Web Services are a distributed component technology based on XML and Web. The Web Services are used to integrate heterogeneous systems under the distributed environment. In this study, the concept of Web Services for CAD (WSC) is introduced, which aims at interoperation with CAD systems using the Web Services. This paper introduces one part of the WSC which enables remote users or applications to retrieve the geometries and the design history of CAD models using the Web Services. This paper proposes an architecture of the WSC, the data model and the interfaces for retrieving CAD model information, and the way to apply the WSC to commercial CAD systems.

  • Since 1996, the document exchange method by EDI has been introduced in port and logistics industries in Korea to enhance the declaration activities to the Pusan Port Authority and Customs. In spite of these efforts, users such as shipping companies, shipping agents, and freight forwarders have complained the inconvenience of using EDI systems. The major reasons can be summarized as follows: repetitional EDI transfer, too much transfer time, inconvenient EDI software, and problems on message receiving confirmation. Furthermore, EDI has been used only for transmitting messages. To solve these problems, this study has adopted the integration system by applying the concept of SCM to logistics system by XML/EDl. In the view of SCM, the existing EDI has some problems because its role is only to transmit the messages. This paper is to suggest how current EDI systems in Port and logistics sector has to be chanced by Introducing SCM. The integration system gives us such advantages as accuracy of cargo data, integration of processes among firms, and keeping the trace of cargo.
