The crystal structure of ($Tl_{71}$-Y ($Tl_{71}Si_{121}Al_{71}O_{384}$), ${\alpha}=24.706(3){\AA}$, dehydrated at 653 K and $8{\times}10^{-6}$ torr, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group $Fd\bar{3}m$ at 294(1) K. The structure was refined using all intensities to the final error indices (using only the 302 reflection for which $F_{\circ}$ > $4{\sigma}(F_0)$) $R_1=0.0602$ (based on F) and $R_w=0.1744$ (based on $F_2$). The 71 $Tl^+$ ions per unit cell are found at four crystallographically distinct positions. Site I' position in the sodalite cavity opposite D6Rs are each occupied by eighteen $Tl^+$ ions per unit cell; these $Tl^+$ ions are recessed ca. $1.45{\AA}$ into the sodalite cavity from their O(3) plane (Tl-O=2.701(15), $3.163(16){\AA}$ and O-Tl-O=$92.1(4)^{\circ}$). The 23 $T1^+$ ions fill site II in the supercage; these $T1^+$ ions are recessed ca. $1.58{\AA}$ into the supercage from their O(2) plane (Tl-O = 2.850(16), $3.156(16){\AA}$ and O-T1-O = $85.1(5)^{\circ}$). The 19 $Tl^+$ ions lie at site III' in the supercage near a triple 4-ring (Tl-O = 3.10(7), $3.39(5){\AA}$ and O-Tl-O = 47.8(9), $95.3(18)^{\circ}$) and the remaining II ions occupy another site III' near a triple 4-ring in the supercage (Tl-O = 2.81(4), $2.71(4){\AA}$ and O-Tl-O = $57.3(8)^{\circ}$).
Polyurethanes containing no mesogenic unit were prepared by polyaddition reaction of homo- and copolyurethanes based on para-type 1,4-phenylene diisocyanate (1,4-PDI), 2,6-bis($\omega$-hydroxypentoxy)naphthalene (BHN5) with 1,4-bis($\omega$-hydroxypentoxy)benzene (BHB5). All copolyurethanes showed monotropic liquid crystallinity, when measurements were performed under shearing. For example, a polyurethane Poly(50/50, mol%) with $[\eta]$=0.32 dL/g exhibited liquid crystallinity in the temperature range from $223^{\circ}C$ to $211^{\circ}C$ in the cooling stage. In contrast, two homopolyurethanes exhibited no explicit mesomorphic behavior, which was observed by DSC (Differental Scanning calorimeter) and measurement and polarized microscopic observation. The mesomorphic behavior of synthesized polyurethane was identified and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscope and X-ray.
Galectins are generally believed to be potential candidates for use in the development of novel antiinflammatory agents or as selective modulators of the immune response. In particular, galectin-9 exhibits some of the extracellular functions, including cell aggregation, adhesion, chemoattraction, activation, and apoptosis. Tl-galectin (Tl-gal, galectin-9 homologue gene) was isolated from an adult worm of the Toxascaris leonina. The full-length Tl-gal gene, which was incorporated into pET-28a, was overexpressed in E. coli and purified by nickel affinity and gel filtration chromatographies. The purified Tl-gal was crystallized using the hangingdrop vapor-diffusion method. The crystal belonged to the tetragonal space group $P4_1$, with unit-cell parameters of a = b = $75.7\AA$ and c = $248.4\AA$. The crystals were obtained at $20^{\circ}C$ and diffracted to a resolution of $3.0\AA$. The asymmetric unit contained four molecules of Tl-gal, which gave a crystal volume per protein mass (Vm) of $2.8\AA^3Da^{-1}$ and a solvent content of 54.1%.

Paranasal sinusitis, especially chronic is one of the most common diseases in the field of otolaryngology. It is similar to Bee Yeun(鼻淵) in oriental medicine. Most cases of sinusitis are due to anatomical abnormalities within ostiomeatal unit or disturbed mucocilliary flow. The ostiomeatal unit is the first place of contact with bacteria and allergens during aspiration, and it can be obstructed easily by minute mucosal swelling due to anatomical narrowness. Therefore the treatment of paranasal sinusitis is not easy and often leads to recurrences in spite of long term treatment or surgical therapy. We studied 83 patients who had visited our hospital with complaints of nasal symptoms; they had been diagnosed as having paranasal sinusitis through an endoscopy or CT scan in another hospital and were diagnosed as the paranasal sinusitis through a PNS series. The results were as follows: 1. Age and sex distribution: The most common occurence was found between 6-10 and 1-5 years old. The Males Were 52($62.7\%$) and Females were 31($37.3\%$). 2. By residence 58 cases lived in apts: 25 lived in houses. 3. The longest duration of disease varied from a lower of 13 to a higher of 36 months in 22 cases and from 7 to 12 months in 21 cases. 4. The most common complication & past history with otolaryngologic or allergic disease were adenoid or tonsil hypertrophy & tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (21 cases). In decreasing order the others were atopic dematitis, otitis media with effusion and allergic rhinitis. 5. Distribution of paranasal sinus disease was most common in both maxillary sinuses in 52 cases. 12 cases showed a normal PNS X-ray series but these had been diagnosed as paranasal sinusitis with an endoscopy or CT scan in another hospital. 6. Common sinusitis - related symptoms were from highest incidence to lowest nasal obstruction, postnasal drip rhinorrhea, frontal headache, cough with sputum. 7. The most administered of prescription was Gamibangpoongtongsungsan and Sunbangpaedoksan extract. 8. In 26 cases the subjects showed significant improvement symptoms in PNS X-ray series : In 21 case showed partial improvement symptoms.

In this paper, we presents a new cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT) system for the reconstruction of 3 dimensional dynamic images. The system using cone beam has less the exposure of radioactivity than fan beam, relatively. In the system, the reconstruction 3-D image is reconstructed with the radiation angle of X-ray in the image processing unit and transmitted to the monitor. And in the image processing unit, the Three Pass Shear Matrices, a kind of Rotation-based method, is applied to reconstruct 3D image because it has less transcendental functions than the one-pass shear matrix to decrease a time of calculations for the reconstruction 3-D image in the processor. The new system is able to get 3~5 3-D images a second, reconstruct the 3-D dynamic images in real time. And we showed the Rotation-based method was good rather than existing reconstruction technique for 3D images, also found weakness and a solution for it.
Two crystal structures of iodine sorption complexes of dehydrated partially Co(Ⅱ )-exchanged zeolite A, $Co_{3.5}Na_5-A{\cdot}xI_2$, x = 2.5 and 5.0, have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Both structures were solved and refined in cubic space group, Pm3m at $21(1)^{\circ}C$. The structures of $Co_{3.5}Na_5-A{\cdot}2.5I_2$(a = 12.173(1) ${\AA}$) and $Co_{3.5}Na_5-A{\cdot}5.0I_2$(a = 12.130(1) ${\AA}$) were refined to the final error indices, $R_1$ = 0.081 and $R_2$ = 0.077 with 261 reflections and $R_1$ = 0.103 and $R_2$ = 0.112 with 225 reflections, respectively, for which I>3${\sigma}$(I). In both structures, 3.5 $Co^{2+}$ ions and 4.5 $Na^+$ ions per unit cell lie at two crystallographically different 6-ring positions. 0.5 $Na^+$ ion lines in an 8-oxygen ring plane. Dehydrated $Co_{3.5}Na_5$-A sorbs 2.5 iodine molecules per unit cell at $70^{\circ}C$ (vapor pressure of $I_2$ is ca. 8.3 torr) within 30 minutes and 5 iodine molecules per unit cell at $80^{\circ}C$ (vapor pressure of $I_2$ is ca. 14.3 torr) within 24 hours. Each iodine molecule makes a close approach, along its axis to framework oxygen atom with I-I-O = $175^{\circ}$.
Two single crystals of fully dehydrated partially $Li^+$-exchanged zeolite X were prepared by the exchange of Na-X, $Na_{92}Si_{100}Al_{92}O_{384}$ (Si/Al = 1.09), with $Li^+$ using aqueous 0.1 M $LiNO_3$ at 293 (crystal 1) and 333 K(crystal 2), followed by vacuum dehydration at 623 K and $1{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr for 2 days. Their structures were determined by single-crystal synchrotron X-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group $Fd{\overline{3}}$ at 100(1) K. Their structures were refined using all intensities to the final error indices (using the 1281 and 883 reflections for which ($F_o$ > $4{\sigma}(F_o)$) $R_1/R_2$ = 0.075/0.244 and 0.074/0.223 for crystals 1 and 2, respectively. Their compositions are seen to be ${\mid}Li_{86}Na_6{\mid}[Si_{100}Al_{92}O_{384}]$-FAU and ${\mid}Li_{87}Na_5{\mid}[Si_{100}Al_{92}O_{384}]$-FAU, respectively. In crystal 1, 17 $Li^+$ ions per unit cell are at site I', 15 another site I', 30 at site II, and the remaining 16 at site III; 2 $Na^+$ ions are at site II and the remaining 4 at site III'. In crystal 2, 32 and 30 $Li^+$ ions per unit cell fill sites I' and II, respectively, and the remaining 25 at site III'; 2 and 3 $Na^+$ ions are found at sites II and III', respectively. The extent of $Li^+$ exchange increases slightly with increasing ion exchange temperature from 93% to 95%.
This study aimed to fundamentally understand changes of cell parameters of cation-exchanged mordenites using high resolution X-ray powder diffraction for studies that immobilization of various heavy metal cation using synthesis mordenite (Na6.6Al6.6Si41.4O96·20.4H2O, Na-MOR). As a results of measurement by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), it was confirmed that 19.4, 20.4 water molecules per unit cell were present in monovalent-cation substituted MOR (Cs-MOR, Na-MOR), and 21, 23.1, 23.2 water molecules per unit cell were present in divalent-cation substituted MOR (Pb-MOR, Sr-MOR, Cd-MOR). The space group of all the samples were identified as Cmcm belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. Compared to Na-MOR, starting material, relative peak intensity of (110) and (200) is significantly changed after cation substitution whereas peak position is almost similar. Also, (220) peak that was not found in Na-MOR was clearly observed in Pb-, Cd- and Sr-exchanged MOR. Thus, it was estimated that changes of atomic distribution usually occurred on ab-plane while changes of cell parameters were little. Detailed changes in the cell parameters of cation-exchanged mordenites were derived from whole profile fitting method using the GSAS suite program. Changes in the axial lengths and unit cell volume of cation substitution showed different relationship depending on ionic radius and charge number. In case of monovalent-cation substituted MOR, the length of a-axis increases whereas the length of b- and c-axis decrease by absorbed cation radius. In the case of divalent-cation exchanged MOR, the length of a-axis usually decreases while the length of b- and c-axis increases by cation radius. It was confirmed that unit cell volume of monovalent and divalent cation substituted MORs had an independent tendency by cation radius.

The substitution of vanadium atoms into the zeolite framework structure could be applied to the large pore zeolites by means of modified treatments as well as direct hydrothermal synthesis. The incorporation of V into the zeolite framework was demonstrated by instrumental analysis techniques. The result of X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the unit cell parameters increased after incorporation of vanadium into the zeolitic lattice, indicating that the replacement of Si by the larger V atoms could cause a slight expansion in the unit cell. In addition, the results of FTIR, Uv-Vis and Si-MAS-NMR spectra strongly support the incorporation of V into the zeolite framework. Acid leaching of aluminum in zeolites can provide a vacant position in the lattice for the insertion of vansdium by secondary hydrothermal treatment.
Single crystals of deoxy-thymidine diphosphate-D-gluxose-4,6-dehydratase(abbreviated as dTDP-D-glucose dehydratase) from Escherichia coli Strain BL21 clone which harbors the gene of dTDP-D-glucose dehydratase in Salmonella typhimurium LT2 have been grown with and whithout substrates by sitting drop vapor diffusion at room temperature. The precipitating agent was 1.6 to 2.0 M Na, K phosphate buffer(pH 8.0). The crystals diffract to at least 2.5Å and belong to the hexagonal space group P61 with cell dimensions a=b=168.54Å, c=81.08Å. The asymmetric unit contains one dimer with a crystal volume per protein mass(VM) of 2.4Å3/Da and solvent content (Vsol) of 64% by volume.
