Leveraging the Smart device for waterworks manhole management (상수도맨홀 관리를 위한 스마트 관리장치의 활용)

  • The waterworks company is in charge of managing water facilities buried underground, and the management has been centered on manholes. However, since there is no standard management manual, it has been impossible to introduce and operate a systemized managing tool by water service providers and managers, and manhole management has been carried out by individual data recording personnel for each water service provider. When the management is carried out individually, the data to be shared by other waterworks managers tend to be privatized, and consequently, it may become a big obstacle to proceed with many civil works such as emergency leak repair, road excavation, replacement of old buildings. This report introduces RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system which is based on the magnetic field capable of IOT. It also describes the necessity of leveraging the system for smart managing of pipe management record that has been done by hand writing. The RFID system includes RFID marker, data reader, portable computer operating program, and data base server operating program. In this system, the data is managed with a single communication device, and it would be possible to share the information on the underground facilities and water treatment facilities. This RFID technology is expected to provide water service providers with opportunities to develop more scientific and modernized underground facilities information systems.

PDMS Stamp Fabrication for Photonic Crystal Waveguides (광자결정 도파로 성형용 PDMS 스탬프 제작)

  • Recently nano imprint lithography to fabricate photonic crystal on polymer is preferred because of its simplicity and short process time and ease of precise manufacturing. But, the technique requires the precise mold as an imprinting tool for good replication. These molds are made of the silicon, nickel and quartz. But this is not desirable due to complex fabrication process, high cost. So, we describe a simple, precise and low cost method of fabricating PDMS stamp to make the photonic crystals. In order to fabricate the PDMS mold, we make the original pattern with designed hole array by finding the optimal electron beam writing condition. And then, we have tried to fabricate PDMS mold by the replica molding with ultrasonic vibration and pressure system. We have used the cleaning process to solve the detaching problem on the interface. Using these methods, we acquired the PDMS mold for photonic crystals with characteristics of a good replication. And the accuracy of replication shows below 1% in 440nm at diameter and in 610nm at lattice constant by dimensional analysis by SEM and AFM.

  • Since 1995, One of the NGIS(National Geographic Information System) projects, the underground utilities project has been finished in 2003. The 19 cities in korea for this project will use underground utilities management system using underground utilities database focusing on water and sewage system. However, special expert, technical and experience problem in computer environment has not been had in working department for water and sewage management and maintenance for each local government. The management and maintenance of underground utilities database by manual method is getting lowered a data quality of underground utilities database because of the data omitting, error in writing and securing of the lasted database. Therefore, in this study, Application test for field workers using a mobile tool and environment analysis of wireless communication in Korea and application test of GPS receiver for mobile tools had been processed and made a mobile working environment. The efficient management and maintenance method for underground utilities database has been developed an off- line method for modification and update of database about general work which has a high working frequency because of the limitation of wireless communication environment Also, the emergency working has been applied for on-line method.

  • In this study, we developed an elementary science performance assessment material on STS theme, especially the respiration. The material is constituted with 3 components, which are performance task, students' response format and scoring system, and it also has various objective domains such as applying science knowledge, improving science attitude, using ICT, communicating and reflective thinking. It offers teachers a tool by which they can assess students' abilities on a whole. The task is made with the motivation-evoking content of 'No Smoking'. It is constructed on the activity of writing a letter to his/her father not to smoke. The students' response format is made by problem solving process, and the scoring system is matched with the steps of students' response. The material involves several theoretical backgrounds and the strengths of performance assessment. In addition, due to the detailed students' format and scoring system, it can be used practically in elementary science classroom.

The Use of Weblogs as a Tool for Thai Political Engagement

  • Political weblogs are as diverse as political viewpoints are. In the period of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, several political crises occurred, such as opposition to the Amnesty Act, the constitutional amendment, and the anti-government protests. Remarkably, during this time, social media were used as a platform for political expressions. This study employed a content analysis method to explore twenty-nine Thai political weblogs established during the period of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's administration. At the time, the most prominent Thai political weblogger was Nidhi Eawsriwong. Not surprisingly, the Pheu Thai Party and the Democrat Party were the most frequently appearing political parties in these weblog's posts. Most contents in these posts were related to government protesters by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and the coup d'état. The purposes of writing such weblogs were to express feelings and thoughts about Thai politics and to provide political information to the general public. The findings from this investigation revealed two significant uses of Thai political weblogs: the communication media for political expressions and viewpoints (a safe online space for political engagement and participation), and vital sources for Thai political information and news (social narratives).

  • 논문이나 문서를 작성하다 보면 주로 자신이 사용하는 개인용 컴퓨터(PC)에서 작업한다. 다른 PC에서 문서 작업을 하게 되면, 자신이 사용하던 PC의 자료나 작업 환경이 틀리기 때문에 불편함을 겪게 된다. 다른 PC에서 작업해야 하는 경우에 워드프로세서 등의 기존에 작성된 문서 프로그램을 일일이 설치해야 한다. 그리고 모아둔 문서 자료 또한 번번이 이동 저장 매체 등으로 자료 이동 작업을 해야만 한다. 이 외에도 아주 사소한 문제들이 자신의 PC 이외의 환경에서 문서 작업을 힘들게 한다. 요즘은 인터넷이 발달해 있기 때문에, 인터넷의 특정한 공간에 자신의 자료를 저장하는 방식으로 해결하려 한다. 하지만 인터넷이 대중화된 아직까지도 인터넷 장애는 빈번히 일어나거나, 뜻하지 않는 일로 인터넷 연결을 보장 할 수가 없으므로 이러한 방법에도 한계가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 모든 작업 환경을 맞춰주지는 못하지만, 자신이 수집한 자료와 문서 작업이 동시에 한 시스템에서 이루어지도록 하는 방법을 제안한다. 또한 본 시스템은 이동형 저장 매체에 자리 잡고 있어서 이를 휴대하기만 하면 웹브라우저가 있는 다른 PC에서 자신의 작업을 그대로 이어갈 수 있는 그러한 시스템을 제안하고자 한다.

  • Overleaf is a cloud-based LaTeX editor, allowing users to easily create and collaborate on documents without the need for separate LaTeX installation or configuration. Thanks to this convenience, users from various fields worldwide are writing, editing, and collaborating on academic papers, reports, and more via web browsers. However, the caching that occurs during the process of converting documents written on Overleaf to PDF format poses risks of exposing sensitive information. This could potentially lead to the exposure of users' work to others, necessitating the implementation of security measures and vigilance to caution against such incidents. This paper delves into an in-depth analysis of Overleaf's security vulnerabilities and proposes various measures to enhance the protection of intellectual property.

  • Recently, the improvement of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies leverages many new technologies like the virtual study room, virtual architecture room. Such virtual worlds require free handed drawing technology such as writing descriptions of formula or drawing blue print of buildings. In nature, lots of view point modifications occur when we walk around inside the virtual world. Especially, we often look some objects from near to far distance in the virtual world. Traditional drawing methods like using fixed size image for drawing unit is not produce acceptable result because they generate blurred and jaggy result as view distance varying. We propose a novel method which robust to the environment that produce lots of magnifications and minimizations like the virtual reality world. We implemented our algorithm both two dimensional and three dimensional devices. Our algorithm does not produce any artifacts, jaggy or blurred result regardless of scaling factor.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the educational value of student portfolio and to give the direction of making student portfolio. Qualitative research method was used to accomplish objectives of the study. 9 students who were winner in competition of student portfolio in I University at Incheon Province were interviewed. Data were recorded, transcribed and analyzed. Most students started to make student portfolio by compulsory, but they realized that it was necessary to start student portfolio from the lower grades. They had difficulties in not having materials of activities and hesitated at the beginning of making student portfolio even though they got standard form from the university. Students recognized that making student portfolio was effective tool because it could enhance self-reflection, awareness of importance of record, preparation of future, obtaining of motivation for anonther activities, getting self-confidence, and improvement of writing skill.

  • As a smart mobile device is gaining popularity as a tool to utilize internet services, the demand on the cloud service (which eliminates the spatial and/or temporal restrictions in enjoying the services) is increasing. This trend also has an effect on the style of performing business tasks so that the concept of 'smart-work' (e.g. doing business tasks in anywhere and anytime) is being spread over the industries. The facilities for the smart-work is, however, focused on providing the tools designed to supporting business tasks such as co-working in writing documents, video conference, searching data via smart (mobile) devices neglecting the industries' needs for the infrastructure by which they can create their own business applications and mobile cloud services at a low (or moderate) price. The paper proposes a mobile cloud service platform, which provides an SDK for developing business applications and offers the applications to smart mobile devices as a PaaS (Platform as a Service).
