Representing Navigation Information on Real-time Video in Visual Car Navigation System

  • Car navigation system is a key application in geographic information system and telematics. A recent trend of car navigation system is using real video captured by camera equipped on the vehicle, because video has more representation power about real world than conventional map. In this paper, we suggest a visual car navigation system that visually represents route guidance. It can improve drivers' understanding about real world by capturing real-time video and displaying navigation information overlaid directly on the video. The system integrates real-time data acquisition, conventional route finding and guidance, computer vision, and augmented reality display. We also designed visual navigation controller, which controls other modules and dynamically determines visual representation methods of navigation information according to current location and driving circumstances. We briefly show implementation of the system.

  • As the world's population grows, the food industry becomes increasingly important. Among them, agriculture is an industry that produces stocks of people all over the world, which is very important food industry. Despite the growing importance of agriculture, however, a large number of crops are lost every year due to pests and malnutrition. So, we propose a plant anomaly detection system for managing crops incorporating deep learning and drones with various possibilities. In this paper, we develop a system that analyzes images taken by drones and GPS of the drone's movement path and visually displays them on a map. Our system detects plant anomalies with 97% accuracy. The system is expected to enable efficient crop management at low cost.

  • This paper proposes a photorealistic real-time dense 3D mapping system that utilizes a neural network-based image enhancement method and mesh-based map representation. Due to the characteristics of the underwater environment, where problems such as hazing and low contrast occur, it is hard to apply conventional simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) methods. At the same time, the behavior of Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) is computationally constrained. In this paper, we utilize a neural network-based image enhancement method to improve pose estimation and mapping quality and apply a sliding window-based mesh expansion method to enable lightweight, fast, and photorealistic mapping. To validate our results, we utilize real-world and indoor synthetic datasets. We performed qualitative validation with the real-world dataset and quantitative validation by modeling images from the indoor synthetic dataset as underwater scenes.

  • Conventional 2D GIS has many difficulties to visualize and analyze three dimensional real world. To improve those problems and implement realistic spatial analysis, Interest in 3D GIS is increasing remarkably. Currently, Some local governments are carrying out pilot projects for 3D GIS, Government also is setting up the master plan and the road map for national information construction. In this study, introducing 3D GIS to urban planning, we evaluated limits of conventional regulation and proposed effective and reasonable means lot restricting location of merrymaking place in local government.

  • An autonomous mobile robot has been developed which can follow a travel map drawn on a monitor screen using a software. The robot works as an exhbition guide making announcement regrading the events to take place or introducing the products on display. This mobile robot computes the world position and heading direction through camera image, ultrasonic and infrared sensors in real time using specially designed algorithm. This mobile robot will be exhibited at '93 Tae-Jeon EXPO for an exhibition guide, and will be used in a plant or a hospital for materials handling purposes.

  • The management method of the irrigation facilities are different with management agency , type, user, purpose of use, and the accuracy of data applied for the grasp of present situation and maintenance is of a low grade. Therefore the information management system is needed to classify and systematize the data. The purpose of this study is to prepare the digital map of Chonbuk FLIA district, to construct the database of the irrigation facilities , to develop the information system for the management using World Wide Web, to supply and be able to use easily to whomever needs it.

  • 국가 간 경쟁의 주체가 국가에서 도시를 중심으로 하는 지역으로 변화함에 따라 지역경쟁력이 국가경쟁력의 근원으로, 지역차원의 조직이 국가 간 핵심 경쟁 단위로 부상하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 한국의 75개 광역·기초시를 대상으로 하는 IPS 도시경쟁력 평가 모델을 통해 도시의 경쟁력을 구체화하고, 특히, 춘천시의 현재와 미래경쟁력 평가결과를 바탕으로 춘천시의 경쟁력 강화전략을 2010년 춘천시에서 개최되는 World Leisure Congress와 World Leisure Game 행사가 춘천시에 미치는 효과를 중심으로 검토하였다. 이러한 논의는 도시의 현재경쟁력뿐만 아니라 미래경쟁력까지 포괄하여 검토함으로써 도시의 경쟁력 강화에 대한 시각의 포괄성을 제시함은 물론, 도시의 여건 및 정책의 문제점을 진단하는 준거로 삼을 수 있으며 이에 대한 문제해결과 함께 보다 발전적인 도시전략 수립을 위한 척도가 된다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

토너먼트 기반의 빅데이터 분석 알고리즘 (An Algorithms for Tournament-based Big Data Analysis)

  • 모든 데이터는 그 자체로 가치를 가지고 있지만, 실세계에서 수집되는 데이터들은 무작위적이며 비구조화되어 있다. 따라서 이러한 데이터를 효율적으로 활용하기 위해서 데이터에서 유용한 정보를 추출하기 위한 데이터 변환과 분석 알고리즘들을 사용하게 된다. 이러한 목적으로 사용되는 것이 데이터 마이닝이다. 오늘날에는 데이터를 분석하기 위한 다양한 데이터 마이닝 기법뿐만 아니라, 대용량 데이터를 효율적으로 처리하기 위한 연산 요건과 빠른 분석 시간을 필요로 하고 있다. 대용량 데이터를 저장하기 위하여 하둡이 많이 사용되며, 이 하둡의 데이터를 분석하기 위하여 맵리듀스 프레임워크를 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 단일 머신에서 동작하는 알고리즘을 맵리듀스 프레임워크로 개발할 때 적용의 효율성을 높이기 위한 토너먼트 기반 적용 방안을 제안하였다. 본 방법은 다양한 알고리즘에 적용할 수 있으며, 널리 사용되는 데이터 마이닝 알고리즘인 k-means, k-근접 이웃 분류에 적용하여 그 유용성을 보였다.
