The progress is widely used as a critical index for successful construction project management. In spite of the importance of progress measurement, the excessive management effort to collect and maintain detailed data has been highlighted as a major barrier to measurement of highly accurate progress. In order to reduce the required workload and to enhance accuracy, several researches have been conducted. These researches can be categorized into two groups. First group focuses on automated data collection utilizing advanced technologies only for limited construction tasks. The second group is a research area where the standard progress measurement methodologies encompassing entire construction tasks are investigated. Topics include the adjusting the level of details, standardizing work processes, and applying flexible WBS. However, the techniques for automated data collection are not fully investigated yet in the second group. Combining these two research areas can provide a solution for more effective progress management in terms of enhancing accuracy and optimizing workload. However, there has been no comprehensive research addressing these two research groups in an integrated manner. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology that identifies the most suitable measurement method and data acquisition technology (e.g., GPS, RFID, etc.) for entire construction tasks of a project. The proposed methodology in this paper will be able to facilitate the selection process of data acquisition technologies for entire construction tasks of a project and to support the overall enhancement of automated progress management.
In this paper, we explore the efficient processing of continuous range queries over a huge number of moving objects, each of which retrieves the moving objects that are currently located within a geographic query region of interest. The moving objects should continually communicate with the server to report their current locations, so as to keep the results of the continuous range queries up-to-date. However, this increases the server workload and involves a enormous amount of communication as the number of continuous range queries and the moving objects becomes enormous. In this paper, we adopt an approach where we leverage available memory and computational resources of the moving objects in order to resolve these problems. To this end, we propose a query indexing structure, referred to as the Space Partitioning Query Index(SPQI), which enables the server to efficiently cooperate with the moving objects for processing continuous range queries. SPQI improves system performance in terms of server workload and communication cost. Through simulations, we show the superiority of SPQI.
Container terminal yards operate under a high degree of uncertainty as the contact point between inbound and outbound operations of vessels and external trucks. The layout, equipment operations. and job orders at the yards determine the efficacy and delays of the work, so many studies have investigated improvements in efficiency. H company, a container terminal operator developed an index called WDI to distribute work among RTGCs. The WDI is an indicator to prevent congestion in one place by equally distributing the work to each RTGC. This paper analyzes the effect of the WDI introduction and discusses the causes and results of the WDI introduction effect from quantitative and qualitative perspectives.
This study aimed to assess the effects of progressive lumbar stability exercises and lumbar stability exercises on changes in the transversus abdominis muscle thickness and lower extremity muscle fatigue index in soccer players. Ten subjects were assigned to undergo training in each of the 2 groups, namely, the progressive lumbar stability exercise group and lumbar stability exercise group. Each intervention session lasted for 30 min, and 4 sessions were conducted in a week for 6 weeks for soccer players of S. University in Jeonnam, Korea. Changes in the transversus abdominis muscle thickness and lower extremity muscle fatigue index were measured using ultrasound and surface electromyogram. The results of the ultrasound measurement for the transversus abdominis muscle thickness indicated that progressive lumbar stability exercises were more effective than lumbar stability exercises. The results of the lower extremity muscle fatigue index measurements using surface electromyogram indicated that the fatigue index decreased in the progressive lumbar stability exercise group. Progressive lumbar stability exercise is believed to have put more workload during the shaking of the limbs, leading to increased stability and increased efficiency of the lower extremity muscle, thereby decreasing the fatigue index. Therefore, progressive lumbar stability exercises can be an effective measure for preventing injuries and improving the game performance of sports players by increasing the transversus abdominis muscle thickness and decreasing the lower extremity muscle fatigue index.

Traditional databases exploit a record-based model, where the attributes of a record are placed contiguously in a slow hard disk to achieve high performance. On the other hand, for read-intensive data analysis systems, the column-based compressed database has become a proper model because of its superior read performance. Currently, flash memory SSD is largely recognized as the preferred storage media for high-speed analysis systems. This paper introduces a compressed column-storage model and proposes a new index and its data management scheme for a high-capacity data warehouse system. The proposed index management scheme is based on the asymmetric index duplication and achieves superior search performance using the master index and compact index, particularly for large read-mostly databases. In addition, the data management scheme contributes to the read performance and high reliability by compressing the related columns and replicating them in two mirrored SSD. Based on the results of the performance evaluation under the high workload conditions, the data management scheme outperforms the traditional scheme in terms of the search throughput and response time.

Background: Police officers' stress perception, frequency of stressful events (stressors), and police work characteristics may contribute to poor sleep quality through different mechanisms. Methods: We investigated associations of stress severity (measured by stress rating score) and frequency of stressors with sleep quality and examined the influence of police work characteristics including workload, police rank, prior military experience, and shift work on the associations. Participants were 356 police officers (256 men and 100 women) enrolled in the Buffalo Cardio-Metabolic Occupational Police Stress Study from 2004 to 2009. A mean stress rating score and mean frequency of stressors occurring in the past month were computed for each participant from the Spielberger Police Stress Survey data. Sleep quality was assessed using the global score derived from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index survey. Linear associations of the stress rating score and frequency of stressors with sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index global score) were tested. Age, sex, race/ethnicity, and smoking status were selected as potential confounders. Results: The stress rating score was positively and independently associated with poor sleep quality (${\beta}=0.17$, p = 0.002). Only workload significantly modified this association (${\beta}=0.23$, p = 0.001 for high workload group; p-interaction = 0.109). The frequency of stressors was positively and independently associated with poor sleep quality (${\beta}=0.13$, p = 0.025). Only police rank significantly modified the association (${\beta}=0.007$, p = 0.004 for detectives/other executives; p-interaction = 0.076). Conclusion: Both police officers' perception of stress severity and the frequency of stressors are associated with poor sleep quality. Stress coping or sleep promotion regimens may be more beneficial among police officers reporting high workloads.

There is no doubt that advances in UAV technology have improved military performance. However, these advances require humans to adapt to new and complex operational systems. UAV has been rapidly expanding to a variety of fields such as reconnaissance, transportation, communication and aerial photographing recently. Also, with the development of UAV automation technology, one operator is able to supervisory-control multiple-UAVs. However, as the number of assigned UAV increases, the amount of information increases and this results in the workload of the operator increasing and deterioration in controlling performance. Accordingly, there is a need for a model to determine the level of overload an operator may encounter with regard to multiple-UAV but nationally this kind of research is currently lacking. Therefore, this paper provides an experimental platform for evaluating workload index effectiveness integrating multiple-UAV operational environments, GCS, and eye-tracking system followed by a limited survey of domestic and international studies of multi-UAV overload studies.

Objectives : The objective of this study is to discuss problems and potential improvements of national health insurance fees associated with miniscalpel acupuncture according to Korean medical doctors' workload, material cost and degree of risk. Methods : We researched the change of relative value points, national health insurance fees, the acupuncture process, and Korean medicine doctors' workload related to Miniscalpel acupuncture, as compared to general meridian point acupuncture. We also examined material cost by surveying pharmacies, internet shopping malls and medical appliance shops. Results : Relative value point for Miniscalpel acupuncture decreased from 2010 to 2012, and remained the same from 2012 to 2016. National health insurance fees for Miniscalpel acupuncture increased by a small margin annually for rise of equivalent index. There was no reporting on workload related to Miniscalpel acupuncture. Material cost of Miniscalpel acupuncture was 18.2~20.7 times higher than actual cost of procedure. There were few studies examining medical accidents related to Miniscalpel acupuncture, and thus we could not evaluate degree of risk. Conclusion : We suggest revaluating Korean medical doctors' workload related to including Miniscalpel acupuncture, to consider the material costs of Miniscalpel acupuncture, and investigate its degree of risk by researching medical accidents.
XML can describe a wide range of data, from regular to irregular and from flat to deeply nested. Thus, XML is rapidly emerging as the do facto standard for the Web document format since XML supports an efficient data exchange and integration. Also, to retrieve the data represented by XML, several XML query languages are proposed. XML query languages such as XPath and XQuery use path expressions to traverse irregularly structured data which comprise B% elements. To evaluate path expressions, various path indexes are proposed. However, traditional path indexes are constructed by utilizing only the XML data structure. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an adaptive path index which utilizes the XML data structure as well as query workloads. To improve the query performance, the adaptive path index proposed by this paper manages the frequently used paths and the structural summary of the XML data using a hash tree and a graph structure. Experimental results show that the adaptive path index improves the query performance typically 2 to 69 times compared with the existing indexes.
