Distributed Content Delivering Network (DCDN) will make use of the existing resources of the common Internet users in terms of storage space, bandwidth and Internet connectivity to create it. However DCDN has some limitations that are inefficient using of storage space, reliability and having special load balancing (LB) algorithm. So, this paper proposes Re-distribution based CDN (RDCDN) that overcomes the limitations of DCDN. RDCDN has the content re-distribution algorithm and separates surrogates to main surrogate and sub surrogates. Main surrogate can help service reliability be improved by storing all contents as back-up system. And content re-distribution algorithm also can help storage space be saved because all contents are not stored in every surrogate. Especially, when RDCwDN uses content re-distribution algorithm, it can work active load balancing function without extra LB algorithm like as DCDN. Results of simulation show that the proposed architecture can improve reliability and efficiency of storage space, and it also can offer the same performance as that of commercial CDN and DCDN.
Due to improved wireless communication technologies, it is possible to provide multimedia streaming service for mobile device clients like PDAs and cellphones. Wireless networks are serviced on low bandwidth channels and mobile devices work on limited hardware specifications. In these conditions, transcoding technologies are needed to adapt the media for streaming services to given mobile environments. To transcode from the source media to the target media for corresponding grades, transcoding servers perform transcoding jobs as exhausting their resources. Since various transcoding loads occur according to the target transconding grades, an effective transcoding load balancing policy is required among transcoding servers. In addition to transcoding process, servers should maintain QoS streams for mobile clients for total serviced times. It requires real-time requirements to support QoS for various mobile clients. In this paper, a new transcoding load distribution method is proposed. The proposed method can be driven for fair load balance between distributed transcoding servers. Based on estimated transcoding time, movie information and target transcoding bit-rate, it provides fair transcoding load distribution and also performs admission control to support QoS streams for mobile clients.
Parallel implementation and performance assessment of the grid assembly in a structured chimera grid approach is studied. The grid assembly process, involving hole cutting and searching donor, is parallelized on the PC cluster. A message passing programming model based on the MPI library is implemented using the single program multiple data(SPMD) paradigm. The coarse-grained communication is optimized with the minimized memory allocation because that the parallel grid assembly can access the decomposed geometry data in other processors by only message passing in the distributed memory system such as a PC cluster. The grid assembly workload is based on the static load balancing tied to flow solver. A goal of this work is a development of parallelized grid assembly that is suited for handling multiple moving body problems with large grid size.
Optical burst switching is a promising switching paradigm for the next IP-over-optical network backbones. However, its burst loss performance is greatly affected by burst contention. Several methods have been proposed to address this problem, some of them requiring the network to be flooded by frequent state dissemination signaling messages. In this work, we present a traffic engineering approach for path selection with the objective of minimizing contention using only topological information. The main idea is to balance the traffic across the network to reduce congestion without incurring link state dissemination protocol penalties. We propose and evaluate two path selection strategies that clearly outperform shortest path routing. The proposed path selection strategies can be used in combination with other contention resolution methods to achieve higher levels of performance and support the network reaching stability when it is pushed under stringent working conditions. Results show that the network connectivity is an important parameter to consider.

Generally, automobile cooling fan is used to lower the temperature of radiator. The cooling fans are manufactured by plastic injection molding process. The center of gravity of cooling fan is often deviated from the center because of the use of deteriorated materials. As the unbalance of the cooing fan can generate noise, it is required to test the performance of the cooling fans. In this work, automatic fan balancer which can distinguish between the good and the bad, futhermore idenfify the position and magnitude of unbalance is develpoed.

Today, many middle-sized shipbuilding companies in Korea are experiencing strong competition from shipbuilding companies in other nations. This competition is particularly affecting small- and middle-sized shipyards, rather than the major shipyards that have their own support systems and development capabilities. The acquisition of techniques that would enable maximization of production efficiency and minimization of the gap between planning and execution would increase the competitiveness of small- and middle-sized Korean shipyards. In this paper, research on a simulation-based support system for ship production management, which can be applied to the shipbuilding processes of middle-sized shipbuilding companies, is presented. The simulation research includes layout optimization, load balancing, work stage operation planning, block logistics, and integrated material management. Each item is integrated into a network system with a value chain that includes all shipbuilding processes.

This is the continuation of a numerical study on vortex shedding from a blunt trailing-edge of a hydrofoil. In our previous work (Lee et al., 2015), numerical schemes for efficient computations were successfully implemented; i.e. multiple domains, the approximation of domain boundary conditions using cubic spline functions, and particle-based domain decomposition for better load balancing. In this study, numerical results through a hybrid particle-mesh method which adopts the Vortex-In-Cell (VIC) method and the Brinkman penalization model are further rigorously validated through comparison to experimental data at the Reynolds number of $2{\times}10^6$. The effects of changes in numerical parameters are also explored herein. We find that the present numerical method enables us to reasonably simulate vortex shedding phenomenon, as well as turbulent wakes of a hydrofoil.

A bonded warehouse is the warehouse located in bonded area. It functions not only as a general warehouse but also as a place for managing the work related to import and export bonded goods. As a general warehouse, it uses the rack system to store the goods and the folk lift truck to move the unitized goods. The operation of the storing system closely related to the efficiency of space uses in a warehouse and vehicle working. Thus, vehicle performance measured in distance units in the ware-house could be used as one of the key performance measure in warehouse system. This paper focuses on the operation efficiency of the bonded warehouse which uses rack system for the storing and the folk lift truck for moving goods. The method of load allocation for balancing the rack uses and vehicle operation for maximizing efficiency are the specific concerns in this paper. The simulation study is conducted to find a policy for efficient vehicle operation based on balanced rack utilization, and the favorable result for the system operation would lead the usable proposal in vehicle operation.

The effectiveness of multicores depends on how well a scheduler can assign tasks onto the cores efficiently. In a heterogeneous multicore platform, the execution time of an application depends on which core it executes on. That is to say, the effectiveness of task assignment is one of the important components for a multicore systems' performance. This work proposes a load scheduling technique that analyzes execution time of each task by profiling. The profiling result provides a basic information to predict which task-to-core mapping is likely to provide the best performance. By using such information, the proposed technique is about 26% performance gain.

A parallel version of sheet forming analysis program was developed. This version is compatible with any parallel computers which support MPI that is one of the most recent and popular message passing libraries. For this purpose, SERI-SFA, a vector version which runs on Cray Y-MP C90, a sequential vector computer, was used as a source code. For the sake of the effectiveness of the work, the parallelization was focused on the selected part after checking the rank of CPU consumed from the exemplary calculation on Cray Y-MP C90. The subroutines associated with contact algorithm was selected as targe parts. For this work, MPI was used as a message passing library. For the performance verification, an oil pan and an S-rail forming simulation were carried out. The performance check was carried out by the kernel and total CPU time along with theoretical performance using Amdahl's Law. The results showed some performance improvement within the limit of the selective paralellization.
