  • Owing to the development of mobile communication technology during the last a few years, the number of users of mobile devices such as the smartphone and the tablet PC has increased rapidly. As a result, the range of applications of the mobile devices has also been greatly expanded from an application for the convenience of daily life to an application for assisting the operations of industrial fields. Especially, portability of mobile devices can provide great help in collecting and using information on the production site. In shipbuilding production processes, it is difficult to collect changes of circumstance in the field and reflect the changes to schedule due to the low production automation rate and frequent changes in schedule. In this study, we propose a system to solve the problems of shipbuilding production processes such as the ones described above by using mobile devices. First of all, we organize the production information and production processes of the panel line through the analysis of shipyard panel line operations. Next, we have developed a system that can support the production execution plan of the panel line and monitor the production processes in the field. The system was developed utilizing application virtualization to allow access to the system from various platforms of mobile devices and PC's. The system was implemented using ooCBD methodology considering the future expansion of the system and ease of maintenance.

  • Background: This paper describes a simple-to-use and reliable screening tool called Critical Task Exposure Screening (CTES), developed by a chemical company. The tool assesses if the exposure to a chemical for a task is likely to be within acceptable levels. Methods: CTES is a Microsoft Excel tool, where the inhalation risk score is calculated by relating the exposure estimate to the corresponding occupational exposure limit (OEL) or occupational exposure band (OEB). The inhalation exposure is estimated for tasks by preassigned ART1.5 activity classes and modifying factors. Results: CTES requires few inputs. The toxicological data, including OELs, OEBs, and vapor pressure are read from a database. Once the substance is selected, the user specifies its concentration and then chooses the task description and its duration. CTES has three outputs that may trigger follow-up: (1) inhalation risk score; (2) identification of the skin hazard with the skin warnings for local and systemic adverse effects; and (3) status for carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic effects. Conclusion: The tool provides an effective way to rapidly screen low-concern tasks, and quickly identifies certain tasks involving substances that will need further review with, nevertheless, the appropriate conservatism. This tool shows that the higher-tier ART1.5 inhalation exposure assessment model can be included effectively in a screening tool. After 2 years of worldwide extensive use within the company, CTES is well perceived by the users, including the shop floor management, and it fulfills its target of screening tool.

패션의류시장에 있어서 하이브리드 마케팅 경로 관리 연구 (Managing Hybrid Marketing Channels for Fashion Apparel Industry(in Korea))

  • 마케팅 경로 관리에 있어서 하이브리드 경로를 활용할 때는 경로 통제 잇점(직접경로)과 경로 관리의 유연성(간접경로)을 동시에 기대할 수 있다. 그러나 동시에 거래 당사자들의 다양한 이질적 기대치와 우선적 권리 확보 성향과 충돌할 수 있는 위험에 노출되게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구는 하이브리드 경로 관리의 비용과 편익에 대한 이해를 높이고자 시작된 것이며, 특히 패션의류시장에서 빈번히 활용되는 하이브리드 마케팅 경로, 당사자 간의 상호 지배문제, 상호 갈등문제 그리고 경로 관리 효율성을 높이고자 수행된 것이다. 이를 위해, 첫째, 기업간 지배 및 기업내 지배 문제를 통해 마케팅 경로 관리를 분석하고 나아가 판매원(샵마스터)관리 문제를 통합하여 분석하고자 한다. 둘째, 본 연구에 제시된 하나의 개별 틀 속에서 경로 지배관련 두 관점을 하나로 통합하여 추후 연구토대를 제시하고있다. 패션의류 메이커와 소매업자간의 경로 관계를 축으로 실증 조사된 결과, 본 연구에서 제시된 이론적 가설이 긍정적으로 뒷받침 되고 있다.

Lung Function of Grain Millers Exposed to Grain Dust and Diesel Exhaust in Two Food Markets in Ibadan Metropolis, Nigeria

  • Background: Despite growing concern over occupational exposure to particulate matter (PM) such as grain dust and diesel exhaust, information about the exposure level and health implications among workers in small-scale milling enterprises in developing countries like Nigeria has not been adequately documented. The purpose of this study was to assess the level of exposure to grain dust and diesel exhaust and effect on lung function among grain millers in food markets in Ibadan metropolis, Nigeria. Methods: The study adopted descriptive cross-sectional design with a comparative approach. Sixteen grain milling shops each were randomly selected from two major food markets in Ibadan metropolis for indoor $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ monitoring. Seventy-two respondents each were proportionately selected from grain millers and shop owners for forced expiratory volume in one second and peak expiratory flow rate tests. Results: The $PM_{2.5}$ concentrations for both market locations ranged between 1,269.3 and $651.7{\mu}g/m^3$, while $PM_{10}$ concentrations were between 1,048.2 and $818.1{\mu}g/m^3$. The recorded concentrations exceeded the World Health Organization guideline limit of $50{\mu}g/m^3$ and $25{\mu}g/m^3$ for $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10}$, respectively. As compared with control group (2.1 L), significantly lower forced expiratory volume in one second value (1.61 L) was observed among the exposed group (p < 0.05). Likewise, significantly lower peak expiratory flow rate value (186.7 L/min) was recorded among the exposed group than the control group (269.51 L/min) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Exposure to grain dust and diesel exhaust accentuated respiratory disorders with declines in lung functions amongst grain millers. Improved milling practices and engaging cleaner milling facilities should be adopted to minimize exposure and related hazards.

  • 철도차량은 제품의 특성상 일정한 수량의 차량이 결합되어 편성이 구성되며, 프로젝트는 복수의 편성을 고객에게 납품하는 것으로 계약이 이뤄지는데 만일 납기를 지키지 못하면 생산자가 지체보상금을 고객에게 지불해야 한다. 이 논문에서는 부품의 결품이 발생하는 상황에서 흐름라인 방식으로 운영되는 철도차량 의장공장의 운영전략에 대해 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 분석한다. 만일 부품의 결품이 발생한다면 조립공정의 특성상 후속 조립공정이 진행될 수 없다. 따라서 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 부품의 결품이 발생했을 때 조립작업을 수행하는 3가지 전략을 제시하였고, 인건비와 지체보상금을 합한 총 비용이 전략에 따라 어떻게 변화되는지 비교하였다.

  • Industrialized and modular construction is a growing construction technique that can transfer a large portion of the construction process to off-site fabrication yards. This method of construction often involves the fabrication, pre-assembly, and transportation of massive and long volumetric modules. The module weight keeps increasing as the modules become more complete (with infill) to minimize the work at the site and, as higher productivity can be achieved at the fabrication shop. Thus, a volumetric module delivery gets more challenging and risky. Despite its importance, past research paid relatively insufficient attention to the problem related to the lifting of heavy modules. This can be a complex and time-consuming problem with multiple lifting for transportation-and-installation operations both in fabrication yard and jobsite, and require complex crane operations (sometimes, more than one crane) due to crane load capacity and load balance/stability. This study investigates this problem by focusing on the structural perspective of lifting such long volumetric modules through simulation studies. Various scenarios of lifting a weighty module from the top using four lifting cables attached to crane hooks (either a single crane or double crane) are simulated in SAP software. The simulations account for various factors pertaining to structural indices, e.g., bending stress and deflection, to identify a proper method of module lifting from a structural point of view. The method can identify differences in structural indices allowing identification of structural efficiency and safety levels during lifting, which further allows the selection of the number of cranes and location of lifting points.

Role of the Third Place in Building Communities and Social Capital : Contributions of Coffee Shops as Third Places in Kuwait

  • Third places are those that offer a space outside of work and home for people to escape the stress associated with the primary spaces of their lives. Through social interactivity these help in acquiring some emotional support provided by a close and intimate attachment. Such social support can turn into social resources for individuals and can lead to forming communities that may become incubators for social capital through regular visits to shared socializing places. This paper focuses on social interaction that takes place through the third place and the communities that are being created as a contributing factor to knowledge management. The study being reported in this paper investigated the role of coffee shops as third places in building communities and social capital in Kuwait. A mixed-method approach was used to conduct the study. These methods included qualitative methods such as extended conversations in the form of semi-structured interviews and quantitative methods of using questionnaires distributed to coffee shop staff and visitors. Results indicated that importance attached to providing facilities by coffee shops reflected that the owners perceived these as third places. The facilities attracted customers to coffee houses where interactions took place that helped to build communities. The pattern of visits by customers showed that mostly they come in groups and have meetings and gatherings that facilitated and encouraged interactions. The communities that are being built in the coffee shops are indicative of these being perceived as third places by owners, customers, and staff. This study shows the potential of coffee shops as a major sector of the food industry promising a valuable contribution in transformation and transition to a knowl- edge-based economy in Kuwait.

재투입공정 하에서 DBR 기법 적용 방안 및 효과분석 (An Application Method and Effect Analysis of the DBR(Drum-Buffer-Rope) Method Under the Re-entrant Process)

  • DBR(Drum-Buffer-Rope)은 하나의 병목공정이 존재하는 생산라인을 드럼, 버퍼 그리고 로프로 구성하여 제약설비인 병목공정을 중심으로 효과적인 스케줄링을 수립하는 데 좋은 전략으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 최근 제품의 다양성이 증가되면서 공정의 복잡성이 높아지고, 자재 및 중간재의 재투입을 요구하는 공정이 많아지고 있다. 재투입 공정은 원자재가 완제품으로 생산될 때까지 동일한 설비에서 반복적으로 작업처리가 되어야 하므로 복잡한 작업환경을 가지게 된다. 본 연구는 기존의 흐름공정에서 우수한 성능을 보인 DBR 기반의 스케줄링 방법이 재투입이 있는 공정에서도 효과적으로 적용 가능한지 여부와 이를 위해서 추가적으로 검토되어야 할 전략들을 다루었다. 본 연구의 핵심은 재투입 공정에 DBR 방법을 적용하기 위하여 재투입 공정을 여러 개로 쪼개어 하나의 병목공정을 갖는 임의의 흐름공정(루프)으로 재구성한다는 점이다. 이러한 구조를 기반으로 본 연구에서는 두 가지 의사결정에 초점을 맞추어 생산 스케줄링 전략을 구성하였다. 첫째, 흐름공정마다 적정 수준의 재고수준과 안정적 생산성을 유지하기 위해 자재 투입시점과 적절한 투입량을 결정한다. 둘째는 각 공정별 상이한 작업 우선순위를 결정하는 방법이다. 본 연구는 실험을 위해 HP사의 TRC(Technology Research Center) 공정에 대한 시뮬레이션 모델을 설계하였고, DBR 기반 루프 스케줄링을 적용한 결과, cycle time의 감소 및 재공품재고의 루프 간 균형을 유지하는 것을 확인하였다.

헤어미용인의 직무만족이 직무성과에 미치는 영향 (Influence of the Job Performance upon the Hair beautician's Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 서울지역 헤어미용실 근무자 500명을 대상으로 SPSS18.0을 활용하여 통계분석을 실시하였다. 통계분석 방법은 표본의 인구통계학적 특성을 파악하기 위한 빈도분석, 타당성을 확인하기 위한 Varimax 직각회전방법을 이용한 요인분석, 신뢰성을 확인하기 위한 Cronbach's ${\alpha}$계수를 이용한 신뢰성 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 분산분석, Pearson의 상관관계 분석을 실시한 후 회귀분석을 통해 가설을 검증하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 분산분석 결과 직무만족, 직무성과는 성별, 연령, 교육수준, 직종/직위, 총 경력, 근무 년 수, 일일근무시간, 월 소득별로 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 헤어미용인의 직무만족은 직무성과에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 직무만족 수준이 높을수록 직무성과 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 직무만족은 구성원 자신이 담당하고 있는 직무를 통해 자신의 욕구 수준이 충족되어 직무성과를 높이는데 중요한 요인이 되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 성취동기와 임금, 승진, 보상 등 직무의 욕구를 가질때 헤어미용인들은 더욱 능동적이고 미래지향적인 역할을 수행할 것이다. 따라서 헤어미용인의 직무성과를 높이기 위해서는 직무만족에 주안점을 가질 수 있도록 경영자나 관리자는 프로그램 개발을 지속적으로 제시하여야 할 것이다.

자동차 조립공장 근로자의 누적외상성질환 자각증상 호소율과 관련 위험요인 (The Prevalence Subjective Symptom of Cumulative Trauma Disorders and Related Risk Factors among Workers in Automobile Assembly Plant)

  • Background : It goes without saying that cumulative trauma disorders is spreading to various types of occupation in many advanced countries including America, and it forms considerable rate of total occupational disorders already. and as the result of it, the seriousness of worker health problem and economic loss owing to production loss, recuperation expense, etc. are on the increasing trend through whole society. In case of Korea, the related measures as well as accurate fact-finding survey data on cumulative trauma disorders aren't prepared in detail, so it implies forward problem would be serious. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to draw the risk factor of cumulative trauma disorders in production factory, to forecast the rate of occurrence of cumulative trauma disorders on the basis of subjective symptoms, and to present forward realistic and effective prevention measures by showing the risk of cumulative trauma disorders, objecting the production factory of a domestic riding automobile assembly shop, by estimating in the aspect of human-engineering through the analysis of risk factor being a cause of cumulative trauma disorders. Methods : For this study, I investigated work type and on-duty hours, breathing time, and subjective symptoms of cumulative trauma disorders through questionnaire, objecting the workers in press. car body, coating, and outfit factory. Results : As a result of research, 81.2% of workers were in the physical burden due to present working, and the highest prevalence by part of body is an waist. The higher a rule score, The higher the number of workers complaind for working intensity, and the higher age work duration, tool used time, the higher prevalence of subjective symptoms by part of body. The number of workers complaind subjective symptom for treatment is the highest in drugstore.
