Development of Excitation Table for 2-dimensional Vibrational Micro Cutting (2차원 진동 미세가공을 위한 가진테이블 개발)

  • To realize 2-dimensional vibrational micro cutting in milling and drilling, etc. where the tools rotate, it could be a promising way to vibrate a workpiece instead of a rotating tool itself. In this study, an excitation work-table was developed using two piezoelectric materials orthogonally arranged. The trochoidal trajectory of a cutting tool which is necessary for 2D vibrational cutting is enabled in the excitation condition of higher excitation frequency and larger amplitude of vibration and the cutting condition of smaller diameter of cutting tool and lower spindle speed. The various trochoidal trajectories of a cutting tool could be generated in the excitation work-table by adjusting the input voltages to two piezoelectric materials and the phase between the two voltages and the trajectories could be readily used for the 2D vibrational micro cutting.

  • Recently, various efforts to make more speedy and precision machine tool to improve productivity and also various efforts to solve environmental problem are going on, so that dry cutting in manufacturing industry, which needs environmental conscious design and development of manufacturing technique, is becoming a very important assignment to solve. Because dry cutting does not use cutting fluid, we need other methods that can be used instead of cutting fluid, which does cooling, lubricating, chip washing, and anti-corrosion. Especially, because turning is a continuous work, the consideration of tool life and surface roughness due to continuous heat and poor lubrication is important. The purposes of this paper are the consideration of how well the compressed air can work instead of cutting fluid, and also the development of the method to select the optimum machining condition by the minimum numbers of experiments through the Taguchi method.

  • As the railroad-base is an important factor to maintenance the rolling stocks, it is essential to improve the current problems of the environment pollution, nose, vibration, welfare, work condition and to applicate the performance betterment cases to the new base construction and pre-base maintenance. When the new base construction and pre-base maintenance is proceeded, it is necessary to construct the optimized system which includes the user's opinions enough to prevent the waste of the budget ,in that some part of the budget is spent to improve convenience, work condition, and the fault of base system after the construction. Therefore, this research intends to present the problem of the pre-constructed facilities, the testing operators' opinions, the analysis and the investigation of facilities' improvement, thorough the indication of provisions and the analysis of the result of the survey of testing operators.

Roll의 수명예측 model 개발

  • The prevention of roll breakage in hot rolling process is improtant to reduce maintenance cost and production loss. Rolling conditions such as the roll force and torque have been intensively studied to overcome the roll breakage. in the present work, a model for life prediction of work rolls under working condition was developed and discussed. The model consists of stress analysis, crack propagation, wear and fatigue calculation model. Roll life can be predicted by stress, crack depth and fatigue damage calculated from this model. The reliability of stress analysis is backed up by the FEM analysis. From the result of simulation using by pressent model, although the fatigue damage of back up roll reachs 80% of practical limit, that of workroll was less than 40%. In edge section of workroll stress amplification is found by wear and bender effect. We can judge that workroll failures are not due to fatigue damage, crack propagation by bending stress but stress amplification by wear and bender in present working condition.

  • The new trends in main spindle design of Machining Center are focused on high-speed, high-precision and high-stiffness. As a main spindle bearing, the angular-contact ball bearing is well used. A rolling bearing is usually only a small part of a larger mechanical system, but its performance can have a great influence on the functioning of the whole machine. This work is about fatigue life tester design and monitoring of defected rolling-element bearings. The major work is done via experiments and the vibration signal is analysised by means of frequency spectrum technique. By analyzing the frequency spectrum, it is possible to view the condition of the bearings.

  • The distillation column is one of large energy consumable units in the cryogenic air separation process and the accurate energy analysis of this unit is necessary for choice of energy saving process. In this work, the energy method was adopted for energy analysis of a cryogenic nitrogen distillation column. In order to designing the energy saving distillation column, the exergy distribution of feed air, exergy efficiency and exergy loss for process condition was investigated and the optimal process condition to minimize the exergy loss was found. The result from this work can be used as a guideline for the choice of the process design conditions and efficiency improvement of cryogenic distillation column.

  • This study dealt with some problems occurred in spectrometric oil analysis that has been popularly used for a machine condition monitoring in various fields of industry. One of the problems is that spectrometric technique could not analyze contaminants of large particle (larger than 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$) in lubricating oils. This limitation caused a serious problem in analyzing lubricated machine conditions since wear debris of large size represents better critical machine conditions. In this work, this problem was found to be solved by using a filtration method prior to spectrometric analysis. Another problem could be that spectrometric analysis is incapable of identifying contaminants. This nay mislead the result seriously in practice. This problem was surveyed by analyzing both various types of industrial lubricants and laboratory simulation tests, and the solutions to the problem were suggested in this work.

  • It shows not only positive effect with fan as a way of improving condition in workplace but also shows air supply, ventilation condition in welding site with CFD analyzation. Also when the wind blew to the front side by a fan, the welding Hume significantly reduced, As this was examined as CFD and was gone through enough exhaustion to become streamline flow laminar, the toxic materials will be reduced. The improvement of welding work and education are investigated to be more significant factors than wearing protective equipments and setting safety tools to prevent welding works from welding fume exposure.

  • Following the emergency work in Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, more attention was paid for the radiation protection of workers working under severe accident condition. The protection procedure for the emergency workers, including the on-site emergency center, the seismic isolated building and the reestablishment of the radiation protection framework were analyzed to investigate drawbacks and deficiencies which led to adverse effects on the emergency planning and on emergency workers' health and comfort. Those drawbacks were identified and studied, and then suggestions were made to enhance the emergency working condition to avoid any future problems during severe accident emergency work and management.

  • The objective of this work was to characterize mechanical properties of thermoplastic composites for various forming condition in compression molding. Randomly oriented long glass fiber reinforced polypropylene(PP) was used in the work. The composite materials contained 20%, 30%, and 40% glass fiber by weight. Compression molding was conducted to make the test specimen. Dimensional stability was measured on each forming condition with the spring-forward angle. Tensile test was conducted to characterize mechanical properties of formed parts in various forming conditions.
