  • This paper experimentally examined the recycling of combustion by-products emitted from a combined heat and power plant using lignocellulosic biomass fuel. Physical and chemical analyzes were performed on Bio-SRF and three types of wood pellet combustion by-product samples (fly-ash, FA). As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength of mortar substituted with 5, 10, and 20% of FA compared to the cement weight was found to be excellent, and its recyclability was confirmed as a substitute for existing admixtures.

  • Information on the heating values of municipal solid wastes is very important in evaluating the feasibility of incineration and RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) manufacture. This paper describes the forecasting methods about the lower heating values of municipal solid wastes. The lower heating values are forecast by the heating values of physical components. The municipal solid wastes consist of paper, food wastes, textiles, plastics, wood and rubber (contained leather). These are the physical components of municipal solid wastes.

온실가스 배출량 산정 방법에 따른 N2O 배출량 비교 (Comparison of N2O Emissions by Greenhouse Gas Emission Estimation Method)

  • In this study GC and PAS were used to calculate $N_2O$ concentration of exhaust gas from Wood Chip combustion system. Fuel supplied to the incinerator was collected and analyzed and then the analysis result was used to calculate $N_2O$ emissions. Tier 3 and Tier 4 Method were used to calculate the $N_2O$ emissions. Plant's Specific emission factor of $N_2O$ by Tier 3 Method was 0.35 kg/TJ, while default emission factor of Wood?Wood Waste proposed by 2006 IPCC G/L was 4 kg/TJ. So the $N_2O$ emission factor of this study was 3.65 kg/TJ lower compared to the IPCC G/L. The total emissions calculated by Plant's specific emission factor was 4.22 kg during the measuring period, but by Tier 4 Method it was 7.88 kg. This difference in emissions was caused by the difference of continuous measuring and intermittent sampling. It would be necessary to apply continuous measuring to calculate emissions of $Non-CO_2$ gas whose the density distribution is relatively high. However currently, according to the target management guideline of greenhouse gas and energy, the continuous measuring method to calculate greenhouse gas emission is applied only to $CO_2$. Therefore for reliable greenhouse gas emission calculation it would be necessary to apply continuous measuring to calculate $Non-CO_2$ gas emission.

첨가제로서 율피차 부산물과 피마자유가 리기다소나무 및 신갈나무 펠릿의 연료적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Chestnut-shell Tea Waste and Castor Oil as an Additive on Fuel Characteristics of Pellets Fabricated with Pitch Pine and Mongolian Oak)

  • This study aimed to determine the optimal conditions for fabricating pitch pine (PCP) and Mongolian oak (MOK) pellets using chestnut-shell tea waste (CSW) and castor oil (CSO) as additives. For pellets fabricated using a pilot-scale flat-die pellet mill, all moisture content (MC) was in line with A1 wood pellet standards for residential and small-scale commercial uses designated by the National Institute of Forest Science at the Republic of Korea (NIFOS), regardless of fabricating conditions; the durability of PCP pellets prepared using PCP particles with 10% MC, and CSW addition also satisfied these criteria. The moisture tolerance of PCP pellets improved with combination of 2 wt% CSW and 2-6 wt% CSO. Overall, use of 20 mesh CSW as an additive, PCP with 10% MC, and MOK with 12% MC was found to be optimal. Moreover, using CSO as an additive, high-quality PCP and MOK pellets can be fabricated by adjusting the particles to 12% MC. However, the durability of PCP and MOK pellets prepared using these conditions did not meet the wood pellet standards for residential and small-scale commercial use. Therefore, further research is needed to improve the durability of these pellets.

농림부산물 원료 펠릿 및 농업용 펠릿 난방기 (Pellet Made of Agricultural By-product and Agricultural Pellet Boiler System)

  • Biomass is considered to be a major potential fuel and renewable resource for the future. In fact, there is high potential to produce the large amount of energy from biomass around the world. In this study, to obtain basic data for practical application of wood pellet and wood pellet boiler system as heating system in agriculture, agricultural biomass resources were surveyed, pellet was made of agricultural by-product such as stem of rape, oat and rice, ricehusk and sawdust and wood pellet boiler system with capacity of 116 kW was manufactured and installed in greenhouse of $38.5m{\times}32m$. High heating value, bulk density and ash content of pellet made of agricultural by-product and efficiency and heating performance of this system was estimated. Rice straw was the largest agricultural biomass in 2005 and the total amount of rice straw converted into energy of $131.71{\times}10^{11}$ kJ. And in 2005, total amount of forest' by-product converted into energy of $29,277.05{\times}10^{11}$ kJ. High heating values of pellets made of agricultural by-products of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk were 16,034, 16,026, 16,089, 15,650, 15,044 kJ/kg respectively. High heating values of pellets made of agricultural by-products were 83.6% compared to that of wood pellet. Average bulk density of pellets made of agricultural by-products of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk was 1,400 $kg/m^3$. Ash contents of the pellets were 6.6, 7.0, 6.2, 5.5, 33% respectively. Ash content of rice husk pellet was the largest compared to other kind of pellets. To increase efficiency of agricultural pellet boiler, the boiler adopted secondary heat exchanger. The agricultural pellet boiler designed and manufactured in this study had high efficiency of 84.2% compared to the conventional agricultural pellet boiler, when water flow rate, exhaust gas temperature and average combustion furnace temperature were 39L/min, $180^{\circ}C$, $680^{\circ}C$ respectively. And pellet supplying and pausing time were 13, 43 seconds respectively. In March of 2010, prices of wood pellet, agricultural tax free diesel, diesel, kerosene were 350 won/kg, 811 won/L, 1,422 won/L, 976 Won/L respectively. Also in terms of energy, prices per same heating value were 77.8, 90.1, 158, 108.4 Won/Mcal. Energy saving rate of wood pellet was 16, 50, 39% compared to agricultural tax free diesel, diesel and kerosene respectively.

사업장계 폐목재의 흐름 분석을 통한 처리비용영향 검토 (Assesment of the industrial Wood Waste Disposal Cost through Analysis of the Treatment Flow)

  • 본 연구는 사업장 폐기물 중 폐목재에 대한 발생량, 처리량, 운반경로 및 이산화탄소배출량, 타지역으로의 처리를 위한 운반비용 등의 흐름에 대하여 조사를 하였으며 분석된 결과를 가지고 지역에 적합한 폐목재 처리망에 대하여 검토를 하였다. 폐목재에 흐름에 대한 분석한 결과, 전체 지역 중 일부분은 지역내에서 효율적으로 처리가 이루어질 수 있음에도 불구하고 먼 지역까지 이송되어 처리되는 부적절한 처리 경로를 보이는 것으로 조사 되었다. 폐목재 흐름경로를 최적화 할 수 있는 가장 합리적인 방법은 폐목재 재활용업체들이 분포되어 있는 지역을 중심으로 하여 업체의 집단화 형식으로 조성하여, 폐기물 발생원의 근거리에 있는 재활용업체에서의 우선처리원칙이 필요하며, 필요에 따라 인근 지역의 폐기물을 동시에 처리 할 수 있는 광역처리체계 도입이 타당하다.

영동지역 봄철 소나무림에서 강우후 지표연료 직경별 연료습도변화 예측모델 개발 및 검증 (The model development and verification for surface branch wood fuels moisture prediction after precipitation during spring period at the east coast region)

  • In this study, we developed a fuel moisture variation prediction model on each day after precipitation during a spring forest fire exhibition period. For this research, we selected plots in pine forest on Sam-Chuck si and Dong-hae si in Kangwon do according to a forest density(low, mediate, high) and classified a surface woody fuel by a diameter.(below 0.6cm, $0.6{\sim}3cm$, $3{\sim}6cm$, and above 6cm). A validity of this model was verified by applying a fuel moisture variation after precipitation in this spring. In the result, $R^2$ was $0.76{\sim}0.92$. This model will be a useful for improvement of a forest fire danger rate forcast through a prediction a fule moisture in forest.

  • 가스화복합발전기술은 석탄 또는 중질유 등의 기존 발전연료 뿐만 아니라 잔사유 또는 나무와 같은 다양한 연료를 가스터빈에 사용할 수 있어 차세대 발전방식으로 부각되고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 가스화 복합발전에서 가스화 하여 나온 저열량의 합성가스를 천연가스연료로 설계된 가스터빈에 사용할 때 가스터빈의 성능을 예측하였다. 이를 위해 제한된 설계 데이터로부터 가스터빈의 거동을 예측하는 시스템 적인 방법을 사용하여 발전용 GE 7FA가스터빈에 설계연료인 천연가스와 4가지의 다른 종류의 합성가스를 사용할 때 가스터빈의 설계조건과 탈 설계조건 성능을 예측하였다.

  • Each year, vast amount of agricultural crop residues are produced (about 60 percent of the total crop production), which have not been effectively utilized because they are bulky and lignocellulosic, thus having little fuel energy per unit volume. Using treated plant residues as animal feeds could result in an ultimate saving of fossil fuel energy and a more effective utilizat ion of products created by the photosynthetic process. Feeding the residues to animals would decrease the pollution potential, but these residues are difficult for even a ruminant animal to digest. If cellulosic wastes produced from cereal grain straw and wood could be digested, land now used for producing forage add grain cnuld be shifted to food crops for humans. During the past decade, considerable efforts were made to utilize crop residues. These utilization methods can be broadly grouped into for categories: (1) direct uses, (2) mechanical conversions, (3) chemical conversions and (4) biological conversions. Agricultural crop residues consist mainly of cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, andother plant carbohydrates. The nature of the constituents of these residues can be best utilized as one of the five FS: Fuel, Fiber, Fertilizer, Feed and Food. Many processes have teen proposed and some are in industrial production stage. However, economics of the process depend on the location where availability of other competitive products are different.

High heating value, ash content, etc. of pellets made of agricultural and forest by-products were estimated. Straw of rice was the largest agricultural biomass in 2009 and the total amount of rice straw converted into energy of $299{\times}10^3$ TOE. And in 2009, amount of forest by-product converted into energy of $9,579{\times}10^3$ TOE. High heating values of pellets made of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk were 16,034, 16,026, 16,089, 15,650, $15,044\;kJ{\cdot}kg^{-1}$ respectively. High heating values of pellets made of agricultural by-products were average 83.6% compared to that of wood pellet. Average bulk density of pellets made of stem and seed of rape, stem of oat, rice straw and rice husk was $1,400\;kg{\cdot}m^{-3}$ ($1.4\;g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$). Ash contents of the pellets were 6.6, 7, 6.2, 5.5, 33% respectively. Rice husk pellet produced the largest ash content compared to other kinds of pellets.
