A Study on the Oxidation-reduction Reaction of Organic Thin Films (유기초박막의 산화-환원 반응에 관한 연구)

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films mixed with 4-octyl-4'-(5-carboxylpentamethyleneoxy)azobenzene (denoted as 8A5H) and phospholipid(L-a-dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine, denoted as DMPC and L-a-dilauroylphosphayidylcholine, denoted as DLPC). The LB films of 8A5H, 8A5H-DMPC and 8A5H-DLPC mixture monolayers were deposited by using the LB method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system, an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode at various concentrations(0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mol/L) of $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV and measured to the initial point. The scan rates were 50, 100, 150 and 200 mV/s, respectively. As a result, LB films of 8A5H and 8A5H-DLPC mixture monolayers appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram and LB films of 8A5H-DMPC monolayer mixture was found to be caused by a reversible oxidation-reduction process.

  • Among the micro machining techniques, micro EDM is generally used for machining micro holes, pockets, and micro structures on difficult-cut-materials. Micro EDM parameters such as applied voltage, capacitance, peak current, pulse width, duration time are very important to fabricate the tool electrode and produce the micro structures. Developed micro EDM machine is composed of a 3-axis driving system and RC circuit equipped with pulse generator. In this paper, using micro EDM machine, the characteristics of micro EDM process are investigated and it is applied to micro holes, slots, and pockets machining. Through experiments, relations between machined surface and voltages and between MRR and feedrate are investigated. Also the trends of tool wear are investigated in case of hole and slot machining.

  • We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 10[mN/m]. In processing of a device manufacture, we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Al and Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Au; the number of accumulated layers is 1, 3, 5 and 7. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V]. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. LB film accumulated by monolayer on an ITO. In the cyclicvoltammetry, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode measured in $LiBF_4$ solution, stable up to 0.9V vs. Ag/AgCl.

  • We investigated the electrochemical properties for Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films mixed with l-bromotetradecane(Cl4), l-bromohexadecane(Cl6), and l-bromooctadecane(Cl8). The alkyl bromides mixture was deposited by using the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the ITO glass. The electrochemical properties measured by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) at various concentrations(0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 N) of $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential to -1350 m V, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV. The scan rate was 100 mV/s. As a result, LB films of Cl4, Cl6, and Cl8 mixture monolayers appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The diffusivity(D) effect of LB films decreased with increasing of alkyl bromides amount.

  • In the present study, a numerical analysis on electrohydrodynamics (EHD) of the flow and the collection mechanisms inside a electrostatic precipitator with a spiral spike electrode were investigated. The phenomena of the electrostatic precipitator include complex interactions between the electric field, the fluid flow and the particle motion. To validate the numerical method, the numerical computation for the electric field of a simple wire-pipe type electrostatic system having an analytic solution were performed. Using this numerical method, the electric field of the spiked electrostatic precipitator was simulated. And the fluid flow and the particle motion inside the spiked electrostatic precipitator were numerically analyzed.

  • With development of high advanced technologies and skills, micro machining techniques also are being more functional and smaller. Some of the recently developed micro machining technologies are micro drilling, micro EDM, WEDG, LBM, micro milling, micro UVM etc. In these micro machining techniques, Micro -EDM is generally used for machining micro holes, pockets, and micro structures in difficult-cut-materials. For machining micro structures, first of all, tool electrode should be fabricated by WEDG process. In micro-EDM, parameters such as peak current, pulse width, duration time are very important to fabricate the tool electrode and micro structures. Developed experimental equipments are composed of RLC circuit with PWM. In this paper, using developed micro EDM machine, the characteristics of micro electro discharge machining are investigated at micro holes, slot, and pocket machining etc. Also the trends of tool wear are investigated in case of hole and slot machining.

Influence of Tank Inner Side Dielectric Coating on the Particle Behaviour and Flashover Voltage in SF\ulcorner Gas Insulated System

  • In his work, the influence of wire type conducting particles on the insulation reliability of GIS has been systematically investigated when the epoxy resin based dielectric coating was made on he inner side of outer electrode. For this purpose, coaxial cylinder-type electrode was adopted in 362 kV chamber and various sizes of Cu conducting particle were used under different gas pressures. In order to elucidate the coating effect on the gas insulation, different thickness of dielectric coating has been considered and then the lift-off voltage and flashover voltages have been measured. The results shown that the dielectric coating has a remarkable influence by restraining the movement of particle in GIS system, and thus GIS insulation reliability is noticeably improved.

LB films of polyimide monolayer were deposited by the Langmuir-Blodgett method on the indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. The electrochemical properties measured by cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) at various concentrations(0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 N) of $NaClO_4$ solution. The current of reduction and oxidation range was measured from 1650 mV to -1350 mV, continuously. The scan rates were 50, 100 and 150 mV/s, respectively. As a result, monolayer and multilayer LB films of polyimide are appeared on irreversible process caused by the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram.
