A gasket is known as an important component for mechanical sealing between mating surfaces. In case of the refrigerator, a gasket is generally installed into the edge line of a door to prevent cold air leaking out from the inside of a cabinet. The gasket shape used in a refrigerator is very complicated; it has a few deformable small rooms and wings (upper part) and inserting part (lower part) into the door. By the intricate shape, it takes much time and trouble on analysis by using a full-shape model. To settle down this problem, an effective design way of a gasket is proposed in this work. The inserting part is parametrically designed using FEM without considering the complicate upper part, Through this work, computational time and efforts are much reduced comparing to the full-shape analysis method. And the performance of a newly designed gasket was evaluated qualitatively.
In this paper, experimental results were presented on the moment resistance of a concealed timber post base joint aimed at replacing in a modern design introduced lately the wood to wood joints used in the traditional Korean timber house - Hanok. Preliminary results showed that the original configuration of the joint offers a limited moment resistance and a low ductility and energy dissipation. In an attempt to mitigate those limitations without undergoing major changes in the connector, three new configurations were proposed and investigated. Motivated by the wish to prevent the early failure in welds, a first approach consists in directly bolting the connector's upper plate to lower the stress on the weak welds. Alternatively, another approach focused on increasing the strength of these welds by extending their length to the full width of the metal wings. Finally, a third configuration investigated the effect of those two approaches combined. In conclusion, reinforcing the welds found out to be the best option among the presented ones. As a result, this connector considered to show proper ability for use in earthquake-resistant structures with suited lateral-resistant structural elements.
Symbiotic stars and quasars show strong far UV resonance doublets including O VI 1032 and 1038, which are known to be major coolants of astrophysical plasma with high temperature T > $10^5K$. We investigate the transfer of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ in an emission nebula of temperature T ~ $10^5$, where n=2 population is significant. Line photons of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ are transferred in the medium through spatial and frequency diffusion altering their identity according to the branching ratios. We adopt a Monte Carlo technique to describe the transfer of $H{\alpha}$ and $Ly{\beta}$ in an emission nebula with a uniform density and a simple geometrical figure. We find that the temperature of the emission nebula is the major controlling parameter to produce a nonnegligible flux of $Ly{\beta}$. In particular, when T exceeds $10^5K$ the number flux ratio may reach ~ 25% with line center optical depth of a few. We discuss the formation of broad $H{\alpha}$ wings from Raman scattering of $Ly{\beta}$ emergent from a hot emission nebula.
Dancing along with mankind has existed in various ways form old age to the present. This dancing combined with artistic meaning is called the art of dancing. This study is mainly about the functions decorations and expressions of dancing costume and the claracteristics of the costumes by the 20th century designers Leon bakst Oskar Schlemer Pablo Picasso. The dancing costume were not so much different from those of the public from old age to middle age. In 18th and 19th centuries the length of the cotstumes become short from the knee to the thigh. The functions have much to do with the development of dancing for example the appearance of toeshoes. The costumes are designed not to prevent the movements of dancers smooth line in old age and ladylike vend high-blown line in the 18th and 19th centuries. Cotton and hemp textiles are turning into the transparent forms such as lace and gauge. The personal ornaments earings and necklaces have change into the pattern with wings and tassels. The dancing costumes of Leon Bakst Oskar Schlemer and Pablo Picasso are designed after the due consideration of body shape. Bakst focused on the beauty of smooth lines with splendid colors and decorations. Schlemer analyzed the body abstractly and metaphysically and expressed it with detaile and simple lines. Picasso emphasized cubic forms with cubism and expressed the characteristics of costumes with clear colors and smooth curved line. Bakst Schlemer and Picasso made the early 20th century the age of functional dancing costumes putting a light on the concept of space and foundation for the modern dancing costumes.
The images signifying flight in modern costumes are not made of one characteristic but the combination of complex meanings. Among the distinctive features some of them are as follows. First, the flying styles found in the costumes showed the birds as agents which sent human spirit to the celestial body. By simplifying the images of the wings connecting the present age with the heavenly body, the transforming emotions towards rhythm, direction, and organic curves transcending the real objectively constitutes a new space for expression. Second, colors appeal directly to man's emotions and incites emotional responses. The flying was shown in lines and colors. By using horizontal , vertical, oblique, and spiral lines and contrasted and paralleled colors, man's desire to fly dwells in newly colored space by reflecting speculative emotion through uniting surface. Third, the flying except for the costumes can be found in the advertisement through model's pose and camera technique, the flying itself is described through model's pose, the materials of the costumes, details, and sustaining stuffs. This symbolizes man's wish towards the unknown world vividly and dynamically. As discussed above the spirit of flying was, when expressed distinctively , in accordance with the varying cultural traits and transitions. The shape made by the vitality of symbolizing flying birds and animals along with the flying in the natural aspects such as wind and cloud were reappeared, simplified and symbolized , in modern costumes as consituting a new modeling space.
In this study, the flutter analysis for a rectangular box wing and an actual fighter wing with composite shin, aluminum spar and aluminum rib has been conducted. A conservative 3D wing-box model of an actual wing is modeled by MSC/PATRAN and the corresponding free vibration analysis has been performed by MSC/NASTRAN. The finite elements of membrane, rod and shear panel are used. Using the practical ply angles, various composite laminates are composed and analysed. The DLM code which is linear aerodynamic theory in frequency domain is applied to calculate unsteady aerodynamic pressure in subsonic flow region and the V-g and p-k methods are applied to obtain the solution of aeroelastic governing equation in frequency domain.
Postlarval and juvenile anchovies Engraulis japonicus were collected using a gape net with wings in the coastal waters of Yeosu in July and August 2015, and their gut contents were analyzed. The size range of the postlarvae was 11.0-24.2 mm (notochord length) and that of the juveniles was 25.1-37.4 mm (standard length). Guts were empty in 64.5% of postlarvae and in 51.7% of juveniles. The dominant prey organisms in the guts of both postlarvae and juveniles were copepoda. Calanoida were important prey organisms for postlarvae and were dominated by nauplii of Paracalanus sp. and Calanus sp. as well as unidentified copepod naupill. Calanoida were also important in the diets of juveniles, whose gut contents were dominated by Paracalanus sp. and Cirripedia. Gut compositions were significantly different (P<0.05) among three body size levels in postlarvae and juveniles. As the body size of the postlarvae and juveniles increased, Calanoida constituted a larger proportion of the gut contents, while the proportion of copepod nauplii decreased.
A Study on the Development of Brassiere Pattern for Elderly Women The purpose of this study is to develop functional and sensible brassiere for elderly women. For this purpose, 6 elderly women(aged between 65 and 69) were sampled to be measured for their body sizes and tested for their bressiere wearing. he results were as follows; 1. In order to develop the basic patterns of elderly women's bressieres, 90B size was selected and then, their bressiere fitting was tested. The foundation pattern of the size 90A was proved for the body by the wearing tests. Each angle and length of the parts on the basic line of the breasts played an important role on setting the pattern. 2. As based on the body surface shell extracted from a plastic mold(photo.2), the cup of brassiere pattern were applied to the body surface shell(photo.4), and full side stretch-wings were applied to 13% reduced body size. The design pattern of elderly women's brassiers were characterized by a round wired as well as a full cup(3piece) embracing the entire breasts. 3. As the result of the wearing test, the excellence of the experimental brassiere was recognized objectively, with high marks in all the items(fig. 6). The experimental brassiere was covering the whole breasts to cope with change according to breasts loosing. It was designed to support the breasts firmly.
The purpose of this study is to develop the applied brassiere pattern of women which are fitting for 75A. The constructing of this experimental brassiere were lower cup, upper cup, front panel and U-wing as well as a full cup embcing the entire breasts. Basing on the bra model from domestic experiment results, development of an applied design, round side type pattern, has been suggested. Thus, suggesting the round variation design bra, which is an applied design based on the basic model based on the breast volume. Based on the sizes that are in reference to Size Korea (2004) and related previous researches, the basic model that has been experimented with 11.4% polyurethane and 88.6% Nylon as the materials, has been selected as the model of research. This takes 75A, the size of which is set according to the underbust circumference and the breasts circumference, as the basic model. It is an application in terms of design, and there is no change to the cup volume or size because it has been moved only from the cutting line. The applied design changes the right side of the lower cup into an easily-movable form and attaches it to the upper cup, and the lower cup takes the right part of the upper cup to form a cup shape of round variation design. It also changes basic straight form of the wings, and alters them into U-shape.
The purpose of this study was to develops of brassiere pattern for middle school students (15 ages ${\mp}$ 3). In order to design a brassiere pattern, the body surface shell was used as the basic pattern. The foundation pattern and the four-piece brassiere pattern with wire were designed and sewed. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. The foundation pattern of the size 75A was proved proper for the body by the wearing tests. Each angle and length of the parts on the base line of the breasts played an important role on setting the pattern. 2. As based on the body surface shell extracted from a plaster mold, the cups of brassiere pattern were applied to the body surface shell, and full side stretch -wings were applied to 8% reduced body size. 3. As the result of the wearing test, the excellence of the experimental brassiere was recognized objectively, with high marks in all the items of clothing compensation, body motion, clothing pressure and breasts growth. The experimental brassiere was covering the whole breasts to cope with change according to breasts growth, It was designed to support the breasts firmly, not to press the middle part of them. Simultaneously, this has the advantages that satisfy a characteristic of a figure and the purpose of putting it on.
