This study performs the dynamic modeling and the simulation of variable speed wind power system and implements the models of wind speed, wind turbine & PMSG, and MPPT & pitch control as well. The simulation of wind turbine was performed by using the power coefficient and other simulation parameters which were extracted with reference to the commercial 5MW class wind turbine data. As the result of this simulation, MPPT control is confirmed, maintaining the maximum power coefficient as far as the rated speed 12[m/s]. Over 12[m/s] wind speed, this wind power system makes it possible to keep the stable output by controlling the pitch angle.
Wind power generation system is one of the most useful energy resource using natural environment. One of the biggest problem we encountered is toot the wind speed is fluctuating sharply according to the weather conditions rather than it is stable. In this paper we do the equivalent modeling the mechanical energy of wind power turbine according to wind speed into the synchronous generator. We analyse the equivalent modeling output part of rectifier into DC/DC converter input part theoretically. We analyse a battery charging characteristics for power storage enabling the supply of stable power to the load. We design a system and do the modeling of it analytically so that it supplies a stable power to the load by constructing a DC-AC inverter point. Also we make a small size model usable in actual wind power generation system of 30kw and make an experiment and confirm its validity.
In this study, we have introduced an improved equivalent modeling technique for large scale composite wind-turbine blade. Conventional or general equivalent modeling procedure may give critical error in the analysis results because of geometric coupling effects. For the analyses of structural vibration and aeroelastic problems, the accuracy of equivalent structural models is very important since it can have high numerical efficiency and various practical applications. Three-dimensional realistic composite wind-turbine blade model is practically considered for numerical study. In order to validate the effect of the mass and the stiffness of the equivalent beam model, comparison study based on the natural vibration analysis has been conducted, and the accuracy levels of the conventional and modified equivalent modeling techniques are presented.

The growing complexity of modern technological systems requires more flexible and powerful reliability analysis tools. Existing tools encounter a number of limitations including lack of modeling power to address components interactions for complex systems and lack of flexibility in handling component failure distribution. We propose a reliability modeling framework based on the Bayesian network (BN). It can combine historical data with expert judgment to treat data scarcity. The proposed methodology is applied to wind turbines reliability analysis. The observed result shows that a BN based reliability modeling is a powerful potential solution to modeling and analyzing various kinds of system components behaviors and interactions. Moreover, BN provides performing several inference approaches such as smoothing, filtering, what-if analysis, and sensitivity analysis for considering system.

This paper deals with the dynamic analysis of variable speed wind power systems with doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG). First, the mathematical modeling of wind farm which consists of turbine rotor, DFIG, rotor side and grid side converter and control systems is presented. In particular, the equation for dynamic modeling of the DFIG and the AC/DC/AC converter is expressed as dq reference frame. And then, on the basis of mathematical modeling for each component of wind farm, dynamic simulation algorithms for speed and pitch angle control of wind turbine and generated active and reactive power control of the DFIG and the AC/DC/AC converter are established. Finally, Using the MATLAB/SIMULINK, this paper presents dynamic simulation model for 6MW wind power generation systems with the DFIG considering distribution systems and performs the dynamic analysis of wind power systems in steady state. Moreover, this paper also presents the dynamic performance for the case when the voltage sag in grid source and phase fault in bus are occurred.

This paper discusses some features and conditions that characterize the Zonda wind, focusing particularly on the implications for wind engineering applications. This kind of wind, typical of mountainous regions, is far from being adequately characterized for computational simulations and proper modeling in experimental facilities such as boundary layer wind tunnels. The objective of this article is to report the research works that are being developed on this kind of wind, describing the main obtained results, and also to establish some general guidelines for the proper analysis of the Zonda in the wind engineering context. A classification for the Zonda wind is indicated and different cases of structural and environmental effects are described. Available meteorological data is analyzed from the wind engineering point of view to obtain the Zonda wind gust factors, as well as basic wind speeds relevant for structural design. Some considerations and possible directions for the Zonda wind-tunnel and computational modeling are provided. Gust factor values larger than those used for open terrain were obtained, nevertheless, the basic wind speed values obtained are similar to values presented by the Argentinian Wind Code for three-second gust, principally at Mendoza airport.
In this paper, the virtual power grid of Jeju in 2020 is modelled including not only VSC HVDC(Voltage Source Current-High Voltage Direct Current) but also wind power generators as 200MW for onshore and 500MW for offshore by PSCAD/EMTDC. Each active power and reactive power are able to controlled by the VSC HVDC. In addition, to verify the characteristic of the modeling VSC HVDC, those wind power generators are cut off from the grid. The result show that the modeling power grid of Jeju become stabilized after 0.1second from failure.
This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a utility-connected wind energy conversion system with a link of a rectifier and an inverter. It discusses the maximum power control algorithm for the wind turbine and presents the relationship of wind turbine output, rotor speed, power coefficient, tip-speed ratio and wind speed when the wind turbine is operated under the maximum power control algorithm. The control objective is to extract maximum power from wind and transfer the power to the utility. This is achieved by controlling the pitch angle of the wind turbine blades. Pitch control method is mechanically complicated, but the control performance is better than that of the stall regulation method. The simulation results performed on MATLAB will show the variation of generator's rotor speed, pitch angle, and generator output.
An evaluation and comparison of seven of the world's major building codes and standards is conducted in this study, with specific discussion of their estimations of the alongwind, acrosswind, and torsional response, where applicable, for a given building. The codes and standards highlighted by this study are those of the United States, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, China and Europe. In addition, the responses predicted by using the measured power spectra of the alongwind, acrosswind and torsional responses for several building shapes tested in a wind tunnel are presented and a comparison between the response predicted by wind tunnel data and that estimated by some of the standards is conducted. This study serves not only as a comparison of the response estimates by international codes and standards, but also introduces a new set of wind tunnel data for validation of wind tunnel-based empirical expressions.
The suitability of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations on the built environment for the purpose of estimating average roughness characteristics and for studying wind flow patterns within the environment is assessed. Urban models of various levels of complexity are considered including an empty domain, array of obstacles arranged in regular and staggered manners, in-homogeneous roughness with multiple patches, a semi-idealized built environment, and finally a real built environment. For each of the test cases, we conducted CFD simulations using RANS turbulence closure and validated the results against appropriate methods: existing empirical formulas for the homogeneous roughness case, empirical wind speed models for the in-homogeneous roughness case, and wind tunnel tests for the semi-idealized built environment case. In general, results obtained from the CFD simulations show good agreement with the corresponding validation methods, thereby, giving further evidence to the suitability of CFD simulations for built environment studies consisting of wide-ranging roughness. This work also provides a comprehensive overview of roughness modeling in CFD-from the simplest approach of modeling roughness implicitly through wall functions to the most elaborate approach of modeling roughness explicitly for the sake of accurate wind flow simulations within the built environment.
