제주도 일단위 풍력발전예보 모형개발을 위한 군집분석 및 기상통계모형 실험 (Cluster Analysis and Meteor-Statistical Model Test to Develop a Daily Forecasting Model for Jejudo Wind Power Generation)

  • Three meteor-statistical forecasting models - the transfer function model, the time-series autoregressive model and the neural networks model - were tested to develop a daily forecasting model for Jejudo, where the need and demand for wind power forecasting has increased. All the meteorological observation sites in Jejudo have been classified into 6 groups using a cluster analysis. Four pairs of observation sites among them, all having strong wind speed correlation within the same meteorological group, were chosen for a model test. In the development of the wind speed forecasting model for Jejudo, it was confirmed that not only the use a wind dataset at the objective site itself, but the introduction of another wind dataset at the nearest site having a strong wind speed correlation within the same group, would enhance the goodness to fit of the forecasting. A transfer function model and a neural network model were also confirmed to offer reliable predictions, with the similar goodness to fit level.

소형 풍력발전 적용 풍력자원조사를 위한 데이터로거 개발 (A Development of Dedicated Data Logger for Wind Resource of Small Wind Power Generator)

  • To install a wind power generator, the survey on the wind environment resources must be conducted in advance. The survey on the wind environment resources is to collect and analyze data regarding the wind speed and direction on a data logger. The data logger consists of a sensor, signal processing circuit and storage device. According to the analysis of the stored data, the amount of power generation by the types of generators can be predicted and the most optimal generator including safety grade can be selected, and in case of installing a generator in the future, it can be utilized as basic data regarding supporting base and foundation construction method of survey points. Data logger was developed for a small wind power generator that is suitable for the international standard(IEC 61400) by using DSP-F28335 micro controller in this paper. It was developed to measure the wind speed of 1 [m/s]~17 [m/s], the wind direction of 0 [$^{\circ}$]~359 [$^{\circ}$], and temperature of -30 [$^{\circ}C$]~50 [$^{\circ}C$], and the comparative experiment with other companies' data loggers was conducted, and an error was measured to be less than ${\pm}0.1$ [m/s] for wind speed and less than +1 [$^{\circ}$] for wind direction.

  • 최근 화석연료의 고갈 및 환경문제로 인해 신재생 에너지에 대한 관심이 해마다 증가하고 있다. 신재생에너지는 깨끗하고 재사용이 가능한 에너지원으로 풍력과 태양광을 이용한 방법이 대표적이다. 이들 중 풍력 발전시스템은 자연의 바람을 이용하여 바람의 운동에너지를 전기에너지로 변환하는 방식이다. 기존에는 풍력 발전시스템을 구현하여 풍동실험을 하기 위해 실제 풍력과 유사한 환경을 구성하여 풍동실험을 하였다. 하지만, 이러한 풍동실험을 구성하기에는 비용이 커지는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 풍동실험을 모터와 발전기를 이용한 테스트 베드를 구성하여 실험할 때 실제 풍동실험에서 발전기의 특성을 고려하여 모터를 제어함으로서 풍동실험과 유사한 결과를 얻고자한다.

Near-ground wind and its characterization for engineering applications

  • This report presents the findings of a one-year monitoring effort to empirically characterize and evaluate the nature of near-ground winds for structural engineering purposes. The current wind engineering practice in the United States does not explicitly consider certain important near-ground wind characteristics in typical rough terrain conditions and the possible effect on efficient design of low-rise structures, such as homes and other light-frame buildings that comprise most of the building population. Therefore, near ground wind data was collected for the purpose of comparing actual near-ground wind characteristics to the current U.S. wind engineering practice. The study provides data depicting variability of wind speeds, wind velocity profiles for a major thunderstorm event and a northeaster, and the influence of thunderstorms on annual extreme wind speeds at various heights above ground in a typical rough environment. Data showing the decrease in the power law exponent with increasing wind speed is also presented. It is demonstrated that near-ground wind speeds (i.e., less than 10 m above ground) are likely to be over-estimated in the current design practice by as much as 20 percent which may result in wind load over-estimate of about 50% for low-rise buildings in typical rough terrain. The importance of thunderstorm wind profiles on determination of design wind speeds and building loads (particularly for buildings substantially taller than 10 m) is also discussed. Recommendations are given for possible improvements to the current design practice in the United States with respect to low-rise buildings in rough terrain and for the need to study the impact of thunderstorm gust profile shapes on extreme value wind speed estimates and building loads.

압전 재료를 이용한 나무형 풍력 발전 시스템 개발 (Development of a Tree-shaped Wind Power System Using Piezo-electric Materials)

  • This paper reports an experimental investigation to design a tree-shaped wind power system using piezo-electric materials. The proposed system is to produce power if wind is strong enough to produce any bending motions in the energy converting elements, i.e., piezo-electric materials. Two different kinds of piezoelectric materials are used in the present study to produce power by scavenging energy from the wind. The soft flexible one made the leaf element while the hard one was applied to the trunk portion of the tree requiring rather strong winds to generate any power. Although small, each leaf deems to play the role of a power producer and currents are continuously trickling down to the storage battery installed at the bottom of the system.

지하철 터널내 열차풍 예측 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of the Train Wind Rate Prediction Program in Tunnel of the Subway)

  • Subway is one of the most important transportation and its facilities are increased by the drift of population to cities in these days. But heat generation results from lighting, human and traffic increase in subway, half-closed space, gives uncomfortable sense to the subway passengers. Therefore, natural ventilation by piston effect is done to relieve uncomfortable sense. But train wind by piston effect gives uncomfortable sense to the subway passengers, too. So the numerical calculation of inflow and outflow amounts is important to predict thermal environment and reduce train wind. In case of actual survey of train wind in target station, the amount of train wind are about $3100m^3/train$ at the minimum, about $6000m^3/train$ at the maximum, about $4200m^3/train$ on average. When comparison between simulation for train wind prediction and actual survey for accuracy was done train wind prediction program showed similar results.

New Design for Jacket-type Offshore Wind Turbine Support Structure for Southwest Coast of South Korea

  • The Korea Offshore Wind Power (KWOP) cooperation is planning to construct offshore wind energy farms with an overall rated power of 2.5 GW along the southwestern coast by 2019. Hitherto, various structural types of support structures for offshore wind turbines have been being proposed, but these structures have lacked economic analysis studies. Therefore, their economical superiority to existing types has been difficult to guarantee. An offshore structure with economic efficiency will have a minimum amount of mobilizing equipment and short offshore construction period because of the application of rapid installation methods. Thus, the development of a new support structure with economic efficiency is generally considered to be necessary. Accordingly, this paper proposes a newly developed and more economical jacket type for the offshore support structure. This study confirmed its structural safety and performance by conducting a structural analysis and eigenvalue analysis. The manufacturing and installation costs were then estimated. As a result, the new jacket type of offshore support structure proposed in this study significantly reduced the manufacturing and installation costs. Therefore, it is expected that the proposed jacket will contribute to reducing construction expenses for new wind power farms and invigorating wind power farm businesses.

  • The developments of the solar and the wind power energy are neccessary since the future alternative energies that have no pollution and no limitation are restricted. Currently power generation system of existing problems, combined generation system of photovoltaic(400W) and wind power generation system(400W) was suggested. It combines wind power and solar energy to have the supporting effect from each other. However, weather condition, power compensation device that uses elastic energy of spiral spring to combined generation system was also added for the present study. In an experiment, when output of system gets lower than 12V(charging voltage), power was continuously supplied to load through the inverter by charging energy obtained from generating rotary energy of spiral spring operates in small scale generator.

  • A wind power system with squirrel-cage induction generator has irregular change of output power according to the sudden change of wind speed. This paper describes the development of a active and reactive power compensator, which is composed of a 3-phase inverter and a bidirectional DC/DC converter with super-capacitor. The operational characteristic was analyzed through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC and experimental works with a scaled model. The developed system can continuously compensate the active power change with energy storage and the reactive power change with 3-phase inverter.
