This paper introduces a radio-wave interference assessment of wind turbines that were planned to be installed at Homi-Cape in Pohang region where wind resource has been evaluated worthwhile developing a wind farm. In that area, AM radio station with two antennas and a harbor radar facility are located so that radio-wave coupling is inevitable if the wind farm is designed without considering radio-wave environmental impact. A low-frequency analysis using MoM (Method of Moment) is used to examine interference effect caused by wind turbines and an optimal layout minimizes coupling effect is presented.
Any investment analysis has to deal with the uncertainty that arises over the course of operating the invested project. When it comes to an wind power, such analysis gets even more complicated, as the wind resource or the current is inherently unstable and unpredictable. Different from predecessors in the field of analyzing wind power economics, this paper proposes a stochastic methodology of analyzing the economic efficiency of an investment in wind power to explicitly address those uncertainties or risks. A probability distribution is assigned to each variable to generate a probability distribution of the economic value of an investment through a Monte-Carlo simulation
The exploitation of the resource wind energy is a rapidly growing area world-wide. The number of installed units is continuously increasing, and therefore, it is important to respect and to deal with the impact of wind power generation system. From the view of an electric grid utility, there is a major problem with the impact of the wind system on the voltage of the electric grid, to which a turbine in connected. The problem is rather common in the connection of a wind power system to an already existing grid, since the grid is very seldom designed for the transmission of additional power. In this paper, it is investigated the voltage impact of distribution line, to which wind power generation system is connected.
In this paper, an economic feasibility study of wind-diesel hybrid power systems for an island in the Yellow Sea, where the maximum power generation is about 500kW, was performed. For the study, annual electric load variation and wind resource data of the island were collected and analyzed. HOMER program - a typical hybrid optimization model for electric renewables including wind resource, developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory - was used. Wind speed and diesel price were picked out as variables for the sensitivity analysis in order to find the economic accountability for the wind-diesel hybrid power system. As the result, even though it is not feasible economically under the present condition, if mean wind speed is over 3 m/sec. or diesel price goes up to 2.4 $ per liter, the wind-diesel hybrid power system for the island becomes a prospective candidate.

Wind power is one of the most efficient and reliable energy sources in the transition to a low-carbon society. In particular, offshore wind power provides a high-quality and stable wind resource compared to onshore wind power while both present a higher installed capacity than other renewables. In this paper, we present our new program, the X-WIND program well suitable for the assessment of the substructure of offshore wind turbines. We have developed this program to increase the usability of analysis programs for offshore wind energy substructures by addressing the shortcomings of existing programs. Unlike the existing programs which cannot solely perform the substructure analyses or lack pre-post processors, our X-WIND program can complete the assessment analysis for the offshore wind turbines alone. The X-WIND program is embedded in AutoCAD so that both design and analysis are performed on a single platform. This also performs static and dynamic analysis for wind, wave, and current loads, essential for offshore wind power structures, and includes pre/post processors for designs, mesh developments, graph plotting, and code checking. With this expertise, our program enhances the usability of analysis programs for offshore wind energy substructures, promoting convenience and efficiency.
In this paper, a very new web-based software for renewable energy system (RES) design and economic evaluation was introduced. This solution would provide the precise RES estimation service including not only photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT) and fuel cell (FC) individually but also energy storage system (ESS) as combined forms with PV or WT. The three reasons why we ought to develop it are: First, the standardized tool suitable to the domestic environment for estimating power generation from RES facilities and economic evaluation is required. Secondly, the standardized tool is needed to spread domestic RES supply policy and to promote the new industry in the micro-grid field. The last, the reliability of economic evaluation should be enhanced more for new facilities. To achieve those aims, the weather database of one hundred locations have established and the RES facility database has also constructed. For the energy management, mathematical models for PV, WT, ESS and FC were developed. As a final phase, the analytical process to evaluate economics has performed with field data verification.

We need measures that can come up with alternative about fishery living zone and enhance local acceptance for responding to the increase in the proportion of renewable energy production and construction of 12GW Offshore wind power according to Korea's Renewable Energy 3020 initiative and Korean-version New Deal. In this study, We suggest that differentiation plans of co-location model in connection with offshore wind power generation suitable for the East Sea. The East Sea is an optimal site for building of a floating offshore wind power generation(FOWPG) field. It is expected that economic effects like energy production, aquatic resource development and tourism industrialization by farming bluefin tuna which is high valued fish and suitable for offshore aquaculture on public waters in FOWPG field. And we can confirm that budget reduction, smart management by sharing operation management technology and increase in fishermen income.

This paper presents an optimal operation of microgrid systems and considering a tie-lines capacities that concerned each grid. The microgrid system consists of a wind turbine, a diesel generator, and a fuel cell. An one day load profile and wind resource for wind turbine generator were used for the study. For the grid interconnection, tie-line capacities were applied as constraints. The capacity constraints of tie-lines in production cost analysis are very important issues in the operation and planning of microgrid. In optimization, the Harmony Search (HS) algorithm is used for solving the problem of microgrid system operation which a various generation resources are available to meet the customer load demand with minimum operating cost. The application of HS algorithm to optimal operation of microgrid proves its effectiveness to determine optimally the generating resources without any differences of load mismatch.

In this paper, to integrate distributed IT resources and manage human resource efficiently as purpose of cost reduction, infrastructure of wind turbine monitoring system have been designed and developed on the basis of SaaS cloud. This infrastructure hierarchize data according to related task and services. Softwares to monitor conditions via the infrastructure are also developed. Softwares are made up of DB design, field measurement, data transmission and monitoring programs. The infrastructure is able to monitor conditions from SCADA data and additional sensors. Total time delay from field measurement to monitoring is defined by modeling of step-wise time delay in condition monitoring algorithms. Since vibration data are acquired by measurements of high resolution, the delay is unavoidable and it is essential information for application of O&M program. Monitoring target is gearbox in wind turbine of MW-class and it is operating for 10 years, which means that accurate monitoring is essential for its efficient O&M in the future. The infrastructure is in operation to deal with the gearbox conditions with high resolution of 50 TB data capacity, annually.
In recent years, floating offshore wind turbines have attracted more attention as a new renewable energy resource while bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines reach their limit of water depth. Various projects have been proposed with the rapid increase in installed floating wind power capacity, but the economic aspect remains as a biggest issue. To figure out sensible approaches for saving costs, a comparison analysis of the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) between floating and bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines was carried out. The LCOE was reviewed from a social perspective and a cost breakdown and a literature review analysis were used to itemize the costs into its various components in each level of power plant and system integration. The results show that the highest proportion in capital expenditure of a floating offshore wind turbine results in the substructure part, which is the main difference from a bottom-fixed wind turbine. A floating offshore wind turbine was found to have several advantages over a bottom-fixed wind turbine. Although a similarity in operation and maintenance cost structure is revealed, a floating wind turbine still has the benefit of being able to be maintained at a seaport. After emphasizing the cost-reduction advantages of a floating wind turbine, its LCOE outlook is provided to give a brief overview in the following years. Finally, some estimated cost drivers, such as economics of scale, wind turbine rating, a floater with mooring system, and grid connection cost, are outlined as proposals for floating wind LCOE reduction.
