  • In this paper, a new design for a Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) fed wide-band slot antenna is presented. To enhance the impedance bandwidth of the slot antenna, we proposed the tapering slot structure. A various resonance modes are generated in the tapering slot. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 12:1 ($2.0GHz{\sim}24.3GHz$) with $VSWR{\le}2$. Simulation results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.

A various resonance modes are generated in the tapering slot. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is about 13:1(2.0 GHz∼25.9 GHz) with VSWR$\leq$2. Simulation and measurement results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented.

  • In this paper, we have studied the dependence of insertion loss of the pressed microstrip PBG ring consisting of coupled two microstrip lines. When the distance decreases, two or three attenuation poles are created by the coupling between the lines. Thus the pressed PBG ring exhibits a wide stop band and sharp cutoff characteristics.

  • This paper applies a compressed algorithm to improve the spectrum sensing performance of cognitive radio technology. At the fusion center, the recovery error in the analog to information converter (AIC) when reconstructing the transmit signal from the received time-discrete signal causes degradation of the detection performance. Therefore, we propose a subspace pursuit (SP) algorithm to reduce the recovery error and thereby enhance the detection performance. In this study, we employ a wide-band, low SNR, distributed compressed sensing regime to analyze and evaluate the proposed approach. Simulations are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of pulse position modulation-time hopping ultra wide band (PPM-TH UWB) systems with antenna diversity technique in indoor wireless channel. A modified Saleh and Valenzuela (SV) model is adopted as a UWB indoor channel model. Perfect synchronization between a transmitter and a receiver is assumed. Therefore, coherent equal gain combining (EGC) scheme to collect the energy available in the multipath components is investigated. It is shown that the performance is improved by increasing the number of antennas at the receiver. The results of this paper can be applied to the applications of UWB.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of ultra wide band (UWB) systems in indoor wireless channel in accordance with the number of pulses per bit at transmit signals and the decision types of receiver. The indoor channel is modeled as the modified Saleh and Valenzuela (SV) model which has been proposed as a UWB channel model by the IEEE group, IEEE 802.15.SG3a. Two types of UWB signals are considered One is the pulse position modulation-time hopping (PPM-TH) signal. And the other is the pulse amplitude modulation-direct sequence (PAM-DS) signal. It is assumed that the receiver is an ideal receiver which can receive all signals of the multipath.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for artificial bandwidth extension of narrow-band signal in frequency domain. In the proposed method, a narrow-band signal is decomposed into excitation signal and spectral envelope, which are extended independently in frequency domain. The excitation signal is extended such that low-band harmonic structure is maintained in high band, and the spectral envelope is extended based on sub-band energy using NMF. Finally, the spectral phase is determined based on signal correlation between frames in time domain, resulting in the final wide-band signal. The subjective evaluation verified that the wide-band signal generated by the proposed method has a higher quality than the original narrow-band signal.

  • In this paper, a wide-band monopole antenna for use in PCS/WDCMA/Wivro/S-DMB(1.750${\sim}$2.655 GHz) band is presented. The presented antenna is a trapezoidal monopole antenna which has back-side patch and improves the bandwidth. To confirm the wide-band characteristics and radiation pattern of presented antenna, the experimental antenna is fabricated and its radiation characteristics are measured, compared with calculated results. It is shown that the designed antenna has VSWR less than 1.5, gain over 2 dBi in 1.73${\sim}$3.48 GHz. The measured results show good agreement with calculated results. From the result, we confirm that the designed antenna can be used indoor antenna for PCS/WCDMA/WiBro/S-DMB.

  • In this paper, we analyze the main performance of satellite's Synthetic Aperture Radar system for high resolution and wide swath. We have used the radiation pattern of reflector antenna with array feed and comparison between the conventional ScanSAR mode and SweepSAR mode has been carried out. The SweepSAR mode is a high-resolution wide-swath mode that transmits beams over a wide range and receives echo signals through sequential beamforming based on SCORE(SCan On REceive). In this paper, we analyzed the operating principle and characteristics of satellite's SweepSAR mode and simulate system performances. In addition, in order to increase the utilization of image, performances analysis for multiple frequency bands(C-band, X-band) has been considered.
