  • WiBro(Wireless Broadband), the service based on IEEE 802.16e(mobile WiMAX) standard, is a wireless broadband Internet technology being developed by the domestic telecommunication industry. In this paper, we analyze security vulnerabilities of WiBro focusing on initial authentication phase and propose a specification-based intrusion detection system that can detect those vulnerabilities. We first derive a specification from the normally operational process of the initial authentication based on PKMv2 EAP-AKA and formalize the derived specification as a state transition diagram. Proposed system executes the intrusion detection based on those specification and state transition diagram. In this paper, to verify the detection capability of proposed system, we construct a test bed network and execute scenario-based test.

  • Diversity antenna system against multi-fading environment is strongly required for WiBro service of vehicle. In general, high isolation performance between antennas leads to good diversity gain. In this paper, a polarization diversity antenna is presented, which has orthogonal polarizations and good isolation characteristic. In addition, by simulation and measurement, it is certified that HWLLA (Half Wave Length Loaded Antenna) improves polarization purity on common ground. In isolation between two antennas, HWLLA can provide better isolation over 12dB than conventional PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna).

  • For measuring quad-band module system using WiBro network, frequency converter was developed. The size of the fabricated frequency converter is $3.1cm{\times}3.1cm{\times}0.4cm$. Noise figure of the receiver part of the frequency converter was 2.62 ~ 3.45 dB, EVM of that is -37.5 dB ~ -34.5 dB. And EVM of the transmission part was -42.5 ~ -35.5 dB. Quad-band module was fabricated with the developed frequency converter. Testing the quad-band module in 2.3 GHz WiBro network results the excellent internet connection for 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz band.

  • In the present study, A protocol gateway between agent is designed by using an optimized protocol for the exchange of ISO / IEEE 11073-20601 in order to compensate the disadvantage of the existing gateway and a international standard healthcare set-top. The gate way was designed to smooth data transmission to overcoming the geographical limits of the service and to enable data transfer on emergency vehicle and the mountain area.

  • This paper proposes a mobile SCTP (mSCTP) handover scheme for vertical handover between 3G wireless and WiBro networks. To evaluate the proposed mSCTP vertical handover scheme, we implement the mSCTP handover supporting system over Linux platform in which the movement of a mobile node is automatically detected and the mSCTP vertical handover is performed by the mobile node. We analyze and compare the performance of mSCTP handover and Mobile IP handover over the preconfigured testbed. From the numerical results, we can see that the handover latency of mSCTP could be much more reduced, compared to the Mobile IP handover, if the mobile node would sojourn long enough in the overlapping region between the two heterogeneous networks.

  • In this paper, we consider to obtain the criteria for maximal power of interfering transmitter according to distance between WiBro and WLAN in TVWS. We analyze this criteria as a parameter for co-use when hetero systems share the same frequency channels. In order to make an analysis of relationship between distance and power of two systems, we take into consideration on two cases. First, WiBro is an interfering transmitter and WLAN is a victim receiver. Second, WLAN is an interfering transmitter and WiBro is a victim receiver. Analyzed coexistence results under various co-use scenarios may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.

  • Satellite WiBro system has high PAPR characteristics in addition to the nonlinear characteristics of the power amplifier. These characteristics reduce amplifying efficiency of the power amplifier and also cause high error rate and interference with adjacent channels. This paper proposed satellite WiBro based system to reduce input signal's IBO of TWTA remarkably by adapting simultaneously PAPR reduction techniques, active-constellation extension technique and pre-distortion technique.

  • When new services are introduced, interaction among existing and new services has to be considered. The interaction can be characterized by the substitution or complementary effect among services. This paper analyzes how the interaction among services affects the customers' subscription decision in telecommunication services industry. Based on a face-to-face in-depth survey from a sample of 1,200 respondents, a new wireless internet access service or WiBro is analyzed to identify the substitution/complementary effect in relation to the existing other telecommunication services. Additionally, the important factors explaining both customers' subscription and substitution decisions are identified. The analysis results indicate that males and students are more likely to subscribe WIBro service. Interestingly, family size positively affects the subscription decision. However, heavy users of on-line game are reluctant to subscribe WiBro service. Among the potential WiBro subscribers, the customers who are less satisfied with the existing fixed line broadband internet access service are more likely to stop subscribing the fixed line service, which implies substitution by a new service. We believe that the consideration of the interactions among services is essential to devise a winning strategy for the new services in the highly uncertain telecommunications business environment.
