  • We have demonstrated that TPyPA can be used as an efficient multi-functional material for OLEDs; hole transporting material (HTL), blue and white-light emitter. The device based on TPyPA as the HTL exhibited an external quantum efficiency of 1.7% and a luminance efficiency of 4.2 cd/A; these values are 40% higher than the external quantum efficiency and luminance efficiency of the NPD-based reference device. The device based on TPyPA as a blue-light emitter exhibited an external quantum efficiency of 4.2% and a luminance efficiency of 5.3 $cdA^{-1}$ with CIE coordinates at (0.16, 0.14), the device based on TPyPA as a white-light emitter exhibited an external quantum efficiency of 3.2% and a luminance efficiency of 7.7 $cdA^{-1}$ with CIE coordinates at (0.33, 0.39). Also, TPyPA-based organic solar cell (OSC) exhibited a maximum power conversion efficiency of 0.35%. TPyPA-based organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) exhibited highly efficient field-effect mobility (${\mu}_{FET}$) of $1.7{\times}10^{-4}cm^2V^{-1}s^{-1}$, a threshold voltage ($V_{th}$) of -15.9 V, and an on/off current ratio of $8.6{\times}10^3$.

  • We has been synthesized $(POB)_{2}Ir(pic)$ as a red emitting materials and evaluated in the organic light emitting diodes (OLED). The layer of $Alq_3$ doped with $(POB)_{2}Ir(pic)$ as emitters has been demonstrated. The structure of the device is ITO/ NPB (40 nm) / $Zn(HPB)_2$ (40 nm)/ $Alq_3$ : $(POB)_{2}Ir(pic)$ (30 nm) / LiF / Al. We varied the doped rate of $(POB)_{2}Ir(pic)$. The doped rate is 0.4 %, 0.6%, 0.8 and 1.2%, respectively. When the doped rate of the $Alq_3$:$ Ir(POB)_{2}(pic)$ was 0.6%, white emission is achieved. The Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the white emission are (0.316, 0.331) at an applied voltage of 10.75V.

  • Polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs) with ITO/EDOT:PSS/PVK/PFO-poss/LiF/Al structures were prepared by the spin coating method on ITO(indium tin oxide)/glass substrates. PFO-poss[Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl) end capped with poss] was used as light emitting polymer. PVK[poly(N-vinyl carbazole)] and PEDOT:PSS [poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfolnate)] polymers were used as the hole injection and transport materials. The effect of PFO-poss concentration and the heating temperatures on the electrical and optical properties of the devices were investigated. At the same concentration of PFO-poss solution, the current density and luminance of PLED device tend to increase as the annealing temperature increase from $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$. The maximum luminance was found to be about 958 cd/m2 at 13V for the PLED device with 1.0 wt% PFO-poss at the annealing temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. In addition, the PLED device showed bluish white emission through the strong greenish peak with 523 nm in wavelength. As the concentration of PFO-poss increase from 0.5 wt% to 1.0 wt% and temperature of PLEDs increase from $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$, the emission color tend to be shifted from blue with (x, y) = (0.17,0.14) to bluish white with (x, y) : (0.29,0.41) in CIE color coordinate.

  • Organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) have received considerable attention since they were first reported by Tang. Novel organic fluorescent materials have been reported on synthesis and application of new organic light-emitting materials. Despite of much recent progress, fabrication of full-color OLEDs still remained to be done. Many method have been proposed to full-color OLEDs displays such as using separated red, green and blue emitters, stacking separate rad, green and blue emitter, using a white emitter with individually pattered color filters, microcavity structures and using a blue emitter with individually patterned fluorescent materials. The last method has much attention because of easy fabrication of OLEDs and low-priced fabrication. This paper reports the optical and electrical characteristics of OLEDs using novel molecules containing biphenyl structure. Optical properties of biphenyl derivatives doped with poly(9-vinyl carbazole)(PVK) are measured and found Forster energy transfer process in the blends. And devices were fabricated as ITO/PEDOT/PVK doped with biphenyl derivatives/$Alq_3$/Li:Al and I-V-L characteristics and EL efficiency of devices were examined.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop smart bags that combining fashion-specific trends and smart information technologies such as light-emitting diodes(LED) and optic fibers by grafting marquage techniques that have recently become popular as part of eco-fashion. We applied e-textiles by designing leather tote bags that could show off LED luminescence. A total of two tote bags, a white-colored peacock design and a black-colored paisley design, divided the LED's light-emitting method into two types, incremental lighting and random light-emission to suit each design, and the locations of the optical fibers were also reversed depending upon the design. The production of circuits for the LEDs and optical fibers was based on the design, and a flexible conductive fabric was laser-cut instead of wire line and attached to the circuit-line location. A separate connector was underwent three-dimensional(3D)-modeling and was connected to high-luminosity LEDs and optic fiber bundles. The optical fiber logo part expressed a subtle image using a white-colored LED, which did not offset the LED's sharp luminous effects, suggesting that using LEDs with fiber optics allowed for the expression of each in harmony without being heterogeneous. Overall, the LEDs and fiber optic fabric were well-harmonized in the fashion bag using marquage techniques, and there was no sense of it being a mechanical device. Also, the circuit part was made of conductive fabric, which is an e-textile product that feels the same as a thin, flexible fabric. The study confirmed that the bag was developed as a smart wearable product that could be used in everyday life.

  • In order to investigate the emission characteristics of the phosphorescent white organic light-emitting diodes (PHWOLEDs) according to various hole transport layers (HTLs), PHWOLEDs composed of HTLs whose structure are NPB/TCTA, NPB/mCP and NPB/TCTA/mCP, two emissive layers (EMLs) which emit two-wavelengths of light (blue and red), and electron transport layer were fabricated. The applied voltage, power efficiency, and external quantum efficiency at a current density of $1 mA/cm^2$ for the fabricated PHWOLEDs were 7.5 V, 11.5 lm/W, and 15%, in case of NPB/mCP, 5 V, 14.8 lm/W, and 13.7%, in case of NPB/TCTA, and 5.5 V, 14.6 lm/W, and 15%, in case of NPB/TCTA/mCP in the hole transport layer, respectively. High emission efficiency can be obtained when the amount of hole injection from anode is balanced out by the amount of electron injection from the cathode to EML by using NPB/TCTA/mCP structured HTL.

  • The white light of a hybrid LED is obtained by using red and green organic fluorescent layers made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) films, which function as color down-conversion layers of blue light-emitting diodes. In this research, we studied the fluorescence properties of a red organic fluorophore, employing perylene bisimide derivatives applicable to hybrid LEDs. The solubility, thermal stability, and luminous efficiency are important characteristics of organic fluorophores for use in hybrid LEDs. The perylene fluorescent compounds (1A and 1B) were prepared by the reaction of 4-bromophenol and 4-iodophenol with N,N'-bis(4-bromo-2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1, 6,7,12-tetrachloroperylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxyl diimide (1) in the presence of dimethyl formaldehyde (DMF) at $70^{\circ}C$. The synthesized derivatives were characterized by using $^1H-NMR$, FT-IR, UV/Vis absorption and PL spectra, and TGA analysis. Compounds 1A and 1B showed absorption and emission at 570 nm and 604 nm in the UV/Vis spectrum. We also documented favorable solubility and thermal stability characteristics of the perylene fluorophores in our work. Perylene fluorophore 1, with the 4-bromophenol substituent 1A, exhibited particularly good thermal stability and solubility in organic solvents.
