A Similitude Study of Soil-Wheel System for Identifying the Dimension of Pertinent Soil Parameter(I) -Pull Prediction Analysis- (구동륜(驅動輪)의 성능예측(性能豫測)에 적합한 토양변수(土壤變數)의 차원해석(次元解析)을 위한 차륜(車輪)-토양(土壤) 시스템의 상사성(相似性) 연구(硏究)(I) -견인력(牽引力) 예측(豫測) 분석(分析)-)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the applicability of true model theory for pull prediction in a powered lugged wheel-soil system and to examine the possibility of using principles of similitude in investigating the dimensions of soil parameters pertinent to a powered lugged wheel-soil system concerning the pull prediction. The following conclusions were derived from the study; 1) The pull of prototype wheels proved to be predicted by those of the model wheels for the range of the dynamic weight tested. The pull curves of models and prototype were respectively very similar in the shape. From this basic knowledge, it was enabled to apply the similitude theory to the performance prediction of the true model. 2) A conditional equation which can be used for the prediction of pull of prototype by model test was derived as follows. $n_f=n_1^{-b}$ where $n_f$ : force scale = $w/w_m$ $n_1$ : length scale = ${\ell}/{\ell}_m$ b : exponent on the length dimension of the soil property ${\alpha}$ The range of the numerical value of b, which was determined by the least square method, was found to be -2.0~-2.6. 3) Considering a relatively wide variation of b values in the pull prediction, b is considered to be a function of many variales. Thus it was concluded that there are several soil properties which are pertinent to the powered lugged-wheel-soil system concerning the pull prediction, and these soil properties may have the different effects on the pull of model and protytype wheels, to give the different dimension on the soil parameters.

  • Momentum changing actuators like reaction wheels and control moment gyros are generally used for spacecraft attitude control. This type of actuators produces force and torque disturbances. These disturbances must be reduced since they degrade the quality of spacecraft attitude control. Major disturbances are mainly due to static and dynamic imbalances. This paper gives attention to the reduction of the static and dynamic imbalance. Force/torque measurement system is used to measure the disturbance of the test reaction wheel. An identification method for the location and magnitude of the imbalance is suggested, and the corrections of the imbalance are performed using balancing method. Through balancing, the static and dynamic imbalance is remarkably reduced.

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the grade of WA vitrified and resinoid bond grinding wheels by the sue of AE measuring system. When the manufactured 48 kinds of specimens were scratched by the method of OKOSHI'S grade test, the relationship between the amount of bit scratch depth of grinding wheel specimens and the character- istics of AE signals, and the relationship of AE counts and grade were considered as fololws; (1) The higher the grades are AE cumlulative event counts N and AE event count rate n, the smaller the values tend to be. But A $E_{rms}$is in reverse. (2) In the case of same grade, the smaller the grain size is, the higher the value of AE cumulative event counts N and A $E_{rms}$is results of comparison and observation. The grinding wheel with lower elasticity and with higher percentage of pore detected higher value of AE cumula- tive event counts N than with higher elasticity and lower percentage of pore. But A $E_{rms}$ is in reverse. (3) AE cumulative event counts N and bit scratch depth h have normally one to one correspondence. (4) It can be expected that quantitative evaluations of grade by using AE have been carried out by the wave observation of AE signal in line with the relationship between load speed of bit and AE cumulative event counts N & AE event count rate n.'   • In this paper, we develop the so-called functional test model for magnetic bearing wheels. The functional test model developed in this paper is a kind of electromagnetic suspension systems and has three degree of freedom, which consists of one axial suspension from gravity and the other two axes gimbaling capability to small angle, and does not include the motor. For the control of the functional test model, we derive the optimal electromagnetic forces based on the least squares method, and use the proportional-integral derivative controller. Then, we develop a hardware setup, which mainly consists of the digital signal processor and the 12-bit analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, and show the experimental results.

  • The leading technologies of the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) are ACC (Advanced Cruise Control), LKAS (Lane Keeping Assist System), and AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking). LKAS is a system that uses cameras and infrared sensors to control steering and return to its running lane in the event of unintentional deviations. The actual test is performed for a safety evaluation and verification of the system. On the other hand, research on the system evaluation method is insufficient when an additional steering angle is applied. In this study, a model using Prescan was developed and simulated for the scenarios proposed in the preceding study. Comparative analyses of the simulation and the actual test were performed. As a result, the modeling validity was verified. A difference between the front wheels and the lane occurred due to the return velocity. The results revealed a maximum error of 0.56 m. The error occurred because the lateral velocity of the car was relatively small. On the other hand, the distance from wheels to the lanes displayed a tendency of approximately 0.5 m. This can be verified reliably.

Transfer Path Analysis and Interior Noise Estimation of the Road Noise Using Multi-Dimensional Spectral Analysis Method (다차원 스펙트럼 해석법을 이용한 로드노이즈의 전달경로 해석 및 실내음압 예측)

  • This paper presents a the method for estimating the noise source contribution on the road noise of the vehicle in a multiple input system where the input sources may be coherent with each other. By coherence function method, it is found that the biggest part of the noise source in the road noise is generated by structural vibration on the mechanical-acoustic transfer functions of vehicles. This analysis is modeled as four input/single output system because the noise is generated with four wheels that mechanism of the road noise is very complicated. The coherence function method is proved to be useful tool for identifying of noise source. The overall levels of the interior noise be coherence function method are compared with those measured and calculated by the frequency response function approach using mechanical excitation test. The experimental results have shown a good agreement with the results calculated by the coherence function method when the input sources are coherent strongly each other. The estimation of the road noise indicates that significant coherent can be achieved in the vehicle interior noise.

  • In electric motor coaches, when the adhesion force between rail and driving wheel decreases suddenly, the electric motor coach has slip phenomena. The characteristics of adhesion force coefficient is strongly affected by the conditions between rails and driving wheels, such as moisture, dust, and oil on the rails and so on. This paper proposes the simulation system for slip & slide test using virtual train. We can easily research the adhesion characteristics and adhesion control method with this equipment under the sudden variation of the adhesion force coefficient.

  • EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) of the electrical railway must be ensured for safety of passenger. Maglev trains has not friction between the wheels and the rails because levitation by an permanent magnets, electromagnets and superconducting magnets etc. So, it is advantageous to maintain a high speed without noise and vibrations. In this paper, we investigated that the magnetic field of the before and after installation electromagnetic waves absorber in order to analyze the effects of electromagnetic waves. The theoretical analysis of the electromagnetic wave absorber was simulated using finite element method. The magnetic field properties of electromagnetic waves absorber were measured by EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) test receiver.

  • Wheelsets are an important component affecting the dynamic characteristics of railway vehicles. Research on wheelsets has been conducted for a long time. It is possible to generate the restoring force by the individual torque control of the left and right wheels in the independently rotating wheelsets (IRWs). Although this method solves the problems of conventional wheelsets, such as the solid axle wheelsets, the restoring force control must be added to the existing traction force control, and the restoring force requires a higher precision and quicker response than the traction force. In this paper, we study the robust control strategy of wireless trams with independently rotating wheelsets. The interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) and the controller with the actual scale wireless tram are designed to verify the torque control performance. Moreover, we propose an open loop control method to test and verify the traction and restoring force control algorithm of the IRWs.
