To make the autonomous mobile robot move in the unknown space, we have to know the information of current location of the robot. So far, the location information that was obtained using Encoder always includes Dead Reckoning Error, which is accumulated continuously and gets bigger as the distance of movement increases. In this paper, we analyse the effect of the size of the two wheels of the mobile robot and the wheel track of them among the factors of Dead Reckoning Error. And after this, we compensate this Dead Reckoning Error by Kalman filter using Gyro Sensors. To accomplish this, we develop the controller to analyse the error components of Gyro Sensor and to minimize the error values. We employ the numerical approach to analyse the error components by linearizing them because each error component is nonlinear. And we compare the improved result through simulation.
Mobility of an indoor wheeled robot is affected by adhesion force that is related to various floor conditions. When the adhesion force between driving wheels and the floor decreases suddenly, the robot has slip state. First of all, this paper models adhesion characteristics and slip in wheeled robot. Secondly, the paper proposes estimation method of adhesion force coefficient according to slip velocity. In oder to overcome this slip problem, optimal slip velocity must be decided for stable movement of wheeled robot. The paper proposes an anti-slip control system based on an ordinary disturbance observer, that is, the anti-slip control is achieved by reducing the driving torque enough to give maximum adhesion force coefficient. These procedure is implemented using a Pioneer 2-DXE parameter.
Unlike normal wheels, the Mecanum wheel enables omni-directional movement regardless of the orientation of a mobile robot. In this paper, a robust trajectory tracking control method is developed based on the dynamic model of the Mecanum wheel mobile robot in order that the mobile robot can move along the given path in the environment with disturbance. The method is designed using the impedance control to make the mobile robot to track the path, and the integral sliding mode control for robustness to disturbance. The good performance of the proposed method is verified using the MATLAB /Simulink simulation and also through the experiment on an actual Mecanum wheel mobile robot. In both the simulation and the experimentation, we make the mobile robot move along a reference trajectory while maintaining the robot's orientation at a constant angle to see the characteristics of the Mecanum wheel.

This paper describes the development of an indoor locomotion assistive robot, Ball-Chair, comprising a novel drive system. This robot facilitates locomotion assistive operation in narrow spaces, in which common wheelchairs cannot move easily. The Ball-Chair has two main features: its structural feature and driving mechanism. The exoskeleton frames of the Ball-Chair have been designed with octagonal shapes resembling a circle, for minimizing its volume and weight. Additionally, all its driving parts (including the ball) are mounted within of the robot to enhance its safety. The Ball-Chair features a reverse ball-mouse driving mechanism comprising two driving omni-wheels in the x- and y-axes. By controlling the speed of each omni-wheel, a holonomic driving system that can facilitate omnidirectional locomotion has been achieved using only two wheels. The effective movement of the Ball-Chair in any direction within narrow indoor spaces was experimentally verified. The paper outlines the development procedure in detail.
The derailment is defined as phenomena in which the wheels run off the rail due to inordinate lateral force generated when wheel flange contacts with the rail. Derailment coefficient is typical standard assessing running safety and derailment. The traditional method measuring by strain gage adhered to wheels is very complicated and easy to fail. It also requires too much cost and higher measurement technique. Therefore it can hardly ensure safety because we can't confirm at which time we need to identify safety. In this paper, we principally researched the method measuring easily wheel load generated by contacts between wheel flange and the rail, and lateral force. Correlation of vibration and displacement which was related physical amounts of wheel load and lateral force, was investigated and analyzed through analysis, experiment and measurement. And it is presents new measurement method of derailment coefficient which can estimate derailment possibility only by movement of vibration and displacement, by which we understand the rate for acceleration and displacement to contribute wheel load and lateral force and compare actual data of wheel load and lateral force measured from wheel.
As robot technology advances, research on the driving system of mobile robots is actively being conducted. The driving system of a mobile robot configured based on two-wheels and four-wheels has an advantage in unidirectional driving such as a straight line, but has disadvantages in turning direction and rotating in place. A ball robot using a ball as a wheel has an advantage in omnidirectional movement, but due to its structurally unstable characteristics, balancing control to maintain attitude and driving control for movement are required. By estimating the position from an encoder attached to the motor, conventional ball robots have a limitation, which causes the accumulation of errors during driving control. In this study, a driving control system was proposed that estimates the position coordinates of a ball robot through image processing and uses it for driving control. A driving control system including an image processing unit, a communication unit, a display unit, and a control unit for estimating the position of the ball robot was designed and manufactured. Through the driving control experiment applying the driving control system of the ball robot, it was confirmed that the ball robot was controlled within the error range of ±50.3mm in the x-axis direction and ±53.9mm in the y-axis direction without accumulating errors.

In this study, the internal structure of a Heumgyeonggak-nu (欽敬閣漏) was designed, and the power transmission mechanism was analyzed. Heumgyeonggak-nu is an automated water clock from the Joseon Dynasty that was installed within Heumgyeonggak (欽敬閣), and it was manufactured in the $20^{th}$ year of the reign of King Sejong (1438). As descriptions of Heumgyeonggak-nu in ancient literature have mostly focused on its external shape, the study of its internal mechanism has been difficult. A detailed analysis of the literature record on Heumgyeonggak-nu (e.g., The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty) indicates that Heumgyeonggak-nu had a three-stage water clock, included a waterfall or tilting vessel (欹器) using the overflowed water, and displayed the time using a ball. In this study, the Cheonhyeong apparatus, water wheel, scoop, and various mechanism wheels were designed so that 16 fixed-type scoops could operate at a constant speed for the water wheel with a diameter of 100 cm. As the scoop can contain 1.25 l of water and the water wheel rotates 61 times a day, a total of 1,220 l of water is required. Also, the power gear wheel was designed as a 366-tooth gear, which supported the operation of the time signal gear wheel. To implement the movement of stars on the celestial sphere, the rotation ratio of the celestial gear wheel to the diurnal motion gear ring was set to 366:365. In addition, to operate the sun movement apparatus on the ecliptic, a gear device was installed on the South Pole axis. It is expected that the results of this study can be used for the manufacture and restoration of the operation model of Heumgyeonggak-nu.
We analyzed the manufacturing procedure, specifications, repair history, and details of celestial movements of the water-hammering type $Honsang$ (celestial globe). Results from our study on the remaining $Honsangs$ in China and Japan and on the reconstruction models in Korea were applied to our conceptual design of the water-hammering type $Honsang$. A $Honui$ (armillary sphere) and $Honsang$ using the water-hammering method were manufactured in $Joseon$ in 1435 (the 17th year of King $Sejong$). $Jang$$Yeong-Sil$ developed the $Honsang$ system based on the water-operation method of $Shui$$y{\ddot{u}}n$$i$$hsiang$$t'ai$ in China. Water-operation means driving water wheels using a water flow. The most important factor in this type of operation is the precision of the water clock and the control of the water wheel movement. The water-hammering type $Honsang$ in $Joseon$ probably adopted the $Cheonhyeong$ (天衡; oriental escapement device) system of $Shui$$y{\ddot{u}}n$$i$$hsiang$$t'ai$ in China and the overflow mechanism of $Jagyeongnu$ (striking clepsydra) in $Joseon$, etc. In addition to the $Cheonryun$ system, more gear instruments were needed to stage the rotation of the $Honsang$ globe and the sun's movement. In this study, the water-hammering mechanism is analyzed in the structure of a water clock, a water wheel, the $Cheonhyeong$ system, and the $Giryun$ system, as an organically working operation mechanism. We expect that this study will serve as an essential basis for studies on $Heumgyeonggaknu$, the water-operating astronomical clock, and other astronomical clocks in the middle and latter parts of the $Joseon$ dynasty.

Wall-climbing robots have been developed for various purposes, such as cleaning skyscraper windows, maintaining large structures, and welding vessels. Conventional wall-climbing robots use movement systems based on wheels or legs. However, wheeled robots suffer from slipping effects, while legged systems require many actuators and control systems for the complex linkage structure, which also increases the weight of the robot. To overcome these disadvantages, we propose a new wall-climbing robot that walks based on gorilla locomotion. The proposed robot consists of a DC drive motor, a vacuum pump for adsorption, and a micro controller for controlling the system. The performance of the robot was experimentally verified on vertical and horizontal flat surfaces. The robot could be used for various functions in industrial sites or disaster areas.
Mobility of an indoor wheeled robot is affected by adhesion force that is related to various floor conditions. When the adhesion force between driving wheels and the floor decreases suddenly, the robot has a slip state. In order to overcome this slip problem, optimal slip velocity must be decided for stable movement of wheeled robot. First of all, this paper shows that conventional PI control can not be applied to a wheeled robot of the light weigh. Secondly, reposed fuzzy logic applied by the Takagi-Sugeno model for the configuration of fuzzy sets. For the design of Takaki-Sugeno model and fuzzy rule, proposed algorithm uses FCM(Fuzzy c-mean clustering method) algorithm. In additionally, this algorithm controls recovered driving torque for the restrain the re-slip. The proposed fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is pretty useful with prevention of the slip phenomena through that compare fuzzy with PI control for the controller performance in the re-adhesion control strategy. These procedures are implemented using a Pioneer 2-DXE wheeled robot parameter.
