기어 그라인딩 장비 가공조건 최적화에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Research for the Optimization of the Gear Grinding Machine's Operating Condition)

  • To improve the gear noise quality, gear tooth grinding machine are widely used in automotive industry. While using the gear profile grinding machine to improve the gear tooth quality of the transmission, several defects such as chattering, tooth waves that cause the gear noise occasionally happened. But it is very difficult to solve that problem, because there is no one who knows the setting up the optimal grinding condition appropriately. The abnormal manufacturing conditions which make the gear noise make the engineer to spend a lot of time, effort, and money. Due to demands for solving the serious abnormal gear noise happened in the new FF 6th stage automatic transmission in the mass product stage, the vibration checking process in the worm wheel axis, work rotation and fixed axis of the grinding machine were adapted to find the root causes. As a result, gear profile wave are affected by the work rotation axis's unbalance which is caused by worm wheel feeding speed. And a primary and the secondary grinding feeding speed, cutting oil, work fixed forces are also proved as the important factors. After setting up the grinding condition reported in this paper, it was adapted successfully to the grinding machine to manufacture the new FF 6th speed automatic transmissions' output gear. The gear noise was dramatically disappeared and the process and results will offer good guides to the engineers who manufacture the gear with the grinding machine.

  • 현재 국내 철도차량에 사용되고 있는 주요 부품의 유지와 보수를 위한 검사장비는 대부분 외국으로부터 수입하여 사용하고 있다. 특히 차륜형상 측정장비 등과 같은 일부 검사장비는 외국의 장비를 벤치 마킹하여 제작한 국산화 장비를 설치하여 사용하고 있으나, 이들 국산화 장비는 신뢰성과 성능에 많은 문제점이 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 철도차량 차륜의 유지 및 보수를 위한 차륜형상 측정장치의 정밀도와 신뢰도 향상을 위하여 최신의 고속 하이비젼 카메라 기술과 최적화된 영상처리 알고리즘을 적용하여 차륜형상 측정시스템을 개발하였다. 신뢰성 평가 실험결과 개발된 차륜형상 측정시스템의 신뢰도는 기존 시스템에 비하여 약 10.4%의 신뢰도 향상 효과가 있음을 확인하였다.

Cutting Simulation을 이용한 End-milling Cutter의 모델링 및 제작에 관한 연구 (End-mill Modeling and Manufacturing Methodology via Cutting Simulation)

  • This paper describes a design process of end-milling cutters: solid model of the designed cutter is constructed along with computation of cutter geometry, and the wheel geometry as well as wheel positioning data f3r fabricating end-mills with required cutter geometry is calculated. In the process, the main idea is to use the cutting simulation method by which the machined shape of an end-milling cutter is obtained via Boolean operation between a given grinding wheel and a cylindrical workpiece (raw stock). Major design parameters of a cutter such as rake angle, inner radius can be verified by interrogating the section profile of its solid model. We studied relations between various dimensional parameters and proposed an iterative approach to obtain the required geometry of a grinding wheel and the CL data for machining an end-milling cutter satisfying the design parameters. This research has been implemented on a commercial CAD system by use of the API function programming, and is currently used by a tool maker in Korea. It can eliminate producing a physical prototype during the design stage, and it can be used for virtual cutting test and analysis as well.

전륜 조향용 전기식 작동기 피로수명 평가 (Evaluation of Fatigue Life of Electro-Mechanical Actuator for Front Wheel Steering)

  • 최근 항공분야에서는 온실가스 배출 저감을 위한 친환경 기술이 강조되면서 전기를 주동력원으로 기계적인 직진, 회전 운동을 제어하는 전기식 작동기의 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 단일통로 항공기 전륜조향용 전기식 작동기의 피로수명을 평가하였다. 구조해석을 통해 작동기의 취약부위들을 선정하여 이들에 대한 단위하중 응력표를 구축하였고, 각 하중 프로파일에 대한 대표응력을 계산하였다. 또한 낙수계수법으로 대표응력 그룹의 개별 프로파일을 추출하고, 이를 소재의 S-N 선도에 적용하여 개별 프로파일에 대한 손상을 계산하였다. 최종적으로 손상누적법칙으로 취약 부위들에서의 총 손상을 산출하였고, 단일통로 항공기 전륜조향용 전기식 작동기의 취약 부위들에 대한 피로수명을 평가하였다.

곡선 구간에서 철도 차량 휠의 마모 특성 해석 (A Wheel Wear Analysis of Railway Vehicle on a Curved Section)

  • 철도차량의 휠의 마모는 주로 곡선 주행 시 발생한다. 휠의 형상 변화는 차량 동적 안정성에 중요한 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 곡선 주행 시 휠 마모 특성 분석을 위해 곡선 반경 크기와 속도를 변경시키면서 휠 마모량을 계산하였다. 다물체 동역학 해석에 기초한 차량 동역학 해석결과로부터 마모인자를 계산하고 BRR(British Rail Research)에서 제시한 마모 모델을 이용하여 휠의 마모량을 계산하였다. 반경 300m에서의 마모량이 다른 반경과 비교하여 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다. 곡선 선로에 윤활유를 도유하는 경우 마모 특성 변화를 분석하기 위해 휠의 답면과 플랜지 부위의 마찰계수를 다르게 하여 휠 마모량을 계산하였다. 도유 시 휠 마모의 개선 효과를 여러 반경에서 계산하고 실제 도시철도구간에서 마모 개선 효과를 확인하였다.

Surface Grinding of Tungsten Carbide for High Quality Unign Diamond Wheel

  • Various surface grinding experiments using resin bonded diamond abrasive wheels are carried out for tungsten carbide materials in order to minimize the damage on the ground surface and to purse the precise dimension compared to conventional grinding machine. When grinding quality is constant, theoretical grinding effect is changed according to the speed of workpiece. Accordingly, grinding forces, which are Fn, Ft, were analyzed for the machining processes of tungsten-carbide material to obtain optimum grinding conditions. Brief investigation is carried out to decrease the dressing efficiency of resinoid bonded diamond grinding wheel to grind tungsten-carbide. Truing is also carried out to provide a desired shape on a wheel or to correct a dulled profile. High quality in dimensional accuracy and surface are often required as a structural components, therefore 3-points bending test is carried out to check machining damage on the ground surface layer, which in one of sintered brittle material. From this experimental study, some useful machining data and information to determine proper machining condition for grinding of tungsten-carbide materials are obtained.

A Study on Surface Integrities of High Speed Grinding with CBN Wheel in Mold Material

  • In this study, experiments of high speed grinding had been earned out in a STD11 specimen for evaluating the grindability with designed CBN grinding wheels Ground surfaces were analyzed and evaluated by means of surface Integrities and wheel damages. The surface roughness and 3 dimensional profile had been used for analyzing the micro-surface integrity. The residual stress of the ground surface had been measured by the x-ray diffraction method. Also, the surface state of the ground specimens and the grinding wheels were evaluated by a metallurgical microscope and SEM system after high speed grinding in order to choose the suitable machining conditions.

Inconel 713C와 SCM 440의 마찰용접 (Friction Welding of Inconel 713C and SCM 440)

  • Friction welding technique was studied to weld the turbine wheel and shaft of a turbocharger. The welding parameters were selected to investigate the effects of variables on welding quality of Inconel 713C and SCM 440. Experimental results showed that the turbine wheel and shaft could be successfully welded by friction welding. The heat affected zone was identified to be 2 mm from the weld seam. After welding, the hardness profile was found to have sudden increase and decrease for inconel 713C and SCM 440 respectively. Tensile strength of welded specimens was higher than the required strength for all of the studied welding parameters. The central portion of fracture surfaces by bending had no defects such as crack.

핀 휠을 구비한 외륜형 선회베어링의 면압강도 (Contact Stress of Slewing Ring Bearing with External Pinwheel Gear Set)

  • The pin-gear drive is a special form of fixed-axle gear mechanism. A large wheel with cylindrical pin teeth is called a pinwheel. As pinwheels are rounded, they have a simple structure, easy processing, low cost, and easy overhaul compared with general gears. They are also suitable for low-speed, heavy-duty mechanical transmission and for occasions with more dust, poor lubrication, etc. This paper introduces a novel slewing ring bearing with an external pinwheel gear set (e-PGS). First, we consider the exact cam pinion profile of the e-PGS with the introduction of a profile shift. Then, the contact stresses are investigated to determine the characteristics of the surface fatigue by varying the shape design parameters. The results show that the contact stresses of the e-PGS can be lowered significantly by increasing the profile shift coefficient.
