흑산도 근해연승어업의 참홍어 (Raja pulchra) 어획 특성 (Fishing characters of skate ray, Raja pulchra by the offshore longline fishery in Heuksan-do, Korea)

  • Catches, CPUE, fishing season, disc width composition and fishing ground were studied to rebuild skate ray, Raja pulchra resource by the offshore longline fishery in Heuksan-do, Korea. Annual catches and CPUE of skate ray were increased from 2003 to 2010 (CPUE: from 2007 to 2010) continuously. The main fishing season of the skate ray was from December to next May. Disc width at 50% maturity for Raja pulchra by sex were estimated to be 65.83cm, 57.01cm by female and male respectively. The range of disc width was 22.3-112.0cm and the average disc width was 66.9cm, 60.0cm by female and male of Raja pulchra respectively during 2007-2010. Annual average of disc width of female skate ray was decreased from 2007 to 2010. The fishing grounds were formed from the coastal water off Hong-do to the coastal water off Gyeogyeolbiyeol-do, Korea. The center of fishing ground in October was formed in the northwestern coastal water off Gyeogyeolbiyeol-do and separated from that of the other months.

서해 태안반도 연안에서 오터트롤에 채집된 저서생물의 종조성 및 계절변동 (Comparison of Species Composition and Seasonal Variation of Demersal Organisms Caught by Otter Trawl in the Coastal Waters off the Taean Peninsula, in the West Sea of Korea)

  • To investigate species composition and seasonal variation of demersal organisms in the coastal waters off the Taean peninsula, otter trawl surveys were conducted from April 2010 to January 2011. A total of 75 species were collected, including 44 species of Pisces, 19 species of Crustacea, 6 species of Cephalopoda, 4 species of Gastropoda, and 1 species each of Bivalvia and Echinoidea. The dominant species in each season were Palaemon gravieri in spring, Charybdis bimaculata in summer, Loligo japonica in autumn, and Crangon hakodatei in winter. The number of species, individuals and biomass were highest in autumn and lowest in winter. The diversity index was highest in summer and lowest in winter. The dominance index was highest in winter and lowest in summer. The richness index was highest in autumn and lowest in winter. The evenness index was highest in summer and lowest in autumn. A cluster analysis showed that demersal organisms were divided into two groups; spring and winter organisms (Group 1) and summer and autumn organisms (Group 2). We detected a significant difference (P<0.05) between these groups, mainly owing to Platycephalus indicus, Repomucenus koreanus, and Paralichthys olivaceus within Pisces: Trachysalambria curvirostris, Metapenaeopsis dalei, P. gravieri, and C. hakodatei within Crustacea: and L. japonica within Cephalopoda.

충남 태안 패류생산해역에서의 세균학적 위생안정성 평가 (Evaluation of Bacteriological Safety for the Shellfish Growing Waters in Taean Area, Korea)

  • The seawater in the Taean area was surveyed to evaluate the conditions of the bay and compliance with the bacteriological criteria for a designated area for shellfish production for export. Samples of seawater were collected monthly at 34 sampling stations established in the survey area from January 2002 to December 2004. The bacterial density in the coastal area close to a pollution source located to the northeast of the survey area was higher than in the open sea to the west. The bacteriological counts in the water did not change with 16.5mm of rainfall, but increased abruptly after 65.4mm of rainfall. The total coliform and fecal coliform most probable numbers (MPNs) of 1,224 seawater samples in the survey area were <1.8-2,400 and <1.8-790 MPN/100 mL, respectively. The geometric mean and estimated 90th percentile of total coliforms were 1.9-3.4 and 2.7-26.3 MPN/100mL, respectively, and for fecal coliforms were <1.8-2.6 and 1.8-12.0 MPN/100mL, respectively. The bacteriological water quality in the Taean seawater area met the National Shellfish Sanitation Program criteria for an approved area and the Korea Shellfish Sanitation Program criteria for a designated area for shellfish production for export.

  • 본고는 지난 12년동안 한국연안에 내습한 태풍 및 각 검조소에 출현한 매년의 최고 이상고조와 1970.8.29∼9.2에 있었던 태풍 빌리호 내습시 남 서해안의 각 검조소에서 얻은 자료에 의하여 해면변화에 대한 사례조사를 시도한 것이다. 한국연안은 매년 빈번한 기상교란 (태풍, 저기압등) 에 의하여 이상고조 또는 기상해일현상이 발생, 항만이나 연안지대에서는 적지 않은 피해를 받고 있으나 이에 관한 조사는 전혀 없었으며, 이후 연안지대의 고도이용이나 연안방재를 위하여 먼저 정확한 사례조사가 필요하다고 본다.

Expression of c-Type Lysozyme from the Fleshy Shrimp Fenneropenaeus chinensis Is Upregulated Following Vibrio anguillarum and Lipopolysaccharide Injection

  • Chicken-type lysozyme (c-lysozyme) is present in shrimp and is active against some bacteria. To further understand the regulation of c-lysozyme in the fleshy shrimp Fenneropenaeus chinensis, we determined the tissue-specific gene expression of c-lysozyme and the time-course of mRNA expression in response to Vibrio anguillarum and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection by quantitative reverse real-time polymerase chain reaction. The results showed that c-lysozyme was expressed in all tissues tested, including gill, eyestalk, eye, hemocytes, hepatopancreas, intestine, heart, and pleopod. It was most highly expressed in the intestine followed by the eyestalk, gill, hemocytes and hepatopancreas. The mRNA expression level began to decline in a short time after V. anguillarum challenge and was then upregulated by two fold or more at 24 h post injection (hpi) compared to that at 0 h. Expression was suppressed shortly after LPS injection and began to increase with higher levels of 5.8-, 5.2- and 8.4-fold at 24, 48, and 72 hpi, respectively. Higher expression was sustained and showed a gradual increasing trend until the end of the experiment (72 hpi). These results increase our understanding of the regulation of defense mechanisms and facilitate an evaluation of the effects of probiotics or immunostimulants in shrimp culture.

우리나라 서해에서 발생한 겨울철 고파의 관측자료 분석 (Analysis of the Observation Data for Winter-Season High Waves Occurred in the West Sea of Korea)

  • 우리나라 서해안 다섯 개 관측점에서 취득된 파랑자료를 분석하여 겨울철 서해에서 발생한 고파의 특성을 분석하였다. 고파가 발생하였던 네 시기를 선별하여 그 기간 동안의 파랑 및 기상자료를 함께 분석에 이용하였다. 이들 관측 기간 중 유의파고의 최대값은 2005년 12월 4일에 관측된 6.42 m였다. 분석 결과로부터 온대성저기압이 급속하게 발달할 때 서해상에 형성되는 강한 바람장에 의해 고파가 발생함을 확인하였다. 파랑 관측점에서의 파고의 시간적 변화는 인근 기상관측점에서의 풍속의 시간적 변화와 밀접한 관련을 나타냈으며, 이는 서해상에서 생성된 고파가 풍파의 성격이 지배적임을 나타낸다.

  • 우리나라 서해 목포 연안에서 $2004{\sim}2005$년에 포획된 자연산 참조기 수컷을 이용해 정자 형성과정을 조직학적으로 조사하였다. 정자 형성과정은 정소 내 가장 빠른 성장 단계를 나타내는 배아세포를 기준으로 구분하였다. 그 결과 참조기의 정자형성 과정은 정원세포만이 존재하는 $8{\sim}9$월 휴지기, 정모세포가 출현하는 $10{\sim}1$월 성장기, 정모세포와 정세포가 공존하는 $12{\sim}2$월 성숙기, 정모세포, 정세포 및 정자가 함께 공존하는 $3{\sim}6$월 방정기, 퇴행성 정세포 및 정자가 관찰되는 $5{\sim}7$월 퇴화기와 같이 5단계로 나누어 볼 수 있었다.

  • 2007년 12월 7일 HEBEI SPIRIT호 기름유출 사고로 인해 형성된 타르볼이 12월 27일부터 서남해역에 유입되기 시작하였다. 유입된 타르볼은 해경을 중심으로 한 방제세력에 의해 해상 및 해안에서 제거되었으며, 해상 및 해안에 있어서 각각 0.345톤 및 1,739톤의 타르볼이 수거되었다. 서남해역 타르볼 방제에 동원된 방제인력은 약 2만 5천명의 자원봉사자를 포함하여 총 9만 7천명으로 파악되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 뜰채나 그물 등 서남해권내의 해상과 해안에 유입된 타르볼의 방제에 실제적으로 사용되었던 방제방법들을 소개하였다.

태안군 이원면 육상오염원 배출수에서 분리한 그람음성균의 항생제 내성 특성 (Antimicrobial Resistance Characteristics of Gram-Negative Bacteria Isolated from Inland Pollution Sources in the Drainage Basin of Iwon-myeon (Taean-gun), South Korea)

  • Fecal contamination levels of discharge water from inland pollution sources were investigated in Iwon-myeon (Taean-gun), South Korea. Gram-negative bacteria were isolated during the investigation and the antimicrobial resistance patterns of the isolates were examined to estimate their impact on the coastal environment. The ranges of total coliform and fecal coliform of 12 samples from four major inland pollution sources were 79-490,000 MPN/100 mL and 2.0-490,000 MPN/100 mL, respectively, with the highest level of fecal contamination at Station No. 3. A total of 137 strains (14 genus) were isolated, of which 86 strains (62.8%) were Enterobacteriaceae. The identified isolates were as follows: Pseudomonas spp. (35 strains), Klebsiella spp. (20 strains), Serratia spp. (20 strains), and Escherichia spp. (19 strains). The isolated Gram-negative bacteria showed the highest antimicrobial resistance to ampicillin (81.8%), followed by amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (64.2%), ceftiofur (61.3%), and cefoxitin (59.1%). Antimicrobials in which less than 10% of isolates showed antimicrobial resistance were ciprofloxacin (3.6%) and gentamicin (2.2%). Resistance to one or more antimicrobials was observed in 121 strains (88.3%) and 84 strains (61.3%) showed a tendency for multiple antimicrobial resistance.

한국 남해안 문치가자미, Pleuronectes yokohamae의 성숙과 산란 (Maturity and Spawning of Marbled Sole Pleuronectes yokohamae in the Southern Sea of Korea)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 남해안에 서식하는 문치가자미(pleuronectes yokohamae)의 성숙과 산란에 관한 연구로, 2006년 5월부터 2007년 4월까지 경남 남해군 연안 호망어업과 연안자망에서 어획된 것을 무작위로 채집하여 조사하였다. 암컷의 생식소 발달과정 및 생식소 중량지수의 월 변화로부터 문치가자미의 산란기는 11~2월, 주 산란기는 12~1월로 추정된다. 전장(TL)과 포란수(F)간의 관계식은 $F=3.656TL^{3.518}$ ($R^2$=0.872)이며, 체장이 커질수록 포란수도 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 산란에 참여하는 50% 성숙체장은 전장 19.8 cm이었다. 전 조사기간에 대한 성비(암 수)는 55.2:44.8로 암컷이 우세하였고, 체급별 성비는 전장 25 cm 이하에서는 수컷의 비율이 높았으나 체장이 커질수록 암컷의 비율이 증가하여 32 cm 이상에서는 전 출현개체수가 암컷이었다.
