Organic photovoltaic (OPV)cells have attracted considerable attention due to their potential for flexible, lightweight, and low-cost application of solar energy conversion. Since a 1% power conversion efficiency (PCE) OPV based on a single donor-acceptor heterojunction was reported by Tang, the PCE has steadily improved around 5%. It is well known that a high parallel (shunt)resistance and a low series resistance are required simultaneously to achieve ideal photovoltaic devices. The device should be free of leakage current through the device to maximize the parallel resistance. The series resistance is attributed to the ohmic loss in the whole device, which includes the bulk resistance and the contact resistance. The bulk resistance originated from the bulk resistance of the organic layer and the electrodes; the contact resistance comes from the interface between the electrodes and the active layer. Furthermore, it has been reported that the bulk resistance of the indium tin oxide (ITO) of the devices dominates the series resistance of OPVs for a large area more than $0.01\;cm^2$. Therefore, in practical application, the large area of ITO may significantly reduce the device performance. In this work, we investigated the effect of sheet resistance ($R_{sh}$) of deposited ITO on the performance of OPVs. It was found that the device performance of polythiophene-fullerene (P3HT:PCBM) bulk heterojunction OPVs was critically dependent on Rsh of the ITO electrode. With decreasing $R_{sh}$ of the ITO from 39 to $8.5\;{\Omega}/{\square}$, the fill factor (FF) of OPVs was dramatically improved from 0.407 to 0.580, resulting in improvement of PCE from $1.63{\pm}0.2$ to $2.5{\pm}0.1%$ underan AM1.5 simulated solar intensity of $100\;mW/cm^2$.
This paper presents a plan and guidelines that were drawn for Korean based research carried out on the fire-resistance of CFT columns. This research was carried out by reviewing the Korean regulations related to the fire-resistance of CFT columns and examining studies which had been made in Korea as well as overseas. The first phase of the study plan was to compare the fire-resistance of square CFT columns without fire protection (obtained through fire-resistance tests and numerical analyses) with estimated values (obtained through fire-resistance design formulas proposed in Korea and overseas). This comparison provided conclusions as outlined below. Fire-resistance tests conducted in this study proved that, when the actual design load is taken into consideration, square CFT columns without fire protection are able to resist a fire for more than one hour. A comparison was made of test and analysis results with the fire-resistance time based on the AIJ code, the AISC design formula and the estimation formula suggested for Korea. The results of this comparison showed that the test and analysis results for specimens SAH1, SAH2-1, SAH2-2 and SAH3 were almost identical with the AIJ code, the AISC design formula and estimation formula. For specimens SAH4 and SAH5, the estimation formula was more conservative than the AIJ code and the AISC design formula. It was necessary to identify the factors that have an influence on the fire-resistance of CFT columns without fire protection and to draw fire-resistance design formulas for these columns. To achieve this, it is proposed that numerical analyses and tests be conducted in order to evaluate the fire-resistance of circular CFT columns, the influence of eccentricity existing as an additional factor and the influence of the slenderness ratio of the columns. It is also suggested that the overall behavior of CFT structures without fire protection within a fire be evaluated through analysis simulation.

The occurrence of resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs is a major problem for successful cancer treatment. This resistant phenotype of cancer cell frequently reveals a broad spectrum to structurally and/or functionally unrelated anticancer drugs, termed multidrug resistance (MDR). Overexpression of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), a transmembrane drug efflux pump, is a major mechanism of MDR. Accordingly, considerable effort has been directed towards to development of compounds that inhibit P-gp, reverse the MDR phenotype and sensitize cancer cells to conventional chemotherapy without undesired toxicological effects. In an effort to search for novel MDR reversal agent, we tested the cytotoxicity of paclitaxel, a well-known substrate of P-gp, against P-gp-expressing HCT15 and HCT15/CL02 human colorectal cancer cells in the presence or absence of benzotriazepin analogues, as well as against P-gp-negative A549 human non-small cell lung and SK-OV-3 human ovarian cancer cells in vitro. Among the compounds tested, the agents that have phenyl amide moiety at 3 position remarkably increased the cytotoxicity of paclitaxel against P-gp-expressing cancer cells, but not against P-gp-negative cancer cells. BTZ-15 and BTZ-16 at $4\;{\mu}M$ revealed similar MDR reversal activity to $10\;{\mu}M$ verapamil, a well-known MDR reversal agent.

The WGJ420 fire-resistant weathering (FRW) steel is developed and manufactured with standard yield strength of 420 MPa at room temperature, which is expected to significantly enhance the performance of steel structures with excellent fire and corrosion resistances, strong seismic capacity, high strength and ductility, good resilience and robustness. In this paper, the mechanical properties of FRW steel plates and buckling behavior of columns are investigated through tests at elevated temperatures. The stress-strain curves, mechanical properties of FRW steel such as modulus of elasticity, proof strength, tensile strength, as well as corresponding reduction factors are obtained and discussed. The recommended constitutive model based on the Ramberg-Osgood relationship, as well as the relevant formulas for mechanical properties are proposed, which provide fundamental mechanical parameters and references. A total of 12 FRW steel welded I-section columns with different slenderness ratios and buckling load ratios are tested under standard fire to understand the global buckling behavior in-depth. The influences of boundary conditions on the buckling failure modes as well as the critical temperatures are also investigated. In addition, the temperature distributions at different sections/locations of the columns are obtained. It is found that the buckling deformation curve can be divided into four stages: initial expansion stage, stable stage, compression stage and failure stage. The fire test results concluded that the residual buckling capacities of FRW steel columns are substantially higher than the conventional steel columns at elevated temperatures. Furthermore, the numerical results show good agreement with the fire test results in terms of the critical temperature and maximum axial elongation. Finally, the critical temperatures between the numerical results and various code/standard curves (GB 51249, Eurocode 3, AS 4100, BS 5950 and AISC) are compared and verified both in the buckling resistance domain and in the temperature domain. It is demonstrated that the FRW steel columns have sufficient safety redundancy for fire resistance when they are designed according to current codes or standards.

An electrochemical evaluation on the corrosion resistance for heavy anticorrosive paint(DFT:25um) was carried out for 5 kinds of heavy anticorrosive paints such as high solid epoxy(HE), solvent free epoxy(SE). tar epoxy(TE), phenol epoxy(PE). and ceramic epoxy(CE). Corrosion current densities obtained by Tafel extrapolation method from anodic and cathodic polarization curves didn't correspond with the values obtained by AC impedance measurement, however, the values of polarization resistance obtained from the cyclic voltammogram showed a good tendency corresponding well with the values of AC impedance measurement. Futhermore there was a good correlation against the corrosion resistance evaluation between passivity current density of the anodic polarization curve and diffusion limiting current density of the cathodic polarization curve. And corrosion resistance increased with corrosion potential shifting to noble direction. From the results discussed above. HE and CE had a relatively good corrosion resistance than other heavy anticorrosive paints.
Tuberculosis is a worldwide epidemic disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with an estimated one-third of the human population currently affected. Treatment of this disease with aminoglycoside antibiotics has become less effective owing to antibiotic resistance. Recent determination of the crystal structure of the M. tuberculosis Rv3168 protein suggests a structure similar to that of Enterococcus faecalis APH(3')-IIIa, and that this protein may be an aminoglycoside phosphotransferase. To determine whether Rv3168 confers antibiotic resistance against kanamycin, we performed dose-response antibiotic resistance experiments using kanamycin. Expression of the Rv3168 protein in Escherichia coli conferred antibiotic resistance against $100{\mu}M$ kanamycin, a concentration that effected cell growth arrest in the parental E. coli strain and an E. coli strain expressing the $Rv3168^{D249A}$ mutant, in which the catalytic Asp249 residue was mutated to alanine. Furthermore, we detected phosphotransferase activity of Rv3168 against kanamycin as a substrate. Moreover, docking simulation of kanamycin into the Rv3168 structure suggests that kanamycin fits well into the substrate binding pocket of the protein, and that the phosphorylation-hydroxyl-group of kanamycin was located at a position similar to that in E. faecalis APH(3')-IIIa. On the basis of these results, we suggest that the Rv3168 mediates kanamycin resistance in M. tuberculosis, likely through phosphotransferase targeting of kanamycin.
Service providers have introduced interactive devices such as self-service kiosks to provide convenient and efficient services to consumers. Self-service kiosks are one of the most diverse technological forms of self-service technologies that provide control and freedom to consumers as well as reduce the frustration of line-ups. This study explores the predictors of consumer resistance and continued use intention with regard to self-service kiosks. It adopts three constructs on the following variables: perceived innovation characteristics, consumer characteristics, and gamification. An online self-administered survey was conducted, and 343 users of self-service kiosk services, aged between 20 and 59, were included in the analysis. The study used the SPSS 23.0 program to perform a descriptive analysis along with, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. First, convenience, controllability, and gamification negatively influenced consumer resistance to self-service kiosks. Second, human alienation and sociability positively influenced consumer resistance to self-service kiosks. Third, convenience and gamification positively influenced the continued use intention with regard to self-service kiosks. Last, the risk of functionality, human alienation, and sociability negatively influenced continued use intention with regard to self-service kiosks. The results contribute to the literature because few studies have examined what drives the resistance of users and continued use intention with regard to self-service kiosks. It also provides service providers and practitioners with insights and strategies on how to overcome consumer resistance.
In the present investigation, influence of various material parameters on the cavitation erosion resistance of concrete was investigated on the basis of laboratory experiments. As there is no well-established laboratory test method for evaluating the cavitation resistance of concrete, a test set up called 'cavitation jet' was specially established in the present study in order to simulate the cavitation phenomenon experienced in the hydraulic structures. Various mixtures of concrete were designed by varying the grade of concrete, type and quantity of pozzolana, type of aggregates and cement type to develop good cavitation resistant concrete constructed using marginal aggregates. Three types of aggregates having three different Los Angeles abrasion values (less than 30%, between 30% and 50% and more than 50%) were employed in this study. To evaluate the cavitation resistance a total of 60 cylindrical specimens and 60 companion cubes were tested in the laboratory respectively. The results indicate that cavitation resistance of concrete degrades significantly as the L.A. abrasion value of aggregates goes beyond the 30% value. Incorporation of pozzolanic admixtures was seemed to be beneficial to enhance the cavitation resistance of concrete. Influence of other material parameters on the cavitation resistance of concrete was also noted and important observations have been made in the paper.

Flat plate friction lines have been used in the process to estimate speed performance of full-scale ships in model tests. The results of the previous studies showed considerable differences in determining form factors depending on changes in plate friction lines and Reynolds numbers. These differences had a great influence on estimation of speed performance of full-scale ships. This study was conducted in two parts. In the first part, the scale effect of the form factor depending on change in the Reynolds number was studied based on CFD, in connection with three kinds of friction resistance curves: the ITTC-1957, the curve proposed by Grigson (1993; 1996), and the curve developed by Katsui et al. (2005). In the second part, change in the form factor by three kinds of friction resistance curves was investtigated based on model tests, and then the brake power and the revolution that were finally determined by expansion processes of full-scale ships. When three kinds of friction resistance curves were applied to each kind of ships, these were investigated: differences between resistance and self-propulsion components induced in the expansion processes of full-scale ships, correlation of effects between these components, and tendency of each kind of ships. Finally, what friction resistance curve was well consistent with results of test operation was examined per each kind of ships.

In vitro studies were conducted to dertermine the frequency rate of spontaneous resistance to LB20304 and to dertermine whether cross-resistance to other antimicrobial agents develops. In eight strains of bacteria, the frequency of mutation to LB20304 at the concentrations of four and eight times the minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) ranaged from less than 4.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-10}$ to 2.2 $\{times}$ $10^{-10}$ . These results were similar to those founf for other new fluoroquinolones. THe development of stepwise resistance was determined by repeated subculture in broth in the presence of increasing concentration of the compounds. Exposure of bacteria to increasing concentrations of LB20304 resulted in the selection of organisms with higher MICs. There were 4- to 128-fold increases in the MIC of LB20304 for bacterial strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. However, those strains selected after repeated exposure were well within the susceptibility range for LB20304 except for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The resistant isolates selected with LB20304 showed cross-resistance when tested against ciprofloxacin and vice versa.
