  • The estimation method of the fracture resistance curve for the pipe specimen was proposed using the load ratio method for the standard specimen. For this, the calculation method of the load - CMOD curve for the pipe specimen with the common format equation(CFE) was proposed by using data of the CT specimen. The proposed method agreed well with experimental data. The J-integral value and the crack extension were calculated from the estimated load - CMOD data. The fracture resistance curve was estimated from the calculated J-integral and the crack extension. From these results, it have been seen that the proposed method is reliable to estimate the J-R curve of the pipe specimen.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure partial heat resistance of Hanbok when it worn. Since Hanbok varies from season to season, four different set of Hanboks (R, SN, p and S) were tested. Also Durumagi (D) which is worn over Hanbok (5) to keep warm from winter cold was tested as well. The thermal manikin was used in this experiment. The room temperature, air velocity and the relative humidity was set at $20\pm0.5^{\circ}C$, 0.15 m/sec and $50\pm$5% respectively. The mean skin temperature of the manikin was set at $33\pm0.5^{\circ}C$. The results were as follows: 1. The order from the least total heat resistance to the most was SN, R, p, 5 and D. 2. Upper arms had the highest heat resistance among the 13 parts. The next was abdomen thighs, buttock, legs, forearms and chest, back, and head, the order from the most to the least.

  • Materials in nuclear power plants can be embrittled by neutron irradiation. According to existing studies, the effect of the material property by irradiation embrittlement can be approximately simulated by cold working (pre-strain). In this study, finite element damage analysis method using the stress-modified fracture strain model is proposed to predict J-Resistance curves of irradiated SUS316 stainless steel. Experimental data of pre-strained SUS316 stainless steel material are obtained from literature and the damage model is determined by simulating the tensile and fracture toughness tests. In order to consider damage caused by the pre-strain, a pre-strain constant is newly introduced. Experimental J-Resistance curves for various degrees of pre-strain are well predicted.

  • Experimental were conducted to obtain information on the effect of airflow rates and bed depths on the resistance of coffee cherries and coffee beans available locally (Coffea Liberica). The airflow used were in the range of 0.06 to 0.6 cu. m/s-sq.m. The moisture content of the coffee cherries ranged from 10 % to 50% (wet basis) and that of coffee beans ranged from 12% to 30% )wet basis). Two methods of filling were used i.e. loose fill and packed fill. Pressure drops across the material bed in a vertical column were measured at several depths using inclined manometer. The pressure drop increased directly with air flow rate as well as bed depths. The effects of air flowrates and moisture contents on the resistance in terms of pressure drip per unit bed depth were analysed. The pressure drop per unit depth across the material bed varied slightly due to different depth. The resistance to airflow decreased with the increase in moisture content for loose fill. However, the effect of moisture content is not apparent for packed fill.

  • Extensive experimental studies on remarkable mechanical properties Polypropylene Fibre Reinforced Self-compacting Concrete (PFRSCC) have been executed, including different fibre volume fractions of Polypropylene fibers (0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%) and different water to cement ratios (0.21, 0.34, 0.38, and 0.41). The experimental program was carried out by using two hundred and sixteen specimens to obtain the impact resistance and mechanical properties of PFRSCC materials, considering compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength. Statistical and analytical studies have been mainly focused on experimental data to correlate of mechanical properties of PFRSCC materials. Statistical results revealed that compressive, splitting tensile, and flexural strengths as well as impact resistance follow the normal distribution. Moreover, to correlate mechanical properties based on acquired test results, linear and nonlinear equations were developed among mechanical properties and impact resistance of PFRSCC materials.

  • In this study, the characteristics of freezing and thawing resistance, the compressive strength, and the change in height of cement mortar according to a steam and taler curing conditions has been studied. To this end, the major test variables include the period of the early curing, curing temperature and the later curing. The strength test as well as volume variousness have been conducted to explore the characteristics of freezing and thawing resistance on the curing conditions. The experimental results can be efficiently used to improve the characteristics of freezing and thawing resistance for concrete products carrying steam curing.

  • Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is characterized by a short cell doubling time, rapid progression and early occurrence of blood-borne and lymph metastasis. The malignancy is the highest of all lung cancer types. Although SCLC has a relatively good initial response to chemotherapy as well as radiotherapy, relapse or disease progression may occur quickly after the initial treatment. Drug resistance, especially multi-drug resistance, is the most important cause of failure of SCLC chemotherapy. This article provides a brief update of research on mechanisms of drug resistance in SCLC and reversal strategies.

  • The production technology of high strength and toughness wear resistance steel involves attempt to application of severe wear parts for the construction machinery. A well balanced alloy content ensures that optimum tensile properties are achieved for the high strength. After high temperature deformation like as rolling or forging it has bainite microstructure and lower yield rato(under 80%) The effectiveness of the research approach is illustrated with experimental results on good steel cleanliness(O2 :12.2 ppm, 0,004% S, 0.008%, P nonmetalic inclusion dT: 0.10) and excellent mechanical properties (TS$\geq$140kgf/mm2 El $\geq$10% IV$\geq$20j/cm2) Therefore this should be wear resistance steel which develops high strength and high toughness without heat treatment

  • Air gun has been one of the good tools to press two sheet metals. However, it is not easy to control the acting force precisely. A Servo-gun is a good tool to control the acting force on the workpiece comparing with the air gun. Servo-gun has a higher tensile shear strength and lower indentation depth as well as smaller spatter. Dynamic resistance was obtained according to the acting force and welding current. As the acting force was changed during welding, the welding quality was increased.

  • Aluminum based metal matrix composites(MMCs) are well known for their high specific strength, stiffness and hardness. They are gaining further importance because of their high wear resistance. In this study, Al/Saffil-20%, Al/Saffil-5%/Al2O3(particle type)-15% and Al/Saffil-5%/SiC(particle type)-15% hybird MMCs' wear behavior were characterized by the pin-on-disk test under various normal load The superior wear resistance was exhibited at Al/Saffil-5%/SiC(particle type)-15% MMCs. And this MMCs' predominant wear mechanism is subsurface cracking in the low load wear regime. Others(Al/Saffil-20%, Al/Saffil-5%/Al2O3(particle type)-15%) showed the similar wear resistance with each other at the same test condition. In the low load & room temperature condition, the wear resistance was improved due to the high hardness of the ceramic reinforcements. As the test load increased, the wear properties were governed by the wear properties of matrix.
