Nb의 첨가에 따른 Ti 첨가 저합금강 용접열영향부에서의 석출물 거동 변화 (Precipitation and Precipitate Coarsening Behavior According to Nb Addition in the Weld HAZ of a Ti-containing Steel)

  • The effect of Nb addition on the precipitation and precipitate coarsening behavior was investigated in Ti and Ti + Nb steel weld HAZ. A dilatometer equipped with a He-quenching system was used to simulate the weld thermal cycle. Compared to $TiC_yN_{1-y}$ precipitate in a Ti containing steel, $Ti_xNb_{1-x}C_yN_{1-y}$ complex particle with addition of Nb is precipitated in a Ti + Nb containing steel. Meanwhile, precipitate coarsening occurred more easily in Ti + Nb steel, which may be because the high temperature stability of $Ti_xNb_{1-x}C_yN_{1-y}$ complex particle is deteriorated by the Nb addition.

  • 본 연구에서는 이상계 스테인리스강에서 문제시되고 있는 용접부에 대하여 용 접시 입열에 의한 영향이 큰 용착금속부(fusion line), 용접열영향부(HAZ)의 기계적, 금속조직적 변화와 관련하여 크랙전파특성을 규명하고 주사현미경(SEM)을 이용한 피로 파면을 고찰하였다.

  • Weldability of high Cr ferritic steel for $620^{\circ}C$ grade turbin casing were investigated. The effect of carbon content on the cold and hot cracking susceptibility and HAZ softening was determined. The cast steel with higher carbon content showed higher HAZ hardness because of the dissolution of cabonitrides during welding thermal cycle. Moreover, it showed higher solidification cracking sensitivity because of the little S-ferrite formation in weld metal. Both steels showed HAZ softening at $900^{\circ}C$ peak temperature after PWHT.

  • This study is focussed on the numerical prediction of the thermal fatigue life of a ${\mu}BGA$(Micro Ball Grid Array) solder joint. Numerical method is used to perform three-dimensional finite element analysis for Sn-37mass%Pb. Sn-3.5mass%Ag solder alloys during the given thermal cycling. Strain values, along with the result of mechanical fatigue tests for solder alloys were then used to predict the solder joint fatigue life using the Coffin-Manson equation. In this study, a practical correlation for the prediction of the thermal fatigue life is suggested by using the dimensionless variable $\gamma$. As a result. it could be found that Sn-3.5mass%Ag has longer fatigue life than Sn-37mass%Pb in low cycle fatigue. In addition. the result with ${\gamm}ashow$a good agreement with the FEA results.

  • 고강도 알루미늄합금은 중량이 가벼우면서 인장강도와 항복강도가 높고 가공성, 성형성이 좋아 항공기, 자동차, 선박 등 수송용 재료로 각광을 받고 있으며, 이 중 Al-Zn-Mg계(7000계) 알루미늄 합금은 용접 구조물용 경량소재로 활용범위가 높다. Al-Zn-Mg계 알루미늄 합금은 고온에서 용체화 처리후 저온으로 급냉시킨 재료를 자연시효 또는 인공시효처리를 하여 이 때 석출되는 시효 석출물에 의해 강도를 증가시킨 석출 경화형 합금이다. 그런데, 7000계열 알루미늄합금은 적절한 열처리 작업을 통해 최적의 기계적 성질이 얻어지도록 합금설계가 되어있기 때문에 구조물 제작시 용접에 의한 ARC 열을 받게 되면 열이력(thermal cycle)에 의해 모재의 미세조직이 변화하고 용접 결함이 발생하며 강도의 약화와 함께 내식성 등이 저하한다. 따라서 고강도 알루미늄합금의 용접성을 향상시키기 위해서는 용접부의 미세조직거동과 용접부에 발생하는 용접결함의 현상을 조사하여 용접용 고강도 합금에 필수적으로 요구되는 용접성에 대한 검토가 충분히 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 본 고에서는 알루미늄합금, 특히 7000계열 알루미늄합금에 주목하여, 용접방법, 각종 결함과 대책, 용접부의 시효경화와 응력부식균열 및 기계적 성질 등을 지금까지 보고된 각종 자료를 기초로 하여 3회에 걸쳐 기술하고자 한다.

Pulsed-GMAW의 금속 이행 현상에 관한 동적 해석 (Dynamic Analysis of Metal Transfer in Pulsed-GMAW)

  • The metal transfer phenomenon of the pulsed-GMAW is simulated by formulating the electromagnetic force incorporated with the Volume of Fluid algorithm. The free surface profiles, pressure and velocity distributions within the drop are computed numerically. Axial velocity and acceleration generated during peak current period are found to have a significant effect on drop detachment. Therefore, the accelerated inertia force becomes one of important factors affecting metal transfer in the pulsed-GMAW. When the pulse current parameters are selected properly, the molten drop is detached just after current pulse, and the operating range of the pulsing frequency increases with higher peak current and duty cycle. Calculated operating ranges show reasonably good agreements with the available experimental data.

  • Many researches and projects are actively implemented in the academic world and industrial world in order to increase the productivity through changing utility layout. Effective layout makes the flow of parts and products go on wheels and helps labor forces and utilities to be used efficiently. In this study, we looked at effect on utility layout change through a case of a company making a fuel tank of vehicle in Korea. Due to the layout improvement, this company could have flowshop system on welding line, so the stock in line was decreased, checking the number of stock became easier than before and it was possible to evaluate exact cycle time per unit. Through not only confirming qualitative effect, but also checking quantitative effect such as UPH(Unit per Hour), we obtained the conclusion that the layout improvement increased the productivity.

용접구조물의 피로수명예측을 위한 수치해석모델 (Numerical Analysis Model for Fatigue Life Prediction of Welded Structures)

  • In this study, the numerical analysis model for fatigue life prediction of welded structures are presented. In order to evaluate the structural degradation of welded structures due to fatigue loading, continuum damage mechanics approach is applied. Damage evolution equation of welded structures under arbitrary fatigue loading is constructed as a unified plasticity-damage theory. Moreover, by integration of damage evolution equation regarding to stress amplitude and number of cycles, the simplified fatigue life prediction model is derived. The proposed model is compared with fatigue test results of T-joint welded structures to obtain its validation and usefulness. It is confirmed that the predicted fatigue life of T-joint welded structures are coincided well with the fatigue test results.

배기다기관용 주강소재의 고온특성 평가 (Characterization of High Temperature Mechanical Properties of Cast Stainless Steels for Exhaust Manifold)

  • Automobile industries have been focusing their efforts on the development of exhaust manifolds using high temperature stainless steels. Exhaust manifolds fabricated with stainless steels can be categorized into tubular and cast ones. The former is usually manufactured by forming and welding process and the latter by vacuum casting process. In the present study, high temperature mechanical properties of 5 austenitic and 4 ferritic stainless steels were investigated by performing a series of high temperature tensile and low cycle fatigue tests. One of the austenitic stainless steels was vacuum cast and the others sand cast. Fatigue life of ferritic stainless steels was higher than that of austenitic ones.

  • The automotive chassis components are structural assemblies that support the engine, suspension, and steering components of the vehicle. For the development of AHSS components, the durability analysis is important. In this paper, the low cycle fatigue property of AHSS was evaluated for the geometry complex and local plasticity in the base material. The GMAW optimization was implemented for the weld soundness using the moving least square method. And the weld S-N curves of AHSS were evaluated to access durability analysis for the weld region. For the verification, the durability analysis of the couple torsion beam axle (CTBA) was performed and compared to the rig test result. The durability analysis using the low cycle fatigue property and the evaluated weld S-N curve of AHSS met the good agreement with the test result.
