  • The overall aim of this paper is to determine coupling loss factor of welding point between shell and cylinder using loss factor and structural loss factor. For this purpose, two kinds of loss factor were adopted. One is loss factor of each sub structure, another is structural loss factor based on the complex welded or assembled structure. Using these two parameters, it is possible to derive the coupling loss factor which represent characteristic condition of SEA theory. Coupling loss factor of conjunction in complex structure was expressed as power balance equation. The derived equation for a coupling loss factor has been simplified on the assumption of one way(nl- directional) power flow between multi-sub structures. Using these conditions, it is possible to find the equation of coupling loss factor expressed as above two loss factors. To check the effectiveness of above equation, this paper used two stage application. The first approach was application between simple cylinder and shell. The next was adopted rotary compressor. Rotary compressor has three main conjunctions between shell and internal vibration part. This equation was applied to find out the optimum welding Point with respect to reduce the noise propagation. It shows the effective tool to evaluate the coupling loss factor in complex structure

  • Using blind hole drilling method the residual stresses and welding deflections are measured for the cylindrical shell with various heat inputs and cylinder diameters. As a result, it is verified that the axial and hoop residual stresses which are generated near the weld part of cylinders are increased, as the heat inputs and cylinder diameters are increased. And experimental results show good agreements with those of precedent researchers. In this paper, it is validated that dominant parameters, heat input Q and the dimension of cylinder h/D have some effects on the magnitude and distribution of axial and hoop residual stresses and welding deflections. The empirical equations of residual stresses and welding deflections are made by using multiple linear regression with experimental results.

  • Principal peculiarities of technology for applying coatings of metallic powders on internal surfaces of hollow cylindrical parts by centrifugal method with induction heating from internal surface of part are examined. It is shown that most effective checking and regulating method of sintered powder layer is monitoring the high-frequency current generator power upon contactless pickup indications of external surface temperature of rotating part.

  • FCAW is used mainly in the welding of carbon steel and alloy steel because it can be welded in all positions and can obtain excellent quality at sites with variable working conditions. Recently, many studies in Korea have estimated the fatigue strength, residual stress, and deformation, and to develop a fillet welding process. On the other hand, there have been few studies of the mechanical properties based on the strength, macro and magnetic particle test results for fillet welding. This study shows the following results through fillet welding, macro testing and strength testing using SM490A (solid-structure rolled steel) for thick plates using SS400 (rolled steel) for the upper plate and FCAW. The hardness test, macro test and magnetic particle test were then conducted. The hardness tests showed that all result values were smaller than the KS B 0893 standard values of 350Hv. The macro-test showed that each type of welded part was in a normal organic state and that there were no internal errors, bubbles, or impurities on the front of the welded part. Therefore, there were no concerns about lamination. The magnetic particle examination showed no problems.

  • An investigation has been made on the relationship between characteristics of Acoustic Emission (AE) signal in welding flaw and the stress corrosion defect in-service for the high pressure pipe steel. In order to tackle the problem of welding flaw in high pressure pipe, specimens were made by the aid of the application of both corrosion liquid usage and a quenching method after local heating. The amplitude of signal was $60{\sim}75\;dB$ in the territory which is suspected for defect, and the specimens which only have welding flaw showed gradients of 0.034, 0.034, 0.035. Moreover, there is a certain increase in gradient even though the differences are very slight. That is, corrosion specimens showed new gradients of 0.040, 0.039, 0.041 which put welding flaw and corrosion mechanism together. After pressurizing 3 minutes, AE signal has been detected from welding flaw easily in each part of the section. It is possible to predict the occurrence and also prevent the damage of stress corrosion crack which has characteristics of cleavage fracture.

  • In the automobile industry, in order to increase the fuel efficiency and conform to the safety regulations, it is necessary to make the vehicles as light as possible. Therefore, it is crucial to manufacture dual phase steels, complex phases steels, MS steels, TRIP steels, and TWIP from high strength steels with a tensile strength of 700Mpa or more. In order to apply ultra-high tensile strength steel to the body, the welding process is essential. Resistance spot welding, which is advantageous in terms of its cost, is used in more than 80% of cases in body welding. It is generally accepted that ultra-high tensile strength steel has poor weldability, because its alloy element content is increased to improve its strength. In the case of the resistance spot welding of ultra-high tensile steel, it has been reported that the proper welding condition area is reduced and interfacial fracture and partial interfacial fracture occur in the weld zone. Therefore, research into the welding quality judgment that can predict the defect and quality in real time is being actively conducted. In this study, the dynamic resistance of the weld was monitored using the secondary circuit process variables detected during resistance spot welding, and the factors necessary for the determination of the welding quality were extracted from the dynamic resistance pattern. The correlations between the extracted factors and the weld quality were analyzed and a regression analysis was carried out using highly correlated pendulums. Based on this research, a regression model that can be applied to the field was proposed.

In the field of design and making for machine tool working, welding, assembling with jig and fixture for mass production is a specific division. In order to prevent the production defects the optimum design of product, fig and fixture putting in the field is very significant manufacturing method. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, theory and practice of machine tool operating process and its phenomena, jig & fixture structure, machining condition for tool making tool materials, heat treatment of jig & fixture components, know-how and so on. In this study we designed and constructed a drilling jig of mass production and performed tryout under the Auto CAD, database, and window environment. Especially Part1 of this study is reveals with the analysis of part drawing, jig planning, jig design etc.

  • This paper focuses on an rheo-forming of arm part fabricated by electromagnetic stirring system (EMS). This forming process take place under high pressure of high pressure die casting and thin walled casting is possible. Also the productivity is better than low pressure die casting because of shorter cycle time. The advantages of rheo-forming are performed in the semi solid state with laminar flow and the gas content is low, which makes welding possible. Therefore this research applies for arm part with EMS and has investigated the mechanical propriety after T6 and T5 heat-treatment.

  • The new integrated CAD-CAM systems induce an increasing demand for simulation tools, which are able to simulate industrial part assembly processes by welding, gluing, riveting or bolting(more generally by fastening). Concerning fastened flexible parts, there exist no efficient computational aid on tolerance and methodology available on the field. The first part briefly presents the approach method based on the finite element method for TADA(Tolerance Analysis of Deformable Assemblies). The second part compares the results obtained by simulation using the commercial FEM code with the measurements. The principal elements of dispersion have been identified and studied on an experimental basis in order to test the robustness of the TADA model. This has enabled us to verify the model's possibilities as regards industrial constraints such as the use of incompatible meshes or the use of triangular elements and so on.
