SS400 용접부의 표면피로균열거동에 관한 연구 (A study on surface fatigue crack behavior of SS400 weldment)

  • In order to investigate characteristics of surface fatigue crack propagation from a pit shaped surface defect which frequently exists around welded joints, SS400 steel with thickness of 12mm, which has been generally used for structure members, was welded with submerged-arc butt type and machined for both surface. An initial surface defect of pit shape with the aspect ratio of 2 was made on the specimen. The initial defect was located at 5 different zones over the weldment : weld metal zone, boundary between weld metal and HAZ, HAZ, boundary between HAZ and base metal. Characteristics of surface fatigue crack propagation from the defect on each region under the same loading condition were investigated and compared.

  • Different microstructures in the weld zone of a metal structure such as a fusion zone or heat affected zone are formed as compared to the parent material. Thus, the mechanical properties in the weld zone are different from those in the parent material. As the basic data for reliably understanding the structural characteristics of a welded PCHE specimen to be made of Alloy 617, the mechanical properties in the weld zone and parent material for a Alloy 617 plate are measured using an instrumented indentation technique in this study.

  • 초음파 감쇠를 이용하여 티타늄 용접부에 대해 기계적 특성, 파단면 및 초음파특성을 연구하였다. 준비된 티타늄 시험편은 아르곤 가스를 이용하여 제작하였다. 티타늄 용접 시험편이 파단 되었을 때 변화하는 초음파 신호변화를 확인하기 위해서 인장시험을 실시하였다. 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 파단면을 관찰하고, 4 MHz 수직 탐촉자를 이용하여 초음파 시계열 신호를 획득하였다. 티타늄 판재에서 용접부는 모재부와 열영향부에 비하여 기계적 특성이 떨어지며 파단면분석을 통해 용접부의 입자크기가 모재부보다 큼을 확인할 수 있었다. RMS 신호 처리한 초음파 포락선의 면적과 인장강도의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 따라서 초음파를 이용하여 티타늄 용접부의 건전성 평가 방법이 유용함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The effect of Mn and Ti contents in filler wire on the microstructure and mechanical property of weld metal has been investigated after hybrid welding with ultra fine grained (UFG) steel. The microstructure and distribution of alloy compositions at the top region of weld zone were quite different with those at the bottom region after hybrid welding. The bottom region of weld zone contained higher Mn and Ti contents, and consequently the hardness of bottom region was higher than that of top region. With the increase of Mn and Ti contents in filler wire, the volume percent of acicular ferrite in weld metal decreased, and the weld zone showed higher hardness and better impact property.

  • In this paper, we studied low cycle fatigue behavior of laser welded sheet metal that used automobile body panel. Specimens were manufactured as weld condition and sheet metal using automobile manufacturing company at present. For to know mechanical properties, micro Vicker's hardness test was performed of specimens. But, we can't confirm mechanical properties of weld bead and heat affected zone because laser weld makes very narrow weld bead and heat affected zone than other welding method. Therefore, we performed low cycle fatigue test with similar weldment, dissimilar weldment, similar thickness and dissimilar weldment, and dissimilar thickness and dissimilar weldment for fatigue properties of thickness and welding direction. As well, we analysis stress distribution of base metal, weld bead, and heat affected zone according to strain load using finite element method.

용접부의 선삭특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Turning Property of Welded Material)

  • Turning property of metal is affected by the cutting condition, tool geome- try and cutting material. But the turning property of welded material is not welknown. Welded structures usually contain nonhomogeneity, defects and resi- dual stresses due to differential contraction between welded metal and base metal. In this paper, authors conducted the experimental test on the turning property, by changing turning condition and welding electrodes of the welded specimens. The results obtained in these experimental tests are as follows; (1) Within the limit of this experimental test, the cutting force of the weld zone is bigger than that of base metal, and this phenomena is caused by the different mechanical property of the weld zone. The range of the variation of cutting force in the weld zone is caused by the nonhomogeneity of the weld zone, respectively. (2) The surface roughness follows the general characteristic of the effect of cutting condition on the surface roughness and the surface roughness of the weld zone shows coarse surface comparing with that of the base metal. (3) The specimen welded by the electrode E4301, shows worse cutting property than that of E4361 and E4313.

  • 레일 용접부에 존재하는 각종 결함을 검출하고 이에 대해 정량적으로 평가하는 것은 구조물 전체의 건전성 및 안정성 측면에서 대단히 중요하다. 현재 용접부 내부 결함 검색을 위하여 널리 사용되고 있는 초음파 검사법은 국내 및 국외의 경우 아직 레일에 대한 뚜렷한 평가기준이 제시되어 있지 않은 상태이다. 따라서 현장에서는 탐상기를 보유하고 있어도 이를 정확하게 사용하지 못하고 탐상 결과에 대해서도 합부를 판단하지 못하는 실무자들이 대부분이다. 이에 본고에서는 실무에 있어 현장 기술자들이 알아야 할 레일 용접부의 초음파 탐상에 대하여 첫째, 현재 발주처별 적용하고 있는 국내 궤도 공사 시방서의 문제점 및 개선방향 둘째, 철도 레일 용접부의 초음파 탐상 시험의 적용 방법에 대하여 논하고자 한다.

카오스 특징 추출에 의한 용접 결함의 초음파 형상 인식 (Ultrasonic Pattern Recognition of Welding Defects Using the Chaotic Feature Extraction)

  • The ultrasonic test is recognized for its significance as a non-destructive testing method to detect volume defects such as porosity and incomplete penetration which reduce strength in the weld zone. This paper illustrates the defect detection in the weld zone of ferritic carbon steel using ultrasonic wave and the evaluation of pattern recognition by chaotic feature extraction using time series signal of detected defects as data. Shown in the time series data were that the time delay was 4 and the embedding dimension was 6 which indicate the geometric dimension of the subject system and the extent of information correlation. Based on fractal dimension and lyapunov exponent in quantitative chaotic feature extraction, feature value of 2.15, 0.47 is presented for porosity and 2.24, 0.51 for incomplete penetration The precision rate of the pattern recognition is enhanced with these values on the total waveform of defect signal in the weld zone. Therefore, we think that the ultrasonic pattern recognition method of weld zone defects of ferritic carbon steel by ultrasonic-chaotic feature extraction proposed in this paper can boost precision rate further than the existing method applying only partial waveform.

박용 구조물용 일반압연강 용접부의 피로균열 전파거동에 미치는 $K_{II}$의 영향 (Effects of $K_{II}$ on fatigue crack propagation behavior of wedzone in generally rolled steel for marine structure)

  • An experimental study was carried out to identify the fatigue fractue behavior of weld zone in generally rolled steel for marine structure. The bending an shear loads were applied simultaneously on the specimens to simulate real load condition for marine structure. The effect of the stress intensity factor under mode I with II loading condition on the initiation and the propagation of a crack were investigated, with particular emphaiss on mode II. When the $K_{II}$ stress intensiy factor in mode II was applied under mode I load condition, the growth behavior of a crack seems to be affected mainly by the anisotropic characteristic of materials. Especially, when the crack was located in and near the weld zone and parallel to th weld line, the propagation behaviour was turned out to be quite different from that of the base metal along the direction transverse to the weld line. In general, the propagation veiocity of the cracks in and near the weld zone was found to be slower that the velocity in base metal.
