  • The Photoplethysmogram is a similar periodic signal that synchrinized to a heartbeat. In this paper, we propose a exponential weight moving average filter that use similarity of Photoplethysmogram. This filtering method has the average value of each samples through separating the cycle of PPG signal. If there are some motion artifacts in continuous PPG signal, disjoin the signal based on cycle. And then, we made these signals to have same cycle by coordinating the number of sample. After arrange these cycles in 2 dimension, we put the average value of each samples from starting till now. So, we can eliminate the motion artifacts without damaged PPG signal.

  • The main objective of this study was to evaluate Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) scenarios-based flood risk at a Si-Gun level. A bias correction using a quantile mapping method with the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution was performed to correct future precipitation data provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). A series of proxy variables including CN80 (Number of days over 80 mm) and CX3h (Maximum precipitation during 3-hr) etc. were used to carry out flood risk assessment. Indicators were normalized by a Z-score method and weighted by factors estimated by principal component analysis (PCA). Flood risk evaluation was conducted for the four different time periods, i.e. 1990s, 2025s, 2055s, and 2085s, which correspond to 1976~2005, 2011~2040, 2041~2070, and 2071~2100. The average flood risk indices based on RCP4.5 scenario were 0.08, 0.16, 0.22, and 0.13 for the corresponding periods in the order of time, which increased steadily up to 2055s period and decreased. The average indices based on RCP8.5 scenario were 0.08, 0.23, 0.11, and 0.21, which decreased in the 2055s period and then increased again. Considering the average index during entire period of the future, RCP8.5 scenario resulted in greater risk than RCP4.5 scenario.

  • Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) has been demonstrated to be a practical method for the diagnosis of various brain diseases such as acute infarction, brain tumor, and white matter disease. In this study, we used two techniques to examine the average signal intensity (SI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of the brains of patients who ranged in age from 10 to 60 years. Our results indicated that the average SI was the highest in amygdala (as derived from DWI), whereas that in the cerebrospinal fluid was the lowest. The average ADC was the highest in the cerebrospinal fluid, whereas the lowest measurement was derived from the pons. The average SI and ADC were higher in $T_2^*$-DW-EPI than in FLAIR-DW-EPI. The higher the b-value, the smaller the average difference in both imaging techniques; the lower the b-value, the greater the average difference. Also, comparative analysis of the brains of patients who had experienced cerebral infarction showed no distinct lesion in the general MR image over time. However, there was a high SI in apparent weighted images. Analysis of other brain diseases (e.g., bleeding, acute, subacute, chronic infarction) indicated SI variance in accordance with characteristics of the two techniques. The higher the SI, the lower the ADC. Taken together, the value of SI and ADC in accordance with frequently occurring areas and various brain disease varies based on the b-value and imaging technique. Because they provide additional useful information in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with various brain diseases through signal recognition, the proper imaging technique and b-value are important for the detection and interpretation of subacute stroke and other brain diseases.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a method to evaluate task complexity using CIFs(Complexity Influencing Factors). We developed a method that CIFs can be used in the evaluation of task complexity using fuzzy linguistic approach. That is, a fuzzy linguistic multi-criteria method to assess task complexity in a specific task situation was proposed. The CIFs luting was assessed in linguistic terms, which are described by fuzzy numbers with triangular and trapezoidal membership function. A fuzzy weighted average algorithm, based on the extension principle, was employed to aggregate these fuzzy numbers. Finally, the method was validated by experimental approach. In the result, it was validated that TCIM(Tink Complexity Index Method) is an efficient method to evaluate task complexity because the correlation coefficient between task performance time and TCI(Task Complexity Index) was 0.699.

  • The noise is defined as unwanted sound that causes discomfort and physical changes. This study was conducted to evaluate intensity of noise in the pediatric dental clinic and to investigate noise environment of a pediatric dentist. Human ear shaped microphone and mobile noise level meter were used for recording noise and calculating intensity of noise. By recording according to the method specified by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) of Korea Ministry of labor and employment, the following results were obtained. For 16 experimental days, 8 hour time weighted average (8hr-TWA) was 49.33 dBA (A-weighted deci-Bell) on daily average with maximum 58.54 dBA and minimum 33.97 dBA. And Dose was 0.49% on daily average with maximum 1.28%, minimum 0.04%. These values are less than criteria of KOSHA standard (85 dBA, 100%). Comparing the highest noise level for each patient, pulp therapy group and Frankel grade I group were the highest. The intensity of dental noise of pediatric dental clinic didn't meet standard of KOSHA. It is necessary to re-evaluate noise environment by establishing new standards considering environment of pediatric dental clinic.

  • This paper presents a novel automated threshold-decision algorithm that uses the mean and standard-deviation values obtained from the difference values of consecutive frames. At first, the calculation of difference values is obtained by the weighted ${\chi}^2$-test algorithm which was modified by joining color histogram to ${\chi}^2$-test algorithm. The weighted ${\chi}^2$-test algorithm can subdivide the difference values by imposing weights according to NTSC standard. In the first step, the proposed automatic threshold-decision algorithm calculates the mean and standard-deviation value from the total difference values, and then subtracts the mean value from the each difference values. In the next step, the same process is performed on the remained difference values, and lastly, the threshold is detected from the mean when the standard deviation has a maximum value. The proposed method is tested on various video sources and, in the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method efficiently estimates the thresholds and reliably detects scene changes.

  • Objective of this study was to investigate effects of pre-processing method and number of sampling leaves on stability of the reflectance measurement for Chinese cabbage and kale leaves. Chinese cabbage and kale were transplanted and cultivated in a plant factory. Leaf samples of the kale and cabbage were collected at 4 weeks after transplanting of the seedlings. Spectra data were collected with an UV/VIS/NIR spectrometer in the wavelength region from 190 to 1130 nm. All leaves (mature and young leaves) were measured on 9 and 12 points in the blade part in the upper area for kale and cabbage leaves, respectively. To reduce the spectral noise, the raw spectral data were preprocessed by different methods: i) moving average, ii) Savitzky-Golay filter, iii) local regression using weighted linear least squares and a $1^{st}$ degree polynomial model (lowess), iv) local regression using weighted linear least squares and a $2^{nd}$ degree polynomial model (loess), v) a robust version of 'lowess', vi) a robust version of 'loess', with 7, 11, 15 smoothing points. Effects of number of sampling leaves were investigated by reflectance difference (RD) and cross-correlation (CC) methods. Results indicated that the contribution of the spectral data collected at 4 sampling leaves were good for both of the crops for reflectance measurement that does not change stability of measurement much. Furthermore, moving average method with 11 smoothing points was believed to provide reliable pre-processed data for further analysis.

  • Autonomous data rate control scheme of current IxEV-DO uplink networks can not supper the various QoS requirements of heterogeneous traffics nor hold rise-over-thermal OtoT) constraints. In this paper, an uplink resource management scheme called the modified weighted g-fair (MWGF) scheduler with RoT filling is proposed and evaluated for heterogeneous traffics in cdma2000 type uplink networks. The proposed scheme belongs to a family of centralized resource management schemes and offers QoS guarantee by using priority metrics as well as lower system loading by holding RoT constraints using RoT filling method. With some case-study simulations, the proposed algorithms shows lower average delays of real time users compared to that of autonomous rate control by 29 - 40 %. It also shows the 1.0 - 1.3 dB lower received RoT level than autonomous rate control schemes, leading to lower network loading.

  • Motion Compensated Frame Interpolation(MCFI) has been used to reduce motion jerkiness for dynamic scenes and motion blurriness for LCD-panel display as post processing for high quality display. However, MCFI that directly uses the motion information often suffers from annoying artifacts such as blockiness, ghost effects, and deformed structures. So in this paper, we propose a novel edge-based adaptively weighted vector median filter as post-processing. At first, the proposed method generates an edge direction map through a sobel mask and a weighted maximum frequent filter. And then, outlier MVs are removed by average of angle difference and replaced by a median MV of $3{\times}3$ window. Finally, weighted vector median filter adjusts the weighting values based on edge direction derived from spatial coherence between the edge direction continuity and motion vector. The results show that the performance of PSNR and SSIM are higher up to 0.5 ~ 1 dB and 0.4 ~ 0.8 %, respectively.

  • The paper proposes the improved error diffusion halftoning system to enhance the edges using the spatial perceptual characteristics of the human visual system. The proposed method computes a spatial variation(SV), which is the difference between a pixel luminance and the average of its $3{\times}3$ neighborhood pixels' luminances weighted according to the spatial positioning. Information of edge enhancement(IEE) Is computed using the SV and the local average luminance. The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. The performance of the proposed method is compared with conventional methods by measuring the edge correlation. The halftone images by using the proposed method show better quality due to the enhanced edge. And the detailed edge is preserved in the halftone images by using the proposed method.
