  • Weft insertion mechanism is for completing the structure of yarn and weft yarn and its driving method is screw type. In the high speed rapier loom, weft yarn is thrown by insert rapier and carrier rapier into the shed which make divide two parts of upper part ant lower part for warp yarn. It is possible for this mechannism to reduce the size of rapier and wheel, and directly connected to the main shaft without gear belt. Therefore, exact rapier motion through realization of arbitrary acceleration diagram requested rapier and optimal design for high speedization and operating rate increasing are necessary. In this study, with a view to exact system analysis for understanding of overall trace and high speedization of rapier loom through computer simulation. we report not only deduction of displacement, velocity, and acceleration components of rapier for analysis theory establishment, of weft insertion mechanism and exact motion induction according to screw rotation, but also development of simulation program for realization these on the monitor.

  • Weft insertion and Beating mechanism which weaves fabric with completion the pattern of warp yarn and weft yarn in the high speed rapier loom is driven by cam operating method. This mechanism has 4 cams on the coaxial line for driving. These cams form a pair by two. and perform a conjugate motion with each other. By this reason, it is necessary for two pairs to realize the synchronized motion through exact and optimal design. From this viewpoint, to analysis the whole cams' movement and to realize the high speed of rapier loom, I tried to develop the computer aided simulation program. In this study, I would like to introduce the simulation program about above-mentioned 4 kinds of cam mechanism which can display the profiles of 2 pairs of cam mechanism not to speak of mutual relationships of their movement on the monitor.

  • The hand of the sensitive mixture fabrics was analysed and discussed with measured mechanical properties of two kinds of woven fabrics according to the characteristics of air-jet loom. The 16 mechanical properties such as tensile, bending, shear, compression and surface were measured using KES-FB system and their differences of the mechanical properties between domestic and foreign looms were analysed with the deviation according to the position of the specimen. And also these mechanical properties according to the domestic and Japan air-jet looms were analysed and discussed with warp and weft insertion tensions during weaving. This research is aiming to make a data base of fabric mechanical properties and, these analysed data are given to weaver as a basic research data related to the effects of loom characteristics to the sensitive mixture fabrics required from weaving fields.

Comparison of Physical Properties on the Worsted Fabrics Woven with Rapier and Air Jet Looms(II) - Characteristics of Shear, Compression and Surface - (Air Jet와 Rapier 직기 특성이 모직물의 역학적 특성에 미치는 영향(II) - 전단특성, 압축특성, 표면특성 관하여 -)

  • In this study, the fabrics were woven with worsted grams of Nm 2/72 and the structure of 5 harness satin on rapier and air-jet loom with different weft insertion mechanism and then fabrics were finished in the same processes. Also the physical properties were measured with KES-FB system and discussed with the characteristics of looms for comparing the difference of physical properties of the worsted fabrics which were woven with two different looms under the same structure. Pot shearing and compression properties, then showed similar behavior and the fabric finishing processes were seemed to affect much more than the difference of the loom types. For the surface roughness, the rapier fabrics showed higher irregularity than the air-jet fabrics.

  • The automation of textile machinery in the fabric manufacture is strongly demanded in order to improve the industrial structure related to labour-force and cost curtailment, in addition, to keep step with the various and small production system and the consumption tendency requesting a high quality fabrics. In this thesis, the technology applying the computer to an air jet loom and characteristics obtained from it are derived. To efficently apply an automized and unmanned textile machinery, an air jet loom is equipped with the let-off, take-up and weft insertion device attached a central processing unit(CPU) which can automatically operate according to a program. As a result, an air jet loom is available for the factory automation, which has advantages including productivity promotion, high quality security, energy savings, specification & variety, efficient production control, in fabric manufacturing process.

  • The beating motion of a high speed shuttleless loom is driven by cams. Two cams become one system and their shaft laid across each other. Moreover, the shape of the cams is very complex and requires high precision for successful weft insertion and good interlacing with warp yarn. The iterative contact method is developed for use in design and analysis of the driving mechanism of a disk type cam with oscillating roller follower. The optimum design is performed by utilizing a CAD program, DISKCAM. The 8th order polynomial is selected to interpolate the desired shape trajectory of the cam, the optimal shape of the cams is defined based on the demension of the follower. The kinematic motion of the beating cam mechanism is investigated. The phase angle is determined to achive harmonious cam motions
