사용자 세션 지원 자바 서블릿 (Java Servlets Supporting Users's Sessions)

  • To maintain users' sessions through web browsers, a web server needs facilities for authenticating users and managing their information. Those facilities enable a web server to keep the states of the users, providing services distinguished by the states. As of now, those facilities are provided through non-standardized technologies, leading to the repeated development of similar functionalities through many web programers. In this paper, to solve the problem, we define a new session class containing the information on a user, and present a design and implementation of the Java servlet classes which supply the facilities for authenticating users, managing their sessions, and controling web services according to the groups they belong to. These servlet classes work on any web servers supporting Java servlet such as JavaServer, Apache, and IIS.

웹 네비게이션에서 일반 사용자와 고령 사용자의 행위 분석 (An Analysis of Behavior between Young and Old Users on Web Navigation)

  • 본 연구는 인터넷 사용 연령층은 확대, 증가하고 있는 현 시점에서 신체 조절 능력과 지각, 인지능력이 다른 일반인과 고령자가 인터넷을 이용하여 정보를 찾아가는 네비게이션 행위를 분석하여 연령에 따라 이상적인 웹 네비게이션 디자인을 제시하고자 한다. 정조설계와 메뉴의 표현방법, 레이아웃이 다른 웹 네비게이션 디자인의 유형을 개발하여 고령 피험자 30명 일반 피험자 30명을 대상으로 과제 부과형 평가방법을 실시한 후 피험자들이 정보를 찾아가는 과정을 avi.파일로 녹화하여 정보 검색 소요시간을 측정하고, 화면 분석을 실시하였다. 연령의 차이에 따라 정보를 습득하는 능력이 다르므로 웹에서 정보를 찾아가는 네비게이션 행위에서 일반인과 고령자의 특성이 나타났다. 사용성이 강조된 웹 네비게이션 디자인에서는 고령자나 일반 사용자나 모두 정보를 찾는 데에 어려움이 없고 네비게이션 행위에 있어서 차이점이 없으나 정보 계층구조의 너비나 깊이, 그리고 제시되는 정보의 양, 메뉴의 연결 방식에 따라서는 고령자와 일반인이 정보를 찾는 과정에서 차이가 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 인터넷 사용 인구가 증가함에 따라 연령에 따라 네비게이션 디자인이 다르게 제작된다면 사용자는 보다 손쉽게 정보를 빠르게 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

Web Page Evaluation based on Implicit User Reactions and Neural Networks

  • This paper proposes a method for evaluating web pages by considering implicit user reaction on web pages. Usually users spend more time and make more reactions, such as clicking, dragging and scrolling, while reading interesting pages. Based on this observation, a web page evaluation method by observing implicit user reaction is proposed. The system is designed with Ajax for observing user reactions, and neural networks for learning correlation between user reactions and usefulness of pages. The amounts of each type of user reactions are inputted to neural networks. Also the numbers of characters and images of pages are used as inputs because the amount of users' behaviors has a tendency to increase as the length of pages increase. The experiment is conducted with 113 people and 74 pages. Each page is ranked by users with a questionnaire. The proposed method shows more close ranking results to the user ranks than Google. That is, our system evaluates web pages more closely to users' viewpoint than Google. Although our experiment is limited, our result shows powerful potential of new element for web page evaluation. Some approaches evaluate web pages with their contents and some evaluate web pages with structural attributes, particularly links, of pages. Web page evaluation is for users, so the best evaluation can be done by users themselves. So, user feedback is one of the most important factors for web page evaluation. This paper proposes a new method which reflects user feedbacks on web pages.

Design and Implementation of an Interestingness Analysis System for Web Personalizatoion & Customization

  • Convenience and promptness of the internet have been not only making the electronic commerce grow rapidly in case of website, analyzing a navigation pattern of the users has been also making personalization and customization techniques develop rapidly for providing service accordant to individual interestingness. Web personalization and customization skill has been utilizing various methods, such as web log mining to use web log data and web mining to use the transaction of users etc, especially e-CRM analyzing a navigation pattern of the users. In this paper, We measure exact duration time of the users in web page and web site, compute weight about duration time each page, and propose a way to comprehend e-loyalty through the computed weight.

사회네트워크에서 사용자 행위정보를 활용한 퍼지 기반의 신뢰관계망 추론 모형 (A Fuzzy-based Inference Model for Web of Trust Using User Behavior Information in Social Network)

  • We are sometimes interacting with people who we know nothing and facing with the difficult task of making decisions involving risk in social network. To reduce risk, the topic of building Web of trust is receiving considerable attention in social network. The easiest approach to build Web of trust will be to ask users to represent level of trust explicitly toward another users. However, there exists sparsity issue in Web of trust which is represented explicitly by users as well as it is difficult to urge users to express their level of trustworthiness. We propose a fuzzy-based inference model for Web of trust using user behavior information in social network. According to the experiment result which is applied in Epinions.com, the proposed model show improved connectivity in resulting Web of trust as well as reduced prediction error of trustworthiness compared to existing computational model.

Thai Internet Users' Personality Traits and their Preferred Web Portal's Characteristics

  • The objective of this research is to identify a web portal's specific functions and layouts that are aligned with personality trait of an individual internet user. This first stage of the overall research project intends to check whether the research instrument, namely the NEO Five Factors Inventory (NEO-FFI), is applicable to assess the personality traits of Thai internet users. Based on these personality traits, text-based description of functions/layouts of a web portal was developed and given to professional designers to mock up example web portal pages. These web portal pages were in alignment with individual personality traits. Rating data on the functions/layouts corresponding to individual personality traits were collected from an online survey of 207 Thai internet users. Results showed that respondents gave more consistent rating to the functions/layouts close to their individual personality traits identified in the text-based descriptions than in the mocked-up web portal pages.

An Adaptation System based on Personalized Web Content Items for Mobile Devices

  • Users want to browse and search various web contents with mobile devices which can be used anywhere and anytime without limitations, in the same manner as desktop. But mobile devices have limited resources compared to desktop in terms of computing performance, network bandwidth, screen size for full browsing, and etc, so there are many difficulties in providing support for mobile devices to fully use desktop-based web contents. Recently, mobile network bandwidth has been greatly improved, however, since mobile devices cannot provide the same environment as desktop, users still feel inconvenienced. To provide web contents optimized for each user device, there have been studies about analyzing code to extract blocks for adaptation to a mobile environment. But since web contents are divided into several items such as menu, login, news, shopping, etc, if the block dividing basis is limited only to code or segment size, it will be difficult for users to recognize and find the items they need. Also it is necessary to resolve interface issues, which are the biggest inconvenience for users browsing in a mobile environment. In this paper, we suggest a personalized adaptation system that extracts item blocks from desktop-based web contents based on user interests, layers them, and adapts them for users so they can see preferred contents first.

효과적인 콘텐츠 서비스를 위한 RSS피드 검색 엔진의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of RSS feed search engine for Effective Contents Service)

  • In the Web 2.0, besides more gaining information on the web, the number of web sites that take advantage of RSS increases explosively. Commonly each users search RSS channels through the web search engine before registering RSS channel's url to the RSS reader. Users judge whether the site is RSS channel or not and register an RSS channel's url through theirs interests. Because accomplished by users themselves, those processes conflict to user's convenience and quick consumption of information. Techniques of current search engines can't provide users with reliable RSS feed information as search results. In this paper, we analysis appropriateness of current search engines' techniques that offer users RSS feed search service and discuss their limitations. Also, we make up RSS feed database through classification of RSS tag being possible to search RSS feed information effectively and apply update rate of each RSS channel's feed to ranking algorithm providing more reliable search results.

웹 이용자의 접속 정보 분석을 통한 웹 활용 그래프의 구성 및 분석 (An Analysis on the Web Usage Pattern Graph Using Web Users' Access Information)

  • There are many kinds of research on web graph, most of them are focus on the hyperlinked structure of the web graph. Well known results on the web graph are rich-get-richer phenomenon, small-world phenomenon, scale-free network, etc. In this paper, we define 3 new directed web graph, so called the Web Usage Pattern Graph (WUPG), that nodes represent web sites arid arcs between nodes represent a movement between two sites by users' browsing behavior. The data to constructing the WUPG, approximately 56,000 records, are gathered from some users' PCs. The results analysing the data summarized as follows : (i) extremely rich-get-richer phenomenon (ii) average path length between sites is significantly less than the previous one (iii) less external hyperlinks, more internal hyperlinks.

국내 주요 웹사이트의 접근성에 관한 분석 (Web Accessibility of Major Korean Web sites)

  • Universal accessibility of web sites Is critical in a highly interconnected world. The web site should be usable by anyone, regardless of Individual capabilities and disabilities. But in reality, the users with disabilities are discriminated by inaccessible wed sites. This research analyze the accessibility of major web sites of Korea based on World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guideline 1.0. The result shows that the average number of accessibility errors per web site is 2.77 much higher than that of Unites States. Automated testing and manual testing of web accessibility provides complementary results.
