In this paper, we show that the limitations of Holter monitoring and Wearable Electrocardiogarphy Devices and their arrhythmia detection. Sudden death caused by cardiovascular disease, often referred to as the "silent killer" due to its unpredictable nature, is a major health concern. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a basic diagnostic tool for detecting heart disease, but its limitations make it difficult to detect arrhythmia, a significant indicator of an irregular heart state. To address this limitation, a long-term continuous ECG recording device has been developed, Holter ECG device and wearable device. A significant number of studies have focused on the differences between Holter monitoring and wearable devices. The Holter tests were useful for detecting regularly occurring arrhythmias, whereas wearable patches were better at detecting random and infrequent arrhythmias. Wearable patches were effective in detecting episodes of arrhythmia and myocardial ischemia. Despite the concern, wearable devices had less signal loss than Holter monitoring and patients also preferred wearable devices over Holter monitoring due to convenience. These results could mean that the wearable devices can perfectly replace the Holter test.
In this study, wearable ECG measurement system was implemented for health monitoring during daily life. A wearable belt-type ECG electrode worn around the chest by measuring the real-time ECG is produced in order to minimize the inconvenience in wearing. The measured ECG signal is transmitted via an ultra low power consumption wireless data communications unit to personal computer using Zigbee-compatible wireless sensor node. The ECG monitoring program is developed at end user which is personal computer. The measured ECG contains many noises mainly due to motion artifacts. For ECG signal processing, adaptive filtering process is proposed which can reduce motion artifacts efficiently and accurately than digital filter. The experimental results show that a reliable performance with high quality ECG signal can be achieved using this wearable ECG monitoring system.

This paper presents a wearable human health-monitoring band. The band consists of a body temperature detector (BTD) and a hear rate detector (HRD). The BTD and HRD are realized using an inkjet-printed flexible temperature sensor and a commercial heart rate sensor module, respectively. The sensitivity of the fabricated BTD was found to be $-31/^{\circ}C$ with a linearity of 99.82%. The HRD using the commercial heart rate sensor module has a good performance with a standard deviation of 0.85 between the data of a commercial smart watch and the fabricated HRD.

Recently, economic growth in the world has increased interest in healthy life, and the smart health care industry is growing. In the field of smart healthcare, wearable-type biometric information measurement technology has been highlighted due to the importance of IoT technology. The purpose of this study is to develop a wearable heart - rate monitoring system that can be applied to wearable health care and glove - type monitoring that enables convenient monitoring of heart rate during activity. For this purpose, a glove - type wearable health care system was developed and its performance was evaluated. Experimental results showed that the heartbeat monitoring was possible even in the presence of actual daily activities.
Recently, the wearable computing technology with bio-sensors has been rapidly developed and utilized in various areas such as personal health, care-giving for senior citizens who live alone, and sports activities. In particular, the wearable computing equipment to measure vital signs by means of digital yarns and bio sensors is noticeable. The wearable computing devices help users monitor and manage their health in their daily lives through the customized healthcare service. In this paper, we suggest a system for monitoring and analyzing vital signs utilizing smart healthcare clothing with bio-sensors. Vital signs that can be continuously acquired from the clothing is well-known as unstructured data. The amount of data is huge, and they are perceived as the big data. Vital sings are stored by Hadoop Distributed File System(HDFS), and one can build data warehouse for analyzing them in HDFS. We provide health monitoring system based on vital sings that are acquired by biosensors in smart healthcare clothing. We implemented a big data platform which provides health monitoring service to visualize and monitor clinical information and physical activities performed by the users.

The cardiovascular syndrome is the dominant reason for death and the number of deaths due to this syndrome has greatly increased recently. Regular cardiac monitoring is crucial in controlling heart parameters, particularly for initial examination and precautions. The quantity of cardiac patients is rising each day and it would increase the load of work for doctors/nurses in handling the patients' situation. Hence, it needed a solution that might benefit doctors/nurses in monitoring the improvement of the health condition of patients in real-time and likewise assure decreasing medical treatment expenses. Regular heart monitoring via wireless body area networks (WBANs) including implantable and wearable medical devices is contemplated as a life-changing technique for medical assistance. This article focuses on the latest development in wearable and implantable devices for cardiovascular monitoring. First, we go through the wearable devices for the electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. Then, we reviewed the implantable devices for Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring. Subsequently, the evaluation of leading wearable and implantable sensors for heart monitoring mentioned over the previous six years, the current article provides uncertain direction concerning the description of diagnostic effectiveness, thus intending on making discussion in the technical communal to permit aimed at the formation of well-designed techniques. The article is concluded by debating several technical issues in wearable and implantable technology and their possible potential solutions for conquering these challenges.

Due to population aging, an increase in the number of patients with chronic illnesses, and an increase in the number of single-person households, monitoring of health status in everyday life without the need for a hospital has become very important. For this reason, researches on various health care devices have been attempted, among which wearable devices are attracting much attention. In this paper, we propose a new ring-type wearable device for next generation healthcare. On the inner side of the ring, a metal electrodes for GSR measurement and an optical sensor for measurement of pulse wave signals of two wavelengths of red and near-infrared light were mounted. In addition, it was equipped with an acceleration sensor, and information about the degree of motion could be obtained. In this paper, it is shown that a health monitoring device can be implemented in the form of a ring, and the measured signals can be used to calculate heart rate, oxygen saturation, sleep time and sleep efficiency. Through the advanced algorithm, it is expected that we can extract various health information, especially sleep related health information by using the ring device, and it is also expected that it can contribute to the implementation of wearable healthcare effectively.

A wearable ubiquitous health care monitoring system using integrated ECG and accelerometersensors based on WSN is designed and developed. Wireless sensor network technology is applied for non intrusive healthcare in some wide area coverage with small battery support for RF transmission. We developed wearable devices which are wearable USN node, sensor board and base-station. Low power operating ECG and accelerometer sensor board was integrated to wearable USN node for user's health monitoring. The wearable ubiquitous healthcare monitoring system allows physiological data to be transmitted in wireless sensor network from on body wearable sensor devices to a base-station connected to server PC using IEEE 802.15.4. Physiological data displays and stores on server PC continuously.

Due to the increasingly aging population, there is a rising demand for assistive living technologies for the elderly to ensure their health and well-being. The elderly are mostly chronic patients who require frequent check-ups of multiple vital signs, some of which (e.g., blood pressure and blood glucose) vary greatly according to the daily activities that the elderly are involved in. Therefore, the development of novel wearable intelligent systems to effectively monitor the vital signs continuously over a 24 hour period is in some cases crucial for understanding the progression of chronic symptoms in the elderly. In this paper, recent development of Wearable Intelligent Systems for e-Health (WISEs) is reviewed, including breakthrough technologies and technical challenges that remain to be solved. A novel application of wearable technologies for transient cardiovascular monitoring during water drinking is also reported. In particular, our latest results found that heart rate increased by 9 bpm (P < 0.001) and pulse transit time was reduced by 5 ms (P < 0.001), indicating a possible rise in blood pressure, during swallowing. In addition to monitoring physiological conditions during daily activities, it is anticipated that WISEs will have a number of other potentially viable applications, including the real-time risk prediction of sudden cardiovascular events and deaths.

This study is on the elderly people's use and experience of a wearable device. By using wearable device, the elderly can monitor their health data at real time. As a result, their motivation for health care, exercise, and so on can improve and enhance. Across the globe, population aging becomes one of the most important problems in each nation. The social and economic burden from aging is one of most serious challenges to sustainability of the world and its economy, including South Korea. Information Communication Technology including wearable device can help the elderly health care improve. In 2016, the number of wearable devices is more than 19 million. Many of them are the devices related to health data monitoring. In the experiment, the authors measure real time health data from the subjects' wearable devices. In the first experiment day, subjects' average waist size was 36.29 inches. In the final experiment day, 31st day later from start of the experiment, the average waist size was 35.51 inches. At the beginning of the experiment, standard deviation was 1.93. At the final day of the experiment, it was 2.24. In regression analysis, when experiment day extends, average waist size seems to decrease. The trend is significant (t=2.719, p<0.05). That result may mean the subjects' motivation for health care improve. Wearable device can increase the elderly people's motivation for health care and exercise. As a result, their health can improve.
