The purposes of this study were to investigate consumer's needs for golf wear and to suggest a direction of product development and planning, based on the analysis of golfer's needs. The subjects used for the research were 150 male and female golfers who were in golf practice fields. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, t-test and Duncan test. In summary, the results of this study were as followers; Dimensions of consumer's needs for golf wear were extracted from factor analysis as following properties; fashion/design property, textile property, hygiene property, body-shaped property. The most important consumer's need for golf wear was "wearing comfort" and second one was "moisture absorbency" Respondents evaluated that wearing comfort, stretchability, tactile, size of golf wear were very important but price, pilling, shrinkage or color-fading after laundry of golf wear were relatively less important. The evaluation of consumer's needs for golf wear according to demographic information had significant difference. The female golfers were found to consider that fiber characteristics, easy-to-laundry, wrinkle resistance, stretchability, sewing quality were relatively more important, when compared with the male golfers. Also, There were significant differences on the evaluation of consumer's needs for golf wear on fiber characteristics, stretchability, brand name between age groups.
Metal matrix composites(MMCs) reinforced with hard particles have many potential application in aerospace structures, auto parts, semiconductor package, heat resistant panels, wear resistant materials and so on. In this work, the effect of SiC partioel sizes(50 and 100 ${\mu}m$) and additional elements such as Si, Cu and Ti on the microstructure and the wear property of $Al-5Mg-X(Si,Cu,Ti)/SiC_p$ composites produced by pressureless infiltration method have been investigated using optical microscopy, scanning eletron microcopy(SEM) with EDS(energy dispersive spectrometry), hardness test, X-ray diffractometer(XRD) and wear test. In present study, the sound $Al-5Mg-X(Si,Cu,Ti)/SiC_p$(50 and 100 ${\mu}m$) composites were fabricated by pressureless infiltration method. The $Al-5Mg-0.3Si-O.1Cu-O.1Ti/SiC_p$ composite with $50 {\mu}m$ size of SiC particle has higher hardness and better wear property than any other composite with $100{\mu}m$ size of SiC particle produced by pressureless infiltration method. The hardness and wear property of $Al-5Mg/SiC_p$(50 and 100 ${\mu}m$) composites were enhanced by the addition of Si, Cu and Ti in Al-5%Mg matrix alloy.

Wear property of plasma spray coating in $Cr_2O_3$ powder manufatured of spray dry method on the aluminum substrate was inspected for the application of piston-ring of automotive enginel. The plama spray coatings were varied with feed rate and particle size. Used the ball-on disc type tribometer, wear volume, friction, surface rougness were investigated. The delamination of the coating layer were observed with SEM. Also the cross-section of wear track were investigated, using optical microscopy. As a result of experiment, wear mechanism was addressed in the various coating process.
The effect of Pb addition on microstructure and wear resistance was studied in rapidly solidified Al-20Si-5Fe-xPb(x=2, 4, 6 wt.%) alloys. The R/S Al-20Si-5Fe-xPb (x=2, 4, 6 wt.%) alloys showed a fine and homogeneous microstructure and an improved wear property compared with Al-20Si-5Fe alloy, while no significant change in UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength) was shown. Contribution of the dispersoids on the wear property was discussed by showing the plastic deformation layers formed during wear track.
Wear experiments were conducted using the SRV machine on the lubricated conditions of the several temperature and load. Oil samples were prepared by adding several friction modifiers into both paraffinic base oil and engine oil. Friction and wear characteristics of the oils were determined and are discussed in connection with the friction modifiers contained, the testing temperature and the load applied. From the study, it was found the MoDTC and the MoDTP, added into the engine oil, caused drastic increase in wear and had a tendendy to lose the friction-reducing property on some specific conditions of temperature and/or load, though they had the good property on other conditions. Ashless friction modifiers and dispersed $MoS_2$ investigated showed the good friction-reducing property, but the loads, where they became active, were different.
In this study, plasma source ion implantation was used to improve the wear properties of biocompatible titanium implant. In order to observe the effect of ion energy and dose on wear property of titanium implant, pin-on-disk type wear tests in Hank's solution were carried out. The friction coefficient of ion implanted specimens were increased from 0.47 to 0.65 under high energy and ion dose conditions. As increasing ion energy and ion dose, the amount of wear was reduced.
Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) treatment was performed on cast Mg-6 wt%Al alloy solution-treated at 693K for 16h and aged at 498K. The surface roughness, thickness, micro-hardness, wear and corrosion properties of coatings on solution-treated and aged Mg-6 wt%Al alloy were investigated. The coatings on aged Mg-6 wt%Al alloy had thinner layer and lower micro-hardness and wear resistance than the solution-treated Mg-6 wt%Al alloy. As the aging time increased, the thickness of coatings decreased while the surface roughness was almost no changed. In addition, the micro-hardness and wear property of coatings decreased with increasing the aging time unlike the uncoated Mg-6 wt%Al alloy showing the peak micro-hardness and the best wear property after aging for 16 h. However, the coatings on Mg-6 wt%Al alloy peak-aged for 16h revealed the best corrosion resistance in 3.5% NaCl solution, which was explained based on the microstructural characteristics.
To obtain bronze with good mechanical properties and high wear resistance, a new bronze (CADZ) is proposed on the basis of various fundamental information. The CADZ consists of the elements Al10.5, Fe4.2, Sn3.7 and Ni3.1, and its design is based on Cu-Al10.5 alloy. The Cu-10.5%Al is very hard and brittle. To obtain the high material ductility of the Cu-10.5%Al alloy, an attempt was made to add a few percent of Sn. Moreover, to make high strength of the Cu alloy, microstructure with small grains was created by the proper amount of Fe and Ni (Fe/Ni = 0.89). The mechanical properties of the CADZ sample have been examined experimentally, and those were compared with commercial bronzes. The tensile strength and wear resistance of CADZ are higher than those for commercial bronzes. Although the ductility of CADZ is the lower level, the strain to failure of CADZ is about 2.0~5.0% higher than that for the Cu-Al10.5 alloy. Details of the microstructural effects on the mechanical properties in the CADZ sample were further discussed using various experimental results.
As the additives of engine oil, Mo-DTP and Zn-DTP were studied by experimental works. These additives were added to the engine oil with various ratios, which was an attempt to find out the best ratio at which the wear and friction can be reduced effectively; Mo-DTP is belived to be able to decrease the frictioh of the sliding metal, while Zn-DTP is known as a very stable additive for oxidation at high temperature in addition to the good antiwear property. This study showed that the optimum addition ratio of Mo-DTP and Zn-DTP is 3:2. This oil made it possible to slide steel with minimum wear and low friction over various lovels of load at moderate temperature. But as the oil temperature increased, the wear slid with Mo-DTP oil was increased more. The reason of this result was that Mo-DTP deteriorated the property of oil at high temperature by the higher oxidation and viscosity of Mo-DTP oil than that of Zn-DTP oil.
In order for high strength aluminum alloys to be used in transportation systems and the aerospace industry, excellent mechanical and physical properties are required. In particular, excellent anti-abrasion property is indispensable for parts that require driving force. In general, surface treatment technologies such as high frequency heat treatment, gas solid carburizing, surface rolling, shot peening are used as ways of improving anti-abrasion property. Among various surface treatment technologies, this research chose shot peening processing for Al7075-T6, which is well known as representative high-strength alloy steel. Wear characteristics were compared and analyzed after shot peening processing with shot ball velocities of 40m/s and 70m/s in order to investigate the effects of shot peening processing on wear characteristics.
