The modern multimedia applications which are video processor, video conference or video phone and so forth require real time processing. Because of a large amount of image data, those require high compression performance. In this paper, the prosposed image processing encoder was designed by using wavelet transform encoding. The proposed filter block can process imae data on the high speed because of composing individual function blocks by parallel and compute both highpass and lowpass coefficient in the same clock cycle. When image data is decomposed into multiresolution, the proposed scheme needs external memory and controller to save intermediate results and it can operate within 33MHz.

In this paper, we propose the color fuzzy decision algorithm to face segmentation in a color image. Our algorithm can segment without the user's interaction by fuzzy decision marking. And it removes small parts such as a noise using wavelet morphology in the image obtained by applying the fuzzy decision algorithm. Also, it merges and chooses the face region in each quantization image through rough sets. This video object division algorithm is shown to be superior to a conventional algorithm.

In the video retrieval system, visual clues of still images and motion information of video are employed as feature vectors. We generate the temporal textures to express the motion information whose properties are simple expression, easy to compute. We make those temporal textures of wavelet coefficients to express motion information, M components. Then, temporal texture feature vectors are extracted using spatial texture feature vectors, i.e. spatial gray-level dependence. Also, motion amount and motion centroid are computed from temporal textures. Motion trajectories provide the most important information for expressing the motion property. In our modeling system, we can extract the main motion trajectory from the temporal textures.

In this paper, we proposed a video watermarking algerian based on wavelet transform using statistical characteristic of video according to the energy distribution and the spread spectrum technique. In the proposed method, the original video is splitted by spatial difference metric and classified into the motion region and the motionless region according to the motion degree. The motion region is decomposed into 3-levels using 3D DWT and the motionless region is decomposed into 2-levels using 2D DWT The baseband of the wavelet-decomposed image is not utilized because of the image quality. So that the standard deviation of the highest subband coefficients except for the baseband is used to determine the threshold. Binary video watermarks preprocessed by the random permutation and the spread spectrum technique are embedded into selected coefficients. In computer experiments, the proposed algorithm was found to be more invisible and robust than the conventional algorithms.
This paper proposes a hierarchical approach to active shape model using wavelet transform. The proposed algorithm allows us to use both global shape characteristics and finer details for model deformation. The statistical properties of the wavelet transform of a deformable model are analyzed by principal component analysis and used as priors in the contour's deformation.
This paper presents the results of a study investigating methods of interpretation of wave directionality based on wavelet transforms. Two-dimensional discrete wavelet was used for the analysis. The proposed scheme utilizes a single frame of ocean waves to detect their directionality. This fact is striking considering the fact that traditional methods require long time histories of ocean wave elevation measured at various locations. The developed schemes were applied to the data generated from numerical simulations and video images to test the efficiency of the proposed scheme in detecting the directionality of ocean waves.
This paper Proposes a wavelet-based video compression method to improve compressed images using modification of wavelet coefficients. In conventional wavelet-based compression methods, bigger coefficients are transmitted early according to the significance of the coefficients. In this reason, when some coefficients which have more significance but are not bigger are not transmitted, image degradation occurs. The Proposed method considered two human visual characteristics. First, human eyes are more sensitive to the change of middle frequency which represents abrupt change of brightness than that of high frequency which expresses fine region. Second, human eyes are more dull to color component than luminance respectively. By adjusting the coefficients of wavelet transformed signals and allocating more bits for compression to the luminance signal, higher compression could be achieved.
In this paper, the quantization noise in block-based video coding is analyzed, and a post-processing method based on the analysis is presented for reducing the quantization noise by using a wavelet transform(WT). In the proposed method, the quantization noise is considered as the sum of a blocking noise expressed as a deterministic profile and the random remainder noise. Each noise is removed in a viewpoint of image restoration using a 1-D WT, which yields a regularized differentiation. The blocking noise first is reduced by weakening the strength of each blocking noise component that appears as an impulse in the first scale wavelet domain. The impulse strength estimation is performed using median filter, quantization parameter(QP), and local activity. The remainder noise, which is considered as a white noise at non-edge pixels, then is reduced by soft-thresholding. The experimental results show that the proposed method yields better performance in terms if subjective quality as well as PSNR performance over VM post-filter in MPEG-4 for all test sequences of various compression ratios. We also present a fast post-processing in spatial domain equivalent to that in wavelet domain for real-time application.

In this paper, proposed digital image watermarking technique with lifting wavelet transformation. This watermark technique can be easily extended in video content fields. Therefore, we apply this watermark technique to layered depth image structure that is efficient compression method of multi-view video with depth images. This application steps are very simple, because watermark is inserted only reference image. And watermarks of the other view images borrow from reference image. Each view image of multi-view video may be guaranteed authentication and copyright.

This paper introduces the double-density discrete wavelet transform using 3 direction separable processing method, which is a discrete wavelet transform that combines the double-density discrete wavelet transform and quincunx sampling method, each of which has its own characteristics and advantages. The double-density discrete wavelet transform is nearly shift-invariant. But there is room for improvement because not all of the wavelets are directional. That is, although the double-density DWT utilizes more wavelets, some lack a dominant spatial orientation, which prevents them from being able to isolate those directions. The dual-tree discrete wavelet transform has a more computationally efficient approach to shift invariance. Also, the dual-tree discrete wavelet transform gives much better directional selectivity when filtering multidimensional signals. But this transformation has more cost complexity Because it needs eight digital filters. Therefor, we need to hybrid transform which has the more directional selection and the lower cost complexity. A solution to this problem is a the double-density discrete wavelet transform using 3 direction separable processing method. The proposed wavelet transformation services good performance in image and video processing fields.
